Good to be back

I've noticed that a certain part of the rules is being ignored constantly.
I don't know about anyone else, but flash video players or music players seem to cause weird glitches on my computer. I realised this was in the rules, and seems to be disregarded. May I ask: why has this not been dealt with? It's a real inconvenience. |

This particular issue may be subject to change. The staff will get together with Metallix as soon as he is available. Recall that these rules have been in place since 2006. A lot has changed since then in media delivery and network transmission technologies as well as popular culture. Until then, all moderators are directed to inform all users of these applications to discontinue their use until an amendment is passed or denied. Failure to remove these applications willingly will result in forced removal. |

No! I see no reason for videos and flash music players not to be allowed in sigs. The only reason they'd cause a problem is if you had a crappy dial-up connection. Can you even get dial-up anymore? If it's glitching up your browser, try Firefox. I used to get crashes on SB when I used IE6, and now I use Firefox, everything's awesome! |

Look at the top left of the page, for every post with a video in the signature/normal post, a #new will appear. Also if this person posts several times major lag affects the page. |

Doesn't for me. Used to when I used IE6 though; it always used to say "**** off Norton" in the top left corner of the page for some reason, haven't a clue why. Are you using IE? |

The forum and its moderators do not cater to a privileged few. until the rules are amended, they must be respected. |

just curious, does the "change sig" button automatically delete all of the sig, or is it just protocol to remove the whole thing? |

Mods...for some reason...can only delete the ENTIRE sig. Or, I haven't figured out how to edit other peoples sigs yet. Not sure which.

Moderators can only delete signatures because signature editing is only accessible by ACP, and the AutoTool that allows signature deletion is not customizable in the first place. Nevertheless, the stricter we are with sigs, the better I say. I friggin' hate those damn things when they're filled to the brim with so much useless nonsense that they actually comprise a greater percentage of space within a person's post than the actual content they write. A signature is just that-- a signature, a small yet unique facet of your identity, not a friggin' Facebook wall or some shit like that. Keep your signature short, sweet, and to the point instead of practically trashing the forum with uninteresting YouTube videos and those damn clickable Neopet abortions. No offense but even I, with a good internet connection (and using FF), had problem with pages loading before the signature purge. And at one time everyone had tons of videos in their signatures (I won't deny I did once), table stretching images, etc. And sorry, but there are people out there who still use dial-up I'm sure. Just because (maybe) the masses here use good internet connections does not mean everyone has it. And everyone and their mother linking a video coupled with videos inside a thread = combo breaker. Honestly, is a video in your sig really necessary? Most of the sites I used to go to didn't have options to actually use videos. Just be glad we have the option.
