Sega's new console?; A complete hoax or the truth?

I got a message from one of my best friends on YouTube saying that his friend saw a new SEGA commercial. I think he was just imagining things. It's not really possible for SEGA to get back into action. They lost to the NES and SNES. They are DEAD, and only making GAMES! Even if they did make it, no one would buy it, because of the Wii, PlayStation 3, X-Box 360, X-Box 360 Elite, Nintendo Dual Screen and PlayStation Portable taking all the attention. It would die out in about a month.

Two rules of thumb for posting on SB--

1) Only advertise within the rules' limits.

2) The less smilies, the better.

Faek.

Someone might have said this already, but the staff at SEGA have said themselves that they are no longer in the hardware business, and never will be.

Well, maybe some of you have noticed but Sega is getting back on track very slowly. I doubt they are releasing another console but Sega is now listening to the fans. I bet that in some years Sega will not rely on Nintendo anymore and will become that great company they used to be again. I believe that in some years, Sonic will race up the top ten games list and will beat the living snot out of Mario.
Sad to say, I really doubt that. Sega's gone through decades failing itself. The games are great, but the constant remakes and "new" consoles are what are hurting Sega.

Take Sonic Classic Collection. Great idea, yet another remake. The original Sonics have been remade probably 15+ times or more. Remaking games this much by not adding any innovation to them is only going to result in mostly lost revenue.

The same thing happens when you put out 6 systems at once. Sega still remakes the old classics that the "old" Sonic fans already have. I like Classic Collection and have bought it, but why did they choose that game instead of a new one? That's the point I'm trying to make.

Sega struggles when it comes to releasing consoles/games that are new or popularized on their own (in other words, not coming out with several consoles all at the same time).

But I don't want to hear that Sega lost to Nintendo or Playstation. That isn't true. Sega lost to itself. It brought its own fallout.

I think it is more the latter... but in either case, they're not coming back. I don't believe in this "falling out of the race" thing. I just think Sega brought its own downfall.

I don't think this is real at all i think its just some excuse to get people to buy their systems

I know, I totally agree with you. It's their fault they make terrible games, systems, graphics, ect. It's their fault they don't want to make it good enough for customers.

Wow wow wow... making terrible systems is one thing but terrible games? not so much. if the games were absolutely terrible sega would be erased off the map, sonic would cease to exist. there graphics aren't bad either, the cut scenes look like, they could be movies, but of course they're made by someone else I think, and the actual game characters are shining.

Sega may have made some poor decisions in the past, but there games aren't absolutely terrible, and they don't just make sonic games, Sonic's just their mascot.

I wouldn't go bashing there graphics since most of there games graphics have been pretty awesome in the past.

I wasn't going to the extent that Sega made bad games... I was only saying that they harmed themselves by releasing multiple systems at one time and coming out with unneeded remakes.

If Sega really wanted to come into the gaming business again, they could. It's not really that hard. Make something new and innovative, yet something that is in a lot of ways a bad idea and you immediately get in (indicating the Wii). All Sega would have to do is make exclusive games and something new to differentiate their system from the others. Not really that hard. Of course, they'd need the money to do this.

All I can say is, SEGA would have to make something pretty innovative if they want to get a new console to stay afloat.

Point is, it aint happening. :\
