I couldn't seem to find the old ones anywhere, so I figured I'd make a new one Who's you're favorite band/artist and what album do you like by them the most and why? What's your favorite songs off the album? I'll start, you can list as many as you want, I'm going to list my top 10.10.) Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park This was one of the first bands I heard and actually wanted to buy their CD. This was quite some years ago. I still listen to this on occasion and still think this is their best release. I like Meteora and Minutes to Midnight, but this one was a lot more powerful to me. I guess I would say LP was a stepping stone into the long journey ahead of my music world... Kinda, sorta, yeah? ![]() 9.) Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness by Coheed & Cambria I mainly bought this CD because of "Welcome Home" and expected the rest of the album to follow that sound, but, that wasn't the case. Welcome Home was the oddball of the CD. The first listen I was really disappointed with it, but after awhile I listened to it more and more and really liked it. I don't really listen to this type of music, but Coheed have really caught my eye and I own all of their albums now. They're a unique band and one of the best out now 8.)Doom by Job For A Cowboy This was my real exposure to any type of "Death Metal" I heard "Entombment of a Machine" and really digged it. Not really a fan of their new CD "Genesis", although I like a couple of tracks, it's kinda bland. DOOM had just crazy stuff in every song, I loved the drums on the album, and Johnny Davey's pig squeals and high pitch screams are great, as well as his low growl. When I wanna listen to death metal, I usually go for this on my Ipod. ![]() 7.)Blood Mountain by Mastodon I didn't really know what to think of Mastodon, my cousin recommended I pick up this CD because it was just that amazing. He played me a couple of songs and I was hooked. I went and bought the album and played it over and over. It has so many great songs. The melancholy "Sleeping Giant" to the straight forward fast metal song "The Wolf is Loose" and the closest your going to get to radio friendly "Colony of Birchmen" All the songs on this are top notch and the album is worth a listen if you're a fan of Metal/Hard Rock. Theirs even some acoustic stuff on here and it's great. ![]() 6.) The End of Heartache by Killswitch Engage I'm not really a fan of metalcore, theirs some bands that make it interesting and worth listening to, and this is one of those bands. I got TEOH around the time it came out and was blown away. This is another CD that I think is pretty much perfect and wouldn't change anything about it. The production is the best you're going to hear. Adam D. is an excellent producer, I'd say one of the best. I was a huge KSE fan, but I got As Daylight Dies and was disappointed, then hearing some of their newer stuff it sounded like ADD so I haven't even bothered to pick it up. Howard is a great singer and I love their cover of Dio's "Holy Diver" 5.)Ride The Lightning by Metallica This should probably be farther up on the list, but yeah. Metallica is a band that got me into music, I love their first four albums. They were the first albums I bought and at the time they were my favorite band. Hetfields vocals got a lot better from Kill 'Em All to this record, and the song writing is so much better. "Fight Fire With Fire" is the first song you hear off this album, it starts off all acoustic-happy-camper-whatever and then goes completely thrash, I remember the first time I heard this I didn't know what to think except I loved it. "For Whom The Bell Tolls" remains one of my all time favorite songs as well. Another CD I can listen to start to finish. Which is hard to come by these days for me. ![]() 4.)I Get Wet by Andrew W.K. I heard "Party Hard" on VH1 Classics greatest Rock Songs of all time, and youtube'd the vid, and LOVED IT. I found the CD in a bargain bin and picked it up. It's GREAT! I listen to this and just feel happy. A lot of music doesn't make me feel joyful. All the tracks are like that. Sure he doesn't play solo's or complex riffs, but the music is is what it is, and that's music. Party Hard is definitely the song that'll get you pumped, though. Great work out CD. LOL.3.)Crack The Skye by Mastodon This is a classic already and it hasn't even been out for more than 2 years! The band said they were going for a more groovy/classic rock sound, in a way I guess they did get that "sound" it's amazing! All songs fit into place so well. Songs range from about 5 minutes to 15 minutes! I usually can't stand songs that are so long, but Mastodon pull it off without getting repetitive. I can't wait to see what they do next. This is a lot different from their previous record "Blood Mountain" which had a more prog metal sound to it. 2.)Rust In Peace by Megadeth After I got a Metallica record, my dad was saying I should check out Megadeth and handed me RIP, wow. I gotta say it took me awhile to get use to Dave Mustaine's vocals, but once I did, I liked it a lot more than Metallica. The song structures and complexity left me in awe. I don't know how they came up with riffs like this. It's probably one of the best thrash records ever made. I can't tell you how many times I listened to this record. But this is one that has a special place in my heart. ![]() 1.) Among The Living by Anthrax I heard this record a little while after I was getting into Megadeth/Metallica. I wasn't a huge fan of Anthrax at the time, but now listening to it I don't know why. the first song titled "Among The Living" is probably my favorite song of all time. I get sucked into the song everytime. The main riff is jut crushing and I love it "Skeletons In The Closet" "I Am The Law" "Caught In A Mosh" "Indians" this record has so many great songs on here. Anthrax is part of the big four of thrash (Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax) and they're the underdog of them. They're probably not as metal as they'd wear surfer shorts and shirts and sang about Comic Books and Stephan King novels and have a little more punk-inspired sound, but what can I say I love this band. ![]() Honorable mentions: Metallica- Master of Puppets, Alice In Chains-Dirt, Disturbed-Indestructible, Gojira-From Mars to Sirus, Opeth-Ghost Reveries, Static-X -Wisconsin Death Trip, Testament-The Formation of Damnation But that does it, your turn. ![]() Edited by Vermillion, Feb 5 2010, 11:14 PM.

1. Bone Thugs N Harmony ~ E. 1999 Eternal My favorite artists at their best super super amazing album, the flow makes it never get old, and Tha Crossroads is one of the deepest songs ever. But where the album really shines is the excess of creepy killing songs. At least I like that hahaha. If I could sing half as good as these guys I would be so happy. Smooth transitions inbetween from switching members and also songs is pretty cool. Also Down 71 is like a song so dark and amazing it sounds like it was created by demons from hell. 2. N.W.A. ~ Straight Outta Compton The album explodes with high energy in the opening song Straight Outta Compton, the branches out to many relevant topics such as police brutality (fudge Tha Police) and girls taking you for all your money then leaving you (I ain't tha 1), and the ghetto rap ballads by Eazy-E and Ice Cube are incredible. 3. 2Pac ~ 2Pacalypse Now His first and mostly unkown album was his most policital and realest. Afterwards he got a lot thuggy and fudge bitchy which is cool and all but not nearly as cool as being socially aware. 4. Eazy-E ~ It's On ( 5. Wu-Tang Clan ~ Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers 6. Krayzie Bone ~ Thug Mentality 1999 7. Ice Cube ~ AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted 8. Macklemore ~ The Unplanned Mixtape Super cool underground Seattle guy. Deserves to be famous really good lyrics and flow. Check him out. Also he's white and 100000 times better than Eminem. 9. Bizzy Bone ~ Heaven'z Movie 10. Ol’ Dirty Bastard ~ Return To The 36 Chambers: The Dirty Version |
