"uhhhhh...." they both uttered in unison, as they had a habit of doing. "Long enough!" Midnight yelled, now getting back up a bit agrivated. She decided to change her aproach and stand in a defenseive pose, ready to see what the green barrier would do. Ace looked at Mithos with a questionig look. "A chao? Really? I know it's a chaos chao, but still, a five year old could defeat it." he said although something struck Ace about the chao as odd. Like it wasn't a normal chao at all.

My brother and I have, quite literally, been training our entire lives. Since day one, there hasn't been a day we haven't broken a sweat. Eighteen years!" he growled. Fire began to swirl around his body inside the shield, lining the walls and filling the shield's inside like water in a balloon. Phaze looked at Ace quizzically. Mithos nodded, and it smiled. "Chao chao!" he said happily as it turned in the air. A brilliant flash of light enveloped the room, the light coming from Phaze. When the light dissappeared, Mithos was nowhere to be seen.

Pos said confidently. "But that's only five years." neg said quietly. "SHUT UP NEG!" boh midnight and pos yelled at the same time, weird as ussually neg was the one matchig pos' voice. "Crap!" Ace said quickly when he could see again. How could he have let that happen, how could he have been so stupid? He made a desperate run for the emerald, his wings helping him along.

"I knew it." he said. "Oh, and be careful what you do. I attack, and you're in danger. You attack me and break the shield, my flames are released." A icy wind filled the security room. Several flies and other bugs fell from the ceiling and walls, dead from the cold. Frost began to form on the cold, hard metal. Phaze trilled in delight as a small pile of snow formed below it. Laughing, the Chao dove head first into the snow. As Phaze played, Mithos came back into view as it became even colder. But he wasn't Mithos. Now he was a menacing, rhino-sized lizard with white scales. His tounge lashed out, flying towards Ace.

She decided to go on the defensive again, as long as no one's attacks hit, no one got hurt. She noded at the twins and they noded back, a non verbal comunication possible because they all were created from the same single cell. The three got ready for what Dusk was going to do. Ace only had seconds to send the mental command to turn all the sub-atomic particles in his body into neutrons, so when the tounge impacted, it went right through the hawk. He shook of his shock and tried to cut the creatures tounge, but missed.

"The tension is deadly, isn't it?" he asked with a laugh. "It's simply murderous!" Taking advantage of the opprotunity, Mithos charged towards the Chaos Emerald and wrapped his tounge around it, pulling it back into his mouth.

Thery weren't going to be stupid enough to attack, nor did they figure out how. "where the hell are all the soldiers?" Asked midnight. Pos and Neg both shrugged. "Alright, well if you won't kill yourselves I will!" he yelled, charging towards them. Mithos swung around, appearing to be attempting an attack on Ace. Instead though, he snapped his tail across a security laser. Spitting out the Emerald, Mithos returned to normal and threw it to Ace. As the security system went off, Phaze created another flash of light while Mithos turned into a fly and left the room through a narrow crack.

They charged eachother with positive and negative energy so much, that the opposition of forces was great enough to throw them out of the way of the attack. Midnght took another risk and jumped toward the charge kicking the sheild hard. A few soldiers burst into the command room. "sir! We caught the theif!" the comander's face turned into a rare smile, bt returned to the normal frown when he saw who had set off the alarm. "Ace...." all ace could do was smile and hope for the best.

Suddenly, Mithos ran to his side. "I see you still can't finish anything quickly!" he said. Dusk huffed and said, "And you end things to quickly." Mithos shook his head in annoyance. "Let's go, we need to report to the Doctor." he told Dusk, who reluctantly left. Turning to the group, Mithos said, "Your friend Ace is on trial. You'd best go and make sure that he is okay." the purple hedgehog then nodded to them and shot off into the distance. Phaze flew by the three and waved at them as it flew backwards, then turned again and chased after Mithos and Dusk.

Any body who had seen the news in the past few years instantly thought of an infamous evil scientist when this was mentioned. The three returned to find Ace getting scolded by the commander. "You were supposed to guard THE BASE!" He yelled. "Hey, if I hadn't been there, he'd have stole it!" "because of you i had to send my soldiers to get you when they could have been helping you all fight the hedgehog!" "Don't pretend like you were going to anyway!" This time Midnight had spoken up. And soon she was included in the yelling as well.

"A minor setback." he said, rubbing his eyes. "Did you find anything out?" Dusk shook his head. "Dusk? More like Dunce." said Mithos as he stepped forward. "We discovered that the secret weapons we'd learned about were actually artificial lifeforms like us. I could tell because while I was looking at them I could feel a difference between them and ordinary lifeforms." Eggman rubbed his chin. "Interesting." he said. "Dusk! Go and tell the troops to prepare for Assault AB21!" Dusk sighed and nodded, walking away in boredom. "Mithos!" he began, looking at the purple hedgehog, "I've recently discovered an odd jewel with energy readings similar to the Chaos Emeralds. I was unable to get close to it, so I need you to follow these directions to the site where I found it!" Mithos nodded and scanned the coordinates displayed on the screen. "Understood." he said, shooting away. Inside his cell, Doctor Jacob lifted his head slightly. <Now.> he said, relaxing his mind. A mental pulse emitted from his body and shot throughout the base. Eggman scratched his head as the pulse passed him, but none of his machines felt it. < Attention, this is Doctor Iven Jacob. I have been captured by Doctor Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik. My location is as followed . . . > his message said. The message shot towards the G.U.N base. Once there, Iven's message would play on the loudspeakers across the base.

" The commander was cut off by the sudden distress call. "...some one trace that message!" He yelled at his crew. They all shock their heads. "we can't sir, there's no input value, it's just...there..." The commander rubbed his head in thought, then turned to the four. "looks like you have a chance to redeem yourselves."

Deciding to save his energy, he'd chosen to ride a Wheel extreme gear to the site of the odd jewel the Doctor had told him about. Searching the dense forest on foot, he turned as he glanced a bright orange light. Walking towards it, Mithos saw a small, perfectly spherical jewel nestled in a crater, emitting the odd glow. Cautiously, Mithos approached the orb and picked it up. Upon being picked up, the orange light increased slightly. Seeing an ant on it, Mithos flicked it away. The gem immediantly stopped glowing as brightly as it'd been. Shrugging, Mithos left the woods. He was unaware of a small, flying camera with the G.U.N lable on it watching him as he mounted his Wheel and drove off. Feeling confident now, Iven continuously began to fire his distress signal to make it easier and more likely for people to find him.

The four, now temporary GUN agents, figures of Ace, Midnight, Pos, and Neg crouched a bit away from it. "you guys remember the plan right?" Ace said as was standard. Midnight nodded and the boys responded with a simultaneous "ugh...yeah?" Midnight held onto ace and they both lifted into the sky, dropping high above.
