I don't know where I'm going.

Pure Shadow A fangame that needs a lot of help (= I began creating this around the winter of 2006, one year after Shadow the Hedgehog was released. Originally, this game was going to be my creation of a sequel to the game, having him find out his ACTUAL past, yet again, using the information that is written on various Shadow Fan Sites such as Shadows HQ, Black Hero, The Shadow Realm and ShadowFlash. The game was an official STi (Sonic Technical Institute) game, until I dropped off the face of the planet and was scrapped in 2007. I found it around 2 weeks ago, and I decided to play around with it a bit, and I realized I left the game with a lot of glitches, and a lot of unfinished work with Loops, Slopes, Rings, ect. So I decided to pick it up and review my coding days, and try to fix everything. Surprisingly, I did, and now I'm working on this fangame again. Even though I'm working on it again, I don't have enough creativity to whip up a new plot. But, on the brightside, I have dedicated fans to help me. So, take a look at my work: ![]() ![]() ![]() I've been doing a good deal of work, and I'm having a blast doing it. So, instead of a team effort, I think I can handle programming by myself, and I'm pretty excited about it. In two weeks time, I reconstructed a lot, coded a lot, and came up with the first "comeback demo" since 2007. Here's the link to download. http://rapidshare.com/files/309329928/PS_Demo1.exe For the most part, the game isn't very glitchy at all. There is an error with the coding of the rings though. So when you start collecting rings in the level, you'll notice that you can have a jump of 0 rings to 200 rings. I'm very aware of it, and I'll fix it by next demo. I made a silly mistake, but no big deal right =D I have other things to finish as well, such as badnicks, better level design, different actions for Shadow, a better menu, ect. but right now, I really need a lot of ideas and story line. If you can help me in anyway, I'd very much appreciate it. Since Sonic Blast is the only forum I actually go on now, I'm also now including fan characters to be implemented in the game. If you want to know further details about that, PM me, and I'll answer any questions you may have. But for now, feel free to comment and/or criticize. Enjoy =D |

Sadly, I have to say, I wasn't very impressed with this. Excluding the fact that I managed to glitch out of the level and fall endlessly in space, I generally found a lot of problems with this so far. For starters, a FPS of 14-16? This was no way near the speed a Sonic game should be. The max speed you could run at should be the sort of medium speed in my opinion. I also found the first level way too long, and I was playing for about ten minutes (before I glitched) which is no way near the time I'd expect for a first level. On the upside, the graphics were over-average and the mapping was good (aside from, as you said, the minor errors like floating platforms and the like), along with the programming, so I'm pretty confident you know what you're doing. As long as you can look at your downsides and improve, I can see this becoming really good. Oh, and you use too many grind rails. xP |
