What is the difference between a duck?

This thread is dedicated to the first round match up between the competitors listed in the title. You will have 2 weeks to compete however a generous gap of 1 week is allowed for a non posting period... if either competitor takes longer than 1 week to make a reply then their characters fate is instantly handed to their opponent and/or the judges and they will be declared the loser. Begin with posts of your characters regaining consciousness and realizing that they are back in their natural bodies and retain all memories from the cafeteria. |

(I think I should now mention that Mediacom took away the cable at my house, so I'm at a SERIOUS disadvantage as far as posting time goes, since I, ONCE AGAIN (>_<), have to go to the library for only two hours of internet time a day. My interest in this RP has been terribly waning anyway, so I think I'll just simply dropout if this new turn of events is going to pose any serious problems.) |

Sandopolis Act 2
|
Taylor didn't know too well what a hangover was like, but he probably guessed that this was similar. His head throbbed and his stomach heaved painfully as he simultaneously felt the crowd's shouting and recalled the violent end of the one judge. He leaned over to vomit, which he did upon actually seeing the pit the platforms of the arena were suspended over. As he finally stretched to his full height, he felt the platform beneath him begin to crumble away. He leaped to an adjacent one, and glanced around to find his opponent. Where is he? Oh gods, I'm gonna hurl again... he thought. |
| Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives. They have no place amongst decent and honest folk. | |

(Don't count me out yet ChocoJockey! It hasn't been a FULL week. I have decided to stay in this. I entered this thing, might as well see it through to the end.) As Gauge's soul returned to his body, it felt as though a truck hit both at the same time as his body breathed back to life. Despite the trauma he went through just now, he got back onto his feet with no effort. He looked around as he heard the crowd cheering. It was then that he noticed he was on a platform. 'Where is the guy I'm supposed to fight?' he thought to himself as he searched for his opponent. |

Sandopolis Act 2
|
(It's "Wayward" now. And I was just in time to nuke my post. We have four days. Let's make this good.) Taylor looked around, and saw Gauge. He looked like a decent fellow. He'd hate having to kill the hedgehog. Then again, Taylor thought of himself as a decent fellow, and he'd definitely hate to die here. He took stock of the situation. He's got a gun of his own, and that weird aura around those damn gems. My gun's in the coat, check. Feels full. Not a lot of ambient mana, so I can't overly rely on magic here. Maybe for a little pizzaz. All right. Let's light this sucker up! Taylor took a breath and leaped to the next platform, closer to Gauge. He would conjure a fireball and throw it at his opponent, half to get his attention, half to get a quick potshot in before it'd get hairy. Because what self-respecting pyro didn't chuck the occasional fireball? |

(Gauge doesn't have any gems on him.) Gauge noticed the fireball out of the corner of his eye. As he reached into his coat, he turned away from the attack. He pulled out his Chaos Gun, quickly aiming for his opponent. "A pyrokinetic. Bad news, but I've fought a pyrokinetic before," he said. He pulled the trigger on his Chaos Gun, a red beam of Chaos Energy coming out of the barrel straight at Taylor. |

Taylor noticed that Gauge was aiming the gun, saying something, then pulled the trigger. It occurred to him that not only was it annoying as hell, it also gave one a better opening to dodge. He was a platform over and low to it before the shot was fired. Okay. That energy. Does he have a chaos-energy battery on him, or is he one? Jeez. He didn't want to get shot while he was standing back up, so he slid until he was hanging over the edge of the platform, and threw himself over to the next one. He caught the next one with a whumf, pulled himself up, and drew his own pistol. "Pyromancer. Not pyrokinetic," he said. |

Gauge took off with extreme speed toward the nearest adjacent platform. He jumped up, intentionally overshooting the platform toward the next one over. As he sailed through the air, he shot off three more beams at his opponent. As he landed on the platform, he then said, "Pyrokinetic or pyromancer, the case still stands. You will not have an easy time against me." |

Taylor twisted in an uncomfortable manner, and felt like a pipeful of scalding water was pressed against his arm, just past the elbow; he'd been grazed by one of the beams. Once he'd caught his breath again, he just replied in a sly tone, "As long as you don't look down." Then he quickly aimed and fired the pistol at the hedgehog, the gunshot leaving a ring in both his and Gauge's ears, at least.

(I thought Taylor had a rifle?) Gauge blocked the bullet. How he did this was amassing some Chaos Energy into a shield to protect himself. "Let me show you what I can do," he said as his body began to crackle with electricity. In his free hand, he poured the electric energy into his palm. He then pointed his hand at his opponent as a bolt of lightning shot from the hedgehog's hand toward Taylor. |

Sandopolis Act 2
|
(OOC: Opted not to bring it in this time around.) Taylor saw Gauge's lips moving, but didn't hear a thing, the shot still left his ears ringing. Then he saw the electricity arcing over the hedgehog's body, felt the platform giving again, and went for the jump. Whatthehell. He should at least have a freakin' headache; it went off twelve feet in front of him! The twelve feet was merely a wild guess in his currently-panicked mind. Things were catching up to him, things he didn't need catching up to him until after the fight. Then came the matter of the bolt hitting his leg. His freaking LEG! That felt like his muscle and bone was set on fire. He'd know, too, he knew what it felt like to burn. He managed to land as the last platform he was on fell away, but he didn't land well. He barely kept himself from sprawling across the platform. I need to get closer. DAMN IT, I NEED TO GET CLOSER! What he needed was to think. How many shots had been fired? How much power did Gauge have? In retrospect, he should have studied his opponents more. His hand shaking violently, he whispered something that sounded eldritch and fired the gun again in Gauge's general direction. He didn't need it to hit, he just needed it to get close; then 'boom.' |

Gauge threw up another Chaos Shield as the bullet came at him. It blocked the bullet itself, but he didn't expect, nor account, for the insuing explosion the bullet made. The bulk of the blast was absorbed by the shield before the barrier gave way. The hedgehog was pushed back several feet when his shield was gone, his still standing body skidding back to the edge of the platform he was on. "Not bad. Didn't expect your ammunition to explode," he shouted, making sure his opponent could hear from afar. But that wasn't the end of it. The explosion caused the platform to start crumbling away. Gauge kept his cool as he jumped back to the platform behind him. |

Sandopolis Act 2

Taylor had fired two shots, leaving seven in the clip, and he hadn't taken any extra ammo in with him. "Gotta be... creative," he muttered. Things had gone from bad to worse; the bolt of lighting had more-or-less screwed up the nerves in his leg, making the already-harrowing leaps positively terrifying prospects. Damn! He's playing keep-away and my only chance is to get closer... Taylor grit his teeth, stashed the handgun back in his coat, got a fast limping start, and took the leap. |

Gauge quickly made a dash toward Taylor. He wanted to finish this as soon as possible before his opponent got the chance to shoot anymore of those exploding bullets. Hitting the skull tattoo on his right arm, something happened. His muscle mass, particularly in his arms and legs, grew. One could now see the muscles in the hedgehog's body. This wouldn't just be for show, for now his punches and kicks would be more destructive, and he'd be able to withstand greater force. (He can also jump farther and higher. After activation, I'm having his nanobots be active for only 5-7 of my turns, in case you forgot from what I put on my guy's application. The countdown starts on the next post!) |
