I sat back and closed my eyes. It was so peaceful in this field. The sun felt warm against my blue fur and the wind blew gently. Before I could make water move with my mind and freeze a hot coal with the slightest of touches. Before I could see my thoughts as flashes of pale light, dancing in front of me but too far away to reach for... Before my delicate sanity broke. But I was here now, and all I remebered was the past, teasing me like the teardrop that fell on my parents' faces when they saw I was broken and they could do nothing... Then I saw something. Or was it someone? Did it really matter? Matter what? I felt my thoughts fly away like leaves in the wind. A thought heavier than others rose up. It told me to find help, to try to catch the leaves scattered in the wind, to pick up the pieces of my mind... But soon it would leave too... Focus. It said. On what? I called back, but the voice was fading away, like everything else... I struggled for a second. Blue. I was wearing that colour. My long hair was that colour. My eyes were that colour. But my fur wasn't... I sat down, puzzled, as a breeze tickled my ears. Ears? Yes, I had those, didn't I... I was broken, and soon becoming lost.

I asked the voice, as it swirled around, invisible to all but I. Yes. It said, without hesitation. But another memory, painfully demanding attention, rose to my mind. The scream, a hand, frozen beyond repair... But the thought blew away again, gone. I reached out for it, held it... Before quickly letting go as the blood in my hands froze, bringing a promise of pain unless I could control it.

I also recognised concern. As he spoke, thoughts swirled in greens, blues, yellows... More thoughts than I had been allowed to have while with them... Another thought drifted, a dark red this time, trying to cloud out everything else. But it left... I realised I was supposed to answer. "Pain, enough..." I said, before realising this was completely incomprehensible to anyone but I. So I tried again, purple-blue swirling around my eyes. "Slight... pain..." But I still couldn't fully speak properly, as I remember having done in the past. I needed something to focus myself, to stop thoughts spinning around like a rainbow... Water. I needed water.
