Flying Battery Act 2
|
[Listen, if I interpret how you posted wrong, just tell me and I'll edit. Sorry, but the way you wrote that is quite confusing, and I bet I'm gonna see it in my head wrong. As best as I can tell he's just running quickly after Nail and hoping to catch up.] Nail heard Vanadium's clunking footsteps behind him as he hit the next platform. Sounded like he was very close now. He seems desperate to end this fight fast. That isn't wise. He must be burning through his batteries between all his flashy weapons and finishing moves... In any case, he wasn't sure if he could outrun Vanadium for the duration of the entire fight. So he'd need to do something to slow him down...permanently. Nail started running for the next platform, then suddenly jinked to the left and jumped for the platform in that direction instead. Sure, he's fast. But with as heavily armored as he is, he would have to be heavy and not very agile. I don't think he'd be able to adjust to changes in direction that fast. Should buy me enough time to strike back... [no, your fine, though he should be able to catch up, as stated in my bio, vanadium's armor is much lghter than his normal armor] Vanadium was beginning to tire, the bullets having moderately damaged his circuitry, but his willpower was unwavering. He continued to pursue Nail. Whenever he had an opening, He would attempt a slash with his blades to keep him on his toes. Then suddenly Nail made a sharp jump to another platform, Vanadium acted quickly in order to keep up, he made a quick turn with the aid of his boosters and continued his pursuit. [Yeah, but as I listed, one of Nail's advantages is that he's fast. Evasion is one of his specialties, since he likes hit and run attacks, and right now he's in a purely defensive/evasive mode too. It's much harder to hit someone who is dedicating all of his energies to evasion.] As Vanadium was starting to leap onto Nail's new platform, the fox, true to his species' quick nature, had suddenly spun around 70 degrees and was jumping back onto the old platform they were just on. So as Vanadium landed he was back where they were just a second ago. Then he rushed across it, not stopping and leaped for the next platform beyond that. By this time though, the platform he'd just run across was shaking since they'd both been on it for a brief period of time in the previous action. If Vanadium followed like he'd been doing up till now... Edited by Nail Strafer, Sep 7 2009, 08:58 AM.

[ok then] Vanadium ceased pursuing and matched his opponent run like the coward he is. "Coward, FACE ME!" Vandium cafefully studied his opponents movements. He is fast and maneuverable, when confronted with a close quarters situation, he runs. But if there was nowhere for him to run, he would be at my mercy With that thought in mind, Vanadium formed a strategy. Edited by Red Ranger Eater, Sep 7 2009, 10:26 AM.

[So, he stopped running? Sorry...the first line implies he stopped chasing and then started chasing again. But the rest of the post makes it sound like he stopped chasing, so I'll go with that.] Nail whirled around, surveying the results of his move. He sighed a bit. Looked like Vanadium wasn't that stupid after all. The platform collapsed harmlessly, leaving both of them separated. But this did give him a chance to retaliate now that he had some distance. Time to put in his idea for slowing down Vanadium. He brought up his P90...but then jerked the gun down, instead of up. Nail was targeting Vanadium's legs, hoping to disable his opponent. Surely he could hit a hydraulic line or something... He's effective at blocking small bursts and he doesn't like to dodge, so the key is to fire so much that he can't stop them all. So...he squeezed the trigger and laid down a barrage of bullets in Vanadium's leg area...sweeping the gun across them as he did. Vanadium took a defensive stance and made use of his sabers again, once again using them to deflect Nail barrage. out of the 7 that were fired, 3 were blocked, 2 had missed him completely, and 2 had embedded themselves into each of his legs. The first one did not hit any vital circuitry, he was not so lucky with the second one, for it had severed the fuel line to his right booster, disabling any flight based strategies Vanadium had. This act infuriated Vanadium to no end, to have been reduced to this state, the damaged section of his body emitting stray sparks and tiny bursts of electricity. He was at his wits end. He had been stable so far, but this pushed him over the edge. He had hoped he wouldn't have to use it in the first round, but this vermin was persistent. Transferring all of his expendable energy to his plasma energy Tank, Vanadium prepared to unleash his most destructive force. The audience, who had been cheering Vanadium for his aggression suddenly fell silent as a ominous sound filled the arena, it was a mix between electric sparks and flowing lava. Vanadiums 3 back spines articulated themselves so they were all pointing toward Nail. A steadily increasing ball of blur lightning formed in the center of the tips of the spines. while this was happening, Vanadium charged his plasma cannon to its max. When both forces were powered to their full potential, Vanadium unleashed his plasma cannon, which instantly struck the ball of lighting, creating a devasting chain reaction resulting in a tremendous surge of energy. A Devastating Beam of Blue and Violet energy rocketed toward nail with lightning speed, disintegrating every platform it passed. Flying Battery Act 2

[Just one. I fired seven shots, not ten. Also...this post will require me to presume that Vanadium is turning to face Nail as he runs. It sounds like it takes a little bit to power up this attack, and I don't think Nail would just stand there and wait for it.] Well, that looks beautiful. Nail surveyed the sparks with a small smile. Finally, it seemed one of Nail's gunshots had done something besides piss the guy off. Unfortunately, this one had REALLY pissed him off. He too noticed the audience suddenly going quiet, and the ominous sound filling the arena. It looked powerful...but it was also taking him a while to charge it up. That gave Nail just a few seconds to decide how he was going to react to it. I shouldn't get further away...I should run closer to him. That way, he'll have to rotate faster to keep me in his sights...if he can rotate that fast. So...he took off running...jumping diagonally right towards another platform. That would put him on the platform diagonally left and front from Vanadium's. Nail didn't stop though...jumping to the platform just to the left of Vanadium's. In this way...he hurried for the platform diagonally to the left and behind Vanadium. But it was at this moment that Vanadium unleashed his cannon. As Vanadium rotated to track Nail with his beam, it vaporized the platform behind him. He started to jump for the next platform...when the shockwave of the beam hurled him sideways through the air...the lightning in the beam electrocuting him simultaneously. He screamed from the electrocution as he was hurled through the air...crashlanding on a platform and rolling to the edge of it...before coming to a halt. Between the impact and the electrocution...he would definitely need a moment to get up again. Nail groaned from the pain as he started to get up on one leg. He just hoped Vanadium needed some kind of cool-down period after that beam move before he could attack again... |

[ok, I will make the necessary change] as Vanadium tracked his opponent with the beam, the onboard computer alerted him that his energy tanks were becoming increasingly low, vanadium ignored it and knowing he had mere moments before he would enter stasis lock, he drew the beam closer to his now stunned opponent. The energy of the beam was vaporizing the surrounding platforms but it was beginning to wane, Vanadium struggled to bring the beam to the platform nail was occupying, his computer warning him "energy output critical, further output will result in stasis lock". The beam reached the bottom of the platform and ceased. It had not hit nail, but it succeeded in vaporizing his platform. Vanadium's computer delivered a final warning. "stasis lock immanent, failure to activate will result in permanent shutdown" Vanadium was now struggling to stay on his feet, he dropped to his knees and with a static filled mutter said "enter...stasis...lock" his visor became a dull gray, and he collapsed head first onto the hard platfom. [well thats the last post for me] |

He's...still...firing... That drove Nail to his feet faster than anything. As the beam was coming down to saw his platform up, he was now on two feet. He was already on the edge of his current platform anyway... The next one was within spitting distance. If he could just...get...enough energy...to spring...forward...a bit... He pushed all his energy to his legs...and then pushed off from the platform...where it was shortly vaporized after. Not really bothering to do a careful landing from needing to jump in a hurry...he crashlanded on the next platform roughly on his shoulder...before screeching to a halt. That didn't feel too good after getting hit by that electro beam... Nail grunted heavily from the impact...groaning as he lay there. He needed to get the energy back...to get up again. Please...let that be it... |

Quiet seconds passed as neither Vanadium's stasis-locked body or Nails beaten body made true movement. The crowd stayed silent as did Sadistic, him being particularly impressed by the fight on both sides. Closely inspecting the damages he could see Vanadium was down for the count.. or powered down to be more precise... Nail on the other hand seemed to be scraping to consciousness, though only just. Then began the clapping... slowly.. and calmly he expressed his pleasure. "Now that.. THAT is how you kick off a tournament!" The shadow-being crowd reacted with cheers towards the impressive performance as the judges words reverberated through the hellish carnival arena setting. With a snap of his fingers Sadistic disappeared and reappeared on Nail's platform, standing over him carrying the same pleased expression. Speaking to Nail alone, Sadistic was calm but carried obvious pleasure in his tone, "That was quite the show.. if I didn't have to dispose of the losers I'd probably keep the two of you to throw at each other more often." Vandium's platform shook and caved, dropping him into the abyss. "Congrats on your round one win, I'll be paying real close attention to how you fare later on." Nail is removed from the arena to be returned to Cafeteria, fading out after a few more moments of cheers from a more than quenched audience for the round. "My fine attendees, you have your winner, and the best... is only yet to come." ---------------------- Nail is now returned to the Inter-Round Cafeteria still feeling the effects from his match even in his displaced state once more. Vandium has dropped into the abyss, fate unknown.. stay tuned. Winner via KO (or outlasting batteries in this case) - Nail Strafer |
