TIME TO REALLY EXPLODE!
|
From what I can piece together, they wanted continuity throughout the game. They called Sonic running by himself "quite small" amongst the cars, citing problems with his colliding with said cars. They did try him running, apparently. EDIT: Those graphics look great. If this game's online multiplayer proves to be well executed and popular, I'll totally purchase it. Launch Base Act 1

Because reviews of Sonic Riders by big magazines are generally...mediocre at best. SEGA's going for a Smash Bros/Mario Kart angle to see if they can produce a good racing game. Though the reason for Sonic driving a car... Well it sounded to me like "He's in a car because he has to be." |

It actually makes a lot of sense if you consider how fast Sonic actually is on foot... |

I object to your claims
|
Agreed. I believe that if Sonic was on foot for the whole game, he'd most likely be called overpowered. Plus, you have to factor out the hedgehog colliding with other cars, as D-Metal-x pointed out. That would probably annoy some people.

Get lost in the... wait do I HAVE to change it?! D:
|
Ah. This makes a lot more sense. When I saw Sonic in the car I went "UH WAIT WHAT YOU SAY." ...why did I not consider the fact that cars are bigger than him and would squish him? Of course. And the fanboys will never listen, silly Vlad. Where have you been?

Launch Base Act 1
|
I'd just say completely blur the sense of speed in the game by making Sonic's high speed movement on part with that of the cars. There ARE graphical techniques to keep up that illusion but there's also a few canon reasons you can use, like the fact you've got Eggman and Tails making these cars so they could probably design it to keep up with Sonic's speed. Still, I'm guessing there's little you can do if they've decided that his size is a problem in comparisson to the cars... |
