Got some ripe GT5 info from Poly's website themselves. The most impressive part? HEADTRACKING!!! If you have a PSEye and you're in cockpit view, all you have to do is move your head to the left or right to change the camera to see beside you, as you would in real life.

Can you say definitive racing game of this gen?

Looks like we'll be seeing stuff on GT5 very soon!!!

For those of you out there who still aren’t convinced of Gran Turismo 5’s pending 2009 release date, take a look at the game’s official brochure handed out at last week’s GamesCom convention. Snapped by RiseOfGames, the brochure was quickly translated by forum users – but you don’t have to be fluent in German to figure out what “4. Quartel 2009″ means. Via user G.T.Ace:

G.T.Ace

Developer: Polyphony – Platform: PS3
Genre: Racing – Number of players: T.B.A.
Release: 4th Quarter of 2009

THE ULTIMATE RACING GAME RETURNS

(lots of stupid PR blah blah, really nothing important)
The player can choose between over 1000 cars to race on incredible detailed racetracks and unlock PlayStation Trophies (blah).
The new NASCAR and WRC championships improve the Gran Turismo experience.
Players are challenged to fight their way up the online leaderboards against other racedrivers from all over the world.

This game looks so good it actually makes me want to shell out on a PS3. Wow, you Sony fans have something to look forward with this and Uncharted 2.

I'll buy it, but not new. I don't want any of my cash making it back to Polyphony or Sony. They don't deserve it for taking five full years to develop it. Giving them my $60 will only encourage them to do this again.

Forza 3, on the other hand, I will buy brand-spankin' new the first day it comes out.

Weak... and of course it didn't take five years to develop, they were busy developing two games simultaneously which Kazunori Yamauchi recently stated that GT5 will be releasing soon after GT PSP.

Sorry if you don't like that, but it is kind of selfish to basically say, "I want GT5 now so stop making GT PSP". Basically take that five years, divide by 2, and you have how long it took to develop roughly. 2 1/2 years which is about standard for big games now days.

I'm excited for Nascar the most. I remember in GT2 you could turn the Taurus into a Nascar, but that was all you could do. I really don't like watching Nascar and I'm not a fan of it, but I do like the games. It takes skill to race in Nascar.

Metallix, your math doesn’t work. If they were working on the two games simultaneously, that would still be five years to release GT5. I won’t be getting GT PSP, so these delays have absolutely diddly-squat benefit for me. I think it’s perfectly okay for me to be unhappy about that. Wouldn’t you be unhappy too if something you were really looking forward to got delayed by something you didn’t care about?

This is just what you do in a capitalistic society. If you don’t like the way one company works, you do business with another company. Why put up with somebody you're unhappy with when you've got other choices? This is why I’m gonna show my support for Microsoft by buying new, ensuring my money makes it to them.

For me, I would say it’s more the WRC. I wonder how extensive this mode will be. In GT2-4 it was kind of a hanger-on mode that didn’t have a lot of tracks. But NASCAR does look pretty fun too. The Eye Toy thing does sound awesome as well. Pressing a button just to look to the left or right always felt cumbersome to me.

This game looks awesome! The 360 doesn't even stand a chance of running graphics like that! I'm not too sure about the WRC though - I mean, they've always had Dirt stages in GT haven't they? The only real difference would be the licence. All the same though, this is set to be an astonishing game.

Yeah but I'm thinking that there will be a whole mode added to it. It does say in the features, "Race Championship" plus there will probably be more official WRC tracks.

Sure it works, when you work on two games one always takes the backseat for awhile. I'm sure it went back and forth with GT PSP and GT5. When they were focusing on GT PSP they weren't really working on GT5 and vice versa. So you can't say it took them a full five years to develop.

I wouldn't be unhappy, I would be happy knowing that they are making a good game and not rushing it out every year like other developers. I'm really happy that GT5 doesn't have that stupid "rewind" feature. What moron thought that would be good for a simulator? I mean it was good in those arcadey style games but has absolutely no place in a sim.

I know a lot of people like these kind of racing games, I personally have nothing against them, but im more partial to games like burnout and motorstorm.

But with features like those even I have to say, I'm pretty damn impressed.

Do you have a source for any of their production schedule? Until you have that, this is all just speculation and a waste of time.

I wasn't talking about GT5, but anything in general.

Do you wanna turn this into yet another Forza VS GT topic? I was kind of trying to steer the topic away from that. We've already been through this in one or two other topics, and I don't think anything good would come out of it if we did it all over again here.

It's why I decided to share some positive comments on GT5 instead of doing nothing but bashing it. If you are going to talk about Forza 3 you could at least do the same, unless you wanna make yourself look even more fanboyish than before.

Good now you can see how much of a waste it is to claim they spent 5 years developing Gran Turismo 5.

I wasn't talking about anything specific either.

Forza isn't the only game with a rewind feature, didn't Grid have that or one of those CM games? I know a semi-simulator game had it, I just forgot the name. Forza is a good game, but until it can equal GT in content and features I won't consider it an equal. It is good competition though and that is what keeps both titles on its toes.

You can call me a fanboy all you want but the fact is I have a 360 where I live and play it regularly. Not as much as my PS3 though. Me liking something over another is no different than you liking something over another. However, I wasn't the one who brought it into the conversation subsequently bashing GT5.

Remember what MoD said about immature arguments? Honestly, I don't want this topic to become another one of those. Perhaps we should just move this to PM and let the discussion continue on without our little fight.

There is nothing more to discuss as far as what we were discussing in this thread.

No offense to MoD/anyone else, but if you overreact over some heated debates you probably shouldn't be on a forum in the first place. This is a forum and forums are designed for debate/discussion. This forum seriously lacks debate or any kind of deep discussion.

Dude, did someone spit in your oatmeal today? You sound like you need to calm down a bit. Honestly, if I wanted to, I could keep this fight going. Truth to be told I wrote a whole other post answering your points, but decided to write that up there in the end.

But in case you haven't noticed we are shifting away from the game and going to sniping at each other, which really should be a private discussion between just us. That's not an intelligent debate. That's just a fight.

Listen, we do need to try harder to keep this on GT5 if you want a serious discussion, ok? I didn't think one offhand comment about Forza 3 in my first post would derail the topic this much.

Lol, I haven't said anything out of anger and I have not typed in an angry manner aside from that moron comment which I really was saying that jokingly. Like I said you could keep it going but there is nothing more to discuss, it would just be going in a circle.

As for GT5 I'm glad it's releasing shortly after the PSP version. I may just get the PSP version despite GT5 being the one with all of the big updates like damage, Nascar, and WRC. GT on the go would be great and the best portable racer out there.

It's also reported that the code presented at Gamescom is older code, so it's not up to date with what they are working on now. Which is good because it still needs some improvements to the damage, but bad because that could mean a longer wait. I wouldn't mind it taking till March to come out if it means an even better product, it's not like three months is long although I'm betting it will come out in December. All the hits have narrowed it down to December.
