"I can't believe you forced me to drag you along with me," said a human male with black bat ears and bat wings. Over his left eye was a blood red eyepatch. "Come on, Vurado. You know I like to take trips into the past. I like to live how everyone else did before our time every once in a while," replied a grey furred male rabbit. He wore a simple light brown jumpsuit that seemed to be a school uniform. His footwear was an ordinary pair of leather shoes. A pair of wide-lensed round spectacles above his pale muzzle could be seen in front of his chocolate colored eyes. His hair was a creamy orange color. On his right shoulder, he carried heavy-looking satchel, likely filled with books judging from his studious appearance. "I know, Gerald, but it's just that it's tough enough getting so many strange looks without having to worry about one of my friends," the person known as Vurado said as he looked around to see different people looking in their direction, particularly at Vurado's appearance.
(You know what Vurado looks like. I just simply added the eyepatch so that people wouldn't be freaked out even more by the Mephiles-style left eye.)

Juan squinted as he looked at something. "See it?" asked Jizo. Juan grunted and said, "No Jizo, I don't. Unlike you, I find it difficult to see on a planet with only one sun." Jizo sighed and asked, "You just like to complain, don't you?"
The purple porcupine smiled slightly and said, "Yes, as a matter of fact I do." Jizo sighed again and said, "Why did they have to put us as partners this year?" Juan laughed and said, "Because you needed someone to think for you."
The two sat at a table outside a resteraunt located near the center of Station Square. The purple porcupine, Juan, wore a black vest and black shorts with green fingerless gloves and green boots. His eyes and fingernails were both decorated with dark blue makeup, and his short quills stuck out behind him.
The red hedgehog, Jizo, had white stripes going from his forehead to the back of each quill. He wore a long black coat with grey pants, and had pink gloves with yellow fingers and pink shoes, each with a yellow stripe going across the middle. His gloves had small metal plates on the back of them, and his shoes had metal heels and toes. Their odd attire aroused several curious glances, all of which quickly looked away when Juan returned their gaze.

As Gerald and Vurado walked, they noticed a restaurant. Gerald's stomach rumbled a little bit, but it was enough for Vurado's bat ears to hear. "You feeling hungry too?" the human asked his friend. "Heheh, guess so," Gerald said, a little embarassed. "Let's grab something to eat. I'll buy," Vurado said. The two walked to the restaurant. As they did, they noticed the hedgehog and porcupine. Vurado didn't pay much mind to them, since he and Gerald both saw stranger appearances. Gerald however kept looking, a curious expression on his face.

Jizo handed Juan some money and said, "Alright, I'll be seeing you later. Something tells me I don't want to be here when Regal gets here." Juan grunted in response and took the money. "Gee, thanks." he said sarcastically.
Several minutes later, a hedgehog of a darker color than Juan came walking down the street. This hedgehog had many more quills than Juan and had a much friendlier expression on his face. He wore dark red pants and a similarly colored coat, and on his gloves and boots were white arrow-like shapes. He waved to Juan, who grumbled and motioned him over.
"So, how's my favorite knight doing?" asked Regal. Juan sighed and said, "Cut the crap, Lhanta. You called me here for business, now what is it?"
Frowning, Regal said, "Tut-tut, always so serious. You keep it up and Anya's gonna leave ya for sure!" Juan's already sour expression tightened further, and he said, "Lhanta, leave my fiance out of this and tell me why I'm here." Regal chuckled and shook his head, shrugging.

Before they approached the counter, Vurado clapped his ears down on his head, which seemed to blend in with the black areas of his hair. He even made sure that his wings were hidden from a frontal view. If someone were to look at him from the front right now, he'd look just like everyone else, save for the eyepatch over his left eye.
"Uhm, excuse me," Vurado said, ordering for Gerald and himself. "I would like a cheese burger with an order of fries, and...what would you like, Gerald?" The young rabbit wasn't paying attention, still looking at the hedgehog still sitting at the table. "Just get him the same, it's okay."

Juan looked at Gerald, noticing that the rabbit was starring at them. "Can I help you, kid?" he asked rudely, banging his glass on the table after taking a drink. Regal looked at Gerald and Varudo, then back to Juan. "Chill out dude." he said. Juan scowled at the hedgehog, then turned back to Gerald. "Well? Are you gonna answer me or just stand there like the idiot I'm sure you are?" he demanded again.
( Yeah, as you can probably tell, Juan isn't the friendliest of porcupines.  )

Juan stood and walked over to Varudo. "And I would appreciate it if your friend refrained from starring at me. From where I'm from, starring is a rude act in itself." he said, rubbing his eyes. "And besides," he began, "Given that he was starring at me for some time, I would assume that he had noticed that I am in a particularly foul mood, thanks to my present company."
Regal looked at him and stood up. Walking over, he put his hand on Juan's shoulder, then quickly removed it when he remembered something about Juan's culture. He signaled Juan, who grunted and returned to his seat after hesitating briefly.
"Hey," he said to Varudo and Gerald. "Sorry about Juan, he's not the most kind of people. My name is Regal Lhanta, yours?"

Despite being annoyed by the porcupine known as Juan, Vurado calmly introduced himself and his friend to Regal. "My name is Vurado Saffruge. My friend here is Gerald the Rabbit." He then looked back at the porcupine and said, "And contrary to what you believe, he is NOT an idiot. Gerald is smart enough to be a scholar."

Juan grunted. "Well a smart person should know better than to stare at strangers who they don't know what their capable of." he responded with a scowl. Regal sighed and said, "Believe it or not he's a reliable guy once h- . . . if he warm's up to you." Juan heard him and grunted again. "Regal, get over here!" he demanded. "I can't read the blasted language on this menu for the life of me!" As Juan spoke, a noticable Spanish accent could be heard. Regal frowned and said, "Just wait a minute, Juan!"

Regal followed them both to explain Juan's inability to read the menu. "That's actually quite easy to explain. Compared to where he's from, this place's lighting is very dim. That, coupled with the fact that he only decided to learn how to speak English, make it difficult when he has to read something. Juan's actually a genius, but he just finds some things pointless to learn. We're only supposed to be in town for like two weeks, and then Juan's going back to his home where there's nothing written in English."
As Regal spoke, Juan starred at the menu. A cricket hopped out of his pocket and sat on his hand. After it chirpped several times, Juan nodded and called the waitress over.

Were it alive, what would such a being feel?
Would it live only to fight,
And fight only to live?
Would it be controlled
By those with the skill to do so?
I believe that it would cry
For each person it has ever brought harm to,
Its tears as red as the blood it has spilled.
