And I will admit I could've worded that better, but you shouldn't have even bothered posting: by even mentioning such a thing, people will think you are trying to control them, even if they read the whole context of the post. And thus, they will treat you negatively. So at the very least: If you just have to post about such a thing, word it better. Or just don't post at all.

Sebastian, that was quite rude. Haro did nothing wrong. He actually had some sensible criticism for the tangent at hand, and you telling him to "mind his own business" was just totally uncalled for. Even worse, his criticism is justified in its logic! Anyone who's seen my fan character reviews knows I've been around the block enough to know an excessively powered fan character when I see one. This guy has several forms, super speed, full control over water, guns, a sword, and no stated weaknesses in his bio. Honestly, there's no need to beat around the bush. I consider Seb overpowered as well; way overpowered. I stand behind Haro 100%. The relevance of that rant? Learn how to take criticism. And don't go after anyone like that just for not praising you blindly like everyone else has. Also, Sakul. You said Haro doesn't have the right to say what Seb can or can't do with his character. If that is the case, you have no ground to stand on in terms of praising the character, which renders your talk of Seb's "versatility" null and void. Also, that demand was pointless, as well as your so-called advice in regards to posting. Haro wasn't telling Seb at gunpoint to change his character. He offered some simple criticism without any hint of insult in his post; no need to jump on the poor guy. Jesus Christ. It's sad yet unsurprising that Haro has such feelings about this place if dealing with this kind of bull is his usual routine here. You two ought to be ashamed and very glad you haven't technically broken a rule, else I'd have warned you on the spot. WRONG! opens a trapdoor beneath you, Excel Saga style Here's a GREAT entry I found in the Champions RPG Core Rulebook. It's not the actual words, it's very much paraphrased so bear with me. ARE YOU A POWERGAMER? Powergamers are the scourge of all good RPers and must be obliterated at all costs. What IS a powergamer? Glad you asked. The term 'powergamer' mostly applies to tabletop RPGs, particulary superhero genre one, which are notoriously easy to abuse. However, they may also apply to RPs, even more so as RPs do not have RULES (a major design flaw). Here's an example of a Powergamer; Astro the Hedgefoxchidna (WTF???????) Astro has the power to move and resize celestial objects at will. By shrinking down a planet (and everything on it) and teleporting it to himself, he can carry it around as a formidable weapon. All he has to do is take it out of his pocket, throw it at his enemies, then get his mate Pop the Eskimo Ostrich to teleport them both to a galaxy far, far away. Hilarious right? It's hilarious, but it's also very, very BAD. This is not a real character (thank god), but it is an example of what one can achieve through the Dark Side of Roleplaying. What about NovaMan? The man who can explode with the force of an ICBM and remain unaffected by his own explosion? Or Blast the Leaopard, who can fire beams of any element or force he chooses? Or Shadow the Hedgehog (how DOES he get away with it?)? All examples of Powergaming my friends. While these are EXTREME cases, just be aware that YOU could be Powergaming without even realising it. Show someone your profile, for heaven's sake, and make sure your powers are NOT unbalanced. Balanced play makes Jack an AWESOME little boy.

Plus she's like Mr T in that due to the Law of Sheer Awesomeness, she can beat the crap out of anyone she wishes (downing an Egg Fort singlehandedly is a prime example of her awesome factor). Well, Shadow can only teleport short distances(Like, a yard or two at most) for combat, and can pretty much just shoot small arrow-like things. The time slow thing was just changed to the teleport thing. He's just Sonic but slower by a bit and can shoot green/yellow arrows. Anyways, tell them something about those who refuse to lose in an RP, and dodge/negate/counter/own every single attack/Fan Character known to man, and how wrong it is.

But TUC I must agree with the statement you made, there are far too many ''super'' characters around here. I mean what kind of character can LAUNCH AN NUCLEAR EXPLOSION. I mean that's freaking.....creppy. I try for none of my characters to be overpowered but everybody get's the phase where they want for their char to be God the Hedgefoxchidna.

A good point and one that DOES fall within the jurisdiction of this thread. See, the above phenomena is known to role-playing gamers as Super Bonus Syndrome and it IS an abuse of powers. This is to do with the fact that SOME people like to pump all their stat points into one attribute; Strength, Intelligence, Constitution, etc etc, leaving their character useless in all other areas but that one. The attribute bonus that this stat gives is often so high that failure is nigh-impossible and can only be achieved by the 'always margin for error' rule most RPGs have. So, you either succeed or critically fail. Not great fun really. RPers have a worse version of this, however, as some people like to exploit the 'no rules' factor of RPing. These people are about as bad as Powergamers and should be quarantined then decontaminated before being released into RP society again. I'm sure you've all read this somewhere before, but everyone can and will get hit by an attack sooner or later. You cannot always parry/counter/block an attack and unless you are literally impervious against a certain element you will take some damage rfom any attack that hits you. 'Resistance' is not a synonym for 'invulnerability'. Balance is what roleplaying in any form is all about. Your characters can be deficient in some areas and great in others (just like real-life), but DON'T GO OVERBOARD! Edited by Timothy Ulysses, Crusader, Sep 10 2008, 07:12 PM.

I have a blog?	REALLY REALLY TOUGH CHARACTERS! We've all seen 'em; guys like Superman, Goku and the cliched 'Bleep who just won't DAMN WELL DIE!' They can be impervious to almost anything; physical, mental or magical attacks do NOTHING to their Captain-Scarlet-like figures! And they are BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD! slap! Except for Goku, he's got an excuse. You can leave now, dude. "Thanks. walks out of room" Moving right along. Right here in front of me is the Heroes Unlimited Rulebook. One of the powers it lists is Invulnerability. It's a Major Power, of course. It also happens to make you impervious against ALL physical or energy-based attacks. Drugs, poison and radiation are also halved in effect. Basically, the only thing you AREN'T protected from is magical attacks (provided they aren't physical or energy based attacks, which limits a spellcaster's range of spells pretty well) and mental assault. However much I LOVE Palladium Books and their awesome RPGs, they really, REALLY shouldn't have put that power in there. Why? Because it essentially makes the character GODBERRY (King of the juice). The first and last time I ever saw someone play a character with Invulnerability, they kicked everyone's ass and basically had a really boring roleplaying life until they forcibly retired their character. What's my point? Invulnerability, whether it be physical, mental or otherwise in nature, is a bad idea. It ruins the game experience (what's the use of gaming if you know you can't die? (unless we're talking games like Half-Life or F.E.A.R, where God mode is essential for basic survival :D)) and makes your character into a Captain Scarlet ripoff. Say no to +1000 Resistance and bad puppet acting; the next time you go to make your character fully invincible against ANYTHING (let alone EVERYTHING), think about the consequences and what effect it will have on your RP life. Oh, and this was NOT in any way influenced by a recent thread posted by Antony the Bat. This just so happened to be on my newly typed up list of lessons. (TADAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
