But still, he did get a warn for bumping an old topic, unless I've read the information wrong.
Nay. He was warned for trolling, spamming, and flaming. Not for bumping old topics.

Well, we all have to remember that its mainly new people that bump old topics. And your all forgetting, not every new person that rolls on in here is use to NOT having to worry about being warned for bumping old topics.

In short, it might of been okay for them to do so one another forum they went on and aren't use to having to check to see if a topic is old.

Also,Daniel White is right. Many topics in the sonic channel, or the other 'talk about sonic' forums, have been bumped and restarted the topic discussion wise. I'm sure you could fine a few of them in one of those sections(everywhere else I can't really say I've seen this, save for rps but they always get locked unless the rp creator bumped it themselves.)

So yes, I agree with both parties here. He was banned for spamming, and not bumping old topics. But still, he did get a warn for bumping an old topic, unless I've read the information wrong.
Most forums don't even allow you to bump topics older than a few months. I don't think anyone comes here expecting that bumping topics is ok unless they are completely new to forums. If anything most people would not bump just because everywhere else doesn't allow it.

Come to think of it, I've noticed that alot of the bump topics lately happened to come from the Secret of Sonic section of the board, mostly bumped by this one person.

You'd be surprise how many forums DO allow it, or rather, really don't care so much. Most of your low key ones do. I THINK SSZ is one of them that doesn't care so much. However, I'd say we're more strict on the fact then other forums if they do care.

I remember back in the day when we didn't give out so many warns for such simple and small tidbit things like this case presents. I just feel like we're playing cops and robbers now instead of enjoying the forum like we're suppose to.

Anyways, he was banned for spamming. For whatever the reason why he deiced to spam, either it be cause his old forum didn't care so much, or hes new to forums, or thats the very reason why he came to this one since he was banned from another one, he is gone. And the fact still stands, he wasn't banned for bumping an old topic(thanks Devlin for the correction BTW)

And so, the old topic rule still stands. If ya want to know what it is, see Bliz's post above.

I don't know... Most forums don't support it at all unless they are very small. I don't really agree with warning someone over a useless bump anyway. I say just delete the post and close the topic or delete the post and PM the member about the rules.

Eh, most of the forums I've been on don't permit bumping. Some of them not at all. Period.

I won't deny that some forums out there may allow bumping, but it is wise to read and understand the gist of a forum's rules before you decide to talk your heart out.

And it's not too hard to find out when a topic was made. As already said, most of the extremely old, dead and dry topics are on like page 3? (we'll say).

I have made the mistake of bumping old topics before several times on other forums.

Last time I checked, we could easily set the forum so that, by default, we only showed topics from the last 10 or 20 days. If people are purposefully looking for older posts, then they can easily do so using the drop down menu at the bottom of each forum. It may help prevent mistakes by newer members who are unfamiliar with forums.

this is a good idea. maybe we could make it a month or 40 days just to be generous.

That is exactly what I meant. I knew you could do this on invisionfree, but I wasn't sure about Zetaboards. Anyway, a month would be good. Does anyone know what the admins think about this idea?
