Global warming conspiracy uncovered?

Video Description

A leading British climate scientist has come under pressure to resign over a series of leaked e-mails, which global warming sceptics say point to a mass conspiracy. The scandal erupted after a research server was hacked into, and private e-mails and documents were released, suggesting that scientists may have colluded to prevent the release of climate data.

Discuss.

I love the fact that noone seems to stand up and point out the whole theory relies on the apparent hacker being an honest person. He could've wrote as much of it as he wants, he wouldn't even've had to hack at all to be able to make the claims here... The evidence is a tad too washy for me to really make judgement either way...

I do not believe in AGW, but I don't see this "conspiracy theory" as being particularly important. The Hockey Stick Graph controversy has already raised serious questions about the validity of traditional AGW "data." This scandal is irrelevant.

Haha, you guys are basically copying and pasting from Freeway City. I suppose that's what I get when I post the same thing in two places. XD

Guess I'll do that again...

Conversation I had with the friend who linked me to the video:
Quote:

(7:35:12 PM) galetheawesome: How do you know that the hacker who provided the global warming scam emails didn't make them up?
(7:40:21 PM) <name removed>: The university officials acknowledged that their accounts got hacked, and the emails of top professors, scientists, and bureaucrats in the records were questioned.
(7:40:30 PM) <name removed>: None of them want to say anything to the press.
(7:41:29 PM) <name removed>: New York Times was the first to break the story to the world, and do you know how they confirmed the evidence?
(7:42:36 PM) galetheawesome: No.
(7:43:20 PM) <name removed>: One of the people in the emails was a New York Times journalist, and he confirmed that he had those conversations.
(7:43:44 PM) <name removed>: For the first time in decades, New York Times does something useful.

Quote:

(7:51:43 PM) galetheawesome: Do you have a web source I can link people to about the university officials acknowledging it, etc?
(7:51:54 PM) galetheawesome: I posted up the video on a forum I go to.
(7:52:29 PM) galetheawesome: And the question about its legitimacy came from one of the other members.
(7:54:09 PM) <name removed>: But several scientists and others contacted by The New York Times confirmed that they were the authors or recipients of specific e-mail messages included in the file. The revelations are bound to inflame the public debate as hundreds of negotiators prepare to negotiate an international climate accord at meetings in Copenhagen next month, and at least one scientist speculated that the timing was not coincidental.
(7:55:02 PM) galetheawesome: I see.
(7:56:15 PM) <name removed>: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/21/science/earth/21climate.html?_r=1 Read the whole thing here. I don't think this is the original article, but it has a lot of information.

What is the difference between a duck?

I already knew Global Warming was, more or less, a farce. It's happening.. but it's natural and there's nothing we can do to stop it.. In Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth you see it right in the graph he presents.. but people either refused to see (or were too narrow minded to see) that the graph up to this point was consistent and would soon plummet to ice age levels instead of continually shooting upwards. Not that it's a good thing.. it's just that they got it backwards and either did what they were doing to try and change the outcome or slow it down.. OR they just couldn't admit they were wrong. I dunno.. hard to tell.

Hahaha! While I don't think pollution should be condoned and that we should help protect the environment, I really doubt we are warming the planet in any unnatural way.

Agreed. But still this scientifically disproven crap is being presented as fact. I lawl my head off every time politicians talk about "saving the world".
