(Or so you think!)

(Turns until nanobots are available: 3)

Gauge managed to recover from the the knee kick in time to notice the attack from above. He swerved backwards, avoiding the attack. The attack missed, the hedgehog saw his opponent fall toward the abyss below. 'Oh no you don't,' he thought as he flew downward at high speed. Stretching out one of his arms, he attempted to grab Taylor. The hedgehog missed the first couple times, but he finally caught Taylor by the collar of his shirt. Moving his feet downward, the descent of the two slowed as Gauge directed Taylor and himself toward the nearest platform. Less than ten feet from the ground, Gauge dropped Taylor on the platform, landing soon after on the same platform.

Sandopolis Act 2
Once they'd both landed, Taylor whirled out his gun and had it fractions of an inch from Gauge's face when his gimped knee gave. He went down to his good knee, dropping his gun in the process, then threw up at his opponent's feet. He braced an arm to the ground to keep himself from splashing into the bile, breathing heavily. "Damn... you think you're some kind of hotshot, don't you?" He grunted, trying to push himself back to his feet. He managed to get relatively upright, with smoke rising from his braced right hand. I'm really drained now. It's taken everything I had to last this long... and it's still not enough! Flames licked around his left hand, curled into a fist. Taylor threw one last punch to send Gauge off the edge and out of the tournament. Failure this time would leave him splayed out with his face fallen into his own vomit, lacking the strength to stand.
Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives. They have no place amongst decent and honest folk.

((Though it doesn't really matter at this point...)Turns until nanobots become available: 2)

Gauge caught Taylor's fire-enveloped punch in his hand. Though the flame burned at his hand, Gauge still held the fist, keeping his opponent from falling face first in his own bile. "I'm no hot shot," Gauge said, resting one of his feet on Taylor's gun, pinning the weapon to the ground. "Nor do I show mercy. I could've let you fall into that pitch-black darkness. But before this tournament began, I chose to neither kill nor be killed for another's amusement. You have the rest of your life, but there is too much resting on me to die here in this hellhole."

What is the difference between a duck?

Wayward Planeswalker (Taylor)

Fair Play
10/10
Even in a situation where everything you tried failed to do anything truly harmful, you stuck to your gameplan and didn't force anything unfairly, too bad your effort to play fair really wasn't recieved. You get the full score just off the virtue of prevailing in such harsh conditions.

Grammar
9/10
I noticed like.. 1 instance of missing words that slightly broke the flow of your sentences and since it stayed stuck in my mind I guess it seems worse than it really is. Your grammatical skills are fine, no worries.

Adaptation to Setting
8/10
Solid use, I like how your character noted jumping from platform to platform would be harder with the messed up leg. Overall, nice job in getting the arena slotted in, though the use became a little sporadic after you began running out of gas over irritation.

Entertainment Value
9/10
I really liked how you took the reader into Taylor's desperation and thoughts, along with nice description of the battle overall. I have to knock you a little for the one liner post that came as you really started running out of options but based on all the other posts, as well as the turn around to bring you back to form, it shouldn't be a nagging issue. Just don't go around falling into vomit too often. x3

35/40

Sonikku-Otaku (Gauge)

Fair Play
2/10
You took just about 2 hits (1.5 really since the exploding projectile did nothing but reverse your momentum) and literally evaded or blocked everything else, paired with an overuse of enhancements and chaos shields all the time (the shields not even being in your profile description).. I really should give you a one, possibly a zero... but you took 1 and a half hits so.. yeah. I rounded up I guess.

Grammar
8/10
I rushed my skim so I can't say I saw anything too wrong with your grammar either. All I can say is that you should really never start a new sentence with the word "But" as well as a few other minor dings.

Adaptation to Setting
5/10
There was noticing the arena and such but when combined with all of the use of powers n' such, it didn't really factor into much.

Entertainment Value
7/10
As awful as the fair play was I at least like the move to play hero and save your opponent from falling. You wanted to turn your character into one of the super awesome unstoppable nice guys which really doesn't work in a tournament format but at least you threw personality into your work along with some minor descriptions.

22/40

Current total
Sonikku- 22
Wayward- 35

【The Knight of Tigers 】

SONNIKU-OTAKU
Fair Play: 5/10
- You did take a couple of hits - out of about a dozen attacks - but didn't seem to be adversely affected in any way. What really dragged you down, though, was the fact that you blocked a bullet with a chaos shield when the gun in question was approximately 24 centimetres away from your face. Considering that a typical slug travels at around 330 metres a second and the thought processes required to shape and direct raw chaos energy are significantly less than instant... well, unless your character is the equivalent of the Flash or Superman in terms of reaction speed, you're pretty screwed any way y'wanna slice the cake. Oh, and the nearly precognitive tactical intuition your character flaunted was another big one too (the bit with the aetheric smoke where you sat back and crossed your arms).
Grammar: 9/10
- Only problem here is not going into a new paragraph when someone speaks, something too many people do. Other than that, great work.
Adaptation to Setting: 6/10
- Eeeeeeeeeh, nothing special here. Barely even mentioned the platforms.
Entertainment: 7/10
- You used quite a few interesting little techniques and I liked the creative attack forms you used (even if they were a little shady at times...). The Doctor Manhattan 'You stand no chance against my powers' routine got real tired real quick though.

WAYWARD PLANESWALKER
Fair Play: 9/10
- You took almost everything thrown at you AND YOU REACTED REALISTICALLY AGAINST AN ELECTRICAL ATTACK! Here I was thinking I was the only person who did that, har har har. However, not full marks because you did pull a few stunts in your desperation that looked like attempts to box Sonniku's character into a box where he'd HAVE to take the blow (and under normal circumstances probably would have done so).
Grammar: 8/10
-Firstly, you didn't go into a new paragraph when someone speaks, an uncomfortably common grammatical error. And secondly, you abuse commas and semi-colons like they're going out of fashion. Other than those two, you did a good job.
Adaptation to Setting: 8/10
- Took note of and reacted to hazards. Your little trick with using illusions to trick Gauge into breaking the platform he was standing on was well-played.
Entertainment: 8/10
- Well characterised, used some nice tactics, tried your darndest to fight against seemingly overwhelming odds without resorting to godmodding (though you did come close two or three times) and once again YOU REACTED REALISTICALLY AGAINST AN ELECTRICAL ATTACK, which will not fail to spin me out for at least a week.

Sonniku - 27
Wayward - 33

This match was intruiging, another one of the ones we've had where two vastly different players were pitted against each other with their clashing play styles making the entire thread look like a haywire Geiger counter (back and forth and back and forth and back and...). So, good luck to whoever gets through. Let's count the final score, shall we?

Sonniku - 49
Wayward - 68

Wayward is the victor of this match. Carry on, you rowdy lot and onto round 2 we go!

Sandopolis Act 2
Taylor barely heard Gauge's words through the pounding of his blood through his temples. In this situation, without being so utterly exhausted, he could have detonated the magic that kept his hand alight and possibly vaporized his foe. He didn't have enough in him for that kind of fifty-ton blast, but all he needed to take this match from the jaws of defeat was the arcane equivalent to a cherry bomb, easily gathered even at the point of exhaustion. He braced his knee against the platform through the puddle of vomit and snapped his head up, giving Gauge a defiant glare, and releasing the energy channeled into his fist in a hot, grip-breaking burst. Gauge staggered back, and Taylor, drawing on a reserve of stamina he didn't know he had, rammed his shoulder just below the hedgehog's throat, sending him careening into the abyss. He had surprised Gauge enough that he'd forgotten about the jet shoes. In fact, he had surprised himself. He toppled back onto his hands as the platform began to fall, though this didn't entirely register as he scrabbled for his handgun. If I didn't, they would have, Taylor thought. And I don't want to know what they would do if either of us were entrusted to their 'mercy.' They can't get you now. If I survive... I'll light a candle for you.

"What a turnaround! Now that.... that's a good show."

Sadistic boomed his voice down upon the arena from his chair far above and clapped his hands softly.

"I'm glad that I get to watch a kill for once rather than have to do it myself over and over... and over.. you got a spine, kid!"

He snaps his fingers as Taylor begins to dissipate back to the cafeteria.

"Now all you need to do is tell your stomach to hold on tighter when you get moved from place to place." He laughs as Taylor is nearly completely gone.

"See ya again soon!" He caps off the encounter with one more Joker-esque laugh as Taylor fully dissipates and is returned to the cafeteria.

(Exit Taylor / Gauge is now eligible for the void)
