It seems Team Ninja is teaming up with Nintendo to work on the next Metroid game, titled Metroid: Other M. Check out the vid for it:

Opinions?

^ No need to double post.

Team Ninja working on it surprised me a bit. I always have been a Metroid fan but I also love Ninja Gaiden. =D I'll probably love this game.

As long as they dont put Samus is a swimsuit it will be Ok.
The gameplay looks way more intense then the Prime series.

Gah, it only took me forever to find this topic. Forum needs a search function. XD

Been looking forward to this game ever since it was announced, old schoolish jumpy shooty action? Heck yeah! Been in love with the series ever since the original Prime, but I've found the 2D ones appeal to me more.

Anyway, I watched a new trailer the other day and my hype meter was turned up to 11. I so want this game, right now. :P

It's a trailer for the story I think, but it's all in Japanese so you're not going to get much out of it apart from names.

MUST PLAY! I've been looking forward to this since I beat my first Metroid game (Prime 3 Corruption, lol).
I have an interest in spriting. If anyone has a request, don't hesitate to ask.

Oh hey, it does too! Shows how observant I am. Then again I've been on a single forum for almost 3 years now and they do it differently. I am a creature of habit it seems. My bad. XD

Back to Metroid, are you guys aware that this game plays with the Wiimote on it's side much like NSMBW does? The other forum I frequent has had nothing but hate for the idea, so I figured I'd ask what you guys think of this.

I'll go look for the Developer interviews and update this post with them once I've found 'em. They're a good watch and give you an idea of what's going on in their heads.

GOT IT: Found it after a little bit of digging. It's in Japanese but has subtitles. Also in two parts. Watch and become educated. :P

Nintendo said they wanted to have Other M feel like the old Metroid games so hence why they chose to have the controls with the Wii mote on its side since that would feel the most classic(Next to the classic controller of course which I dunno if that's available). However, I heard somewhere you also have the option to switch between the two gameplay styles anytime you want with the other style being similar to Metroid Prime's gameplay.

Yeah, I'm prefectly fine with it but I do hear a lot of "THIS WON'T WORK IN A 3D ENVIROMENT!" from people. XD

Also yes, when you point the Wiimote towards the screen you go into a first person view which allows you to scan the enviroment for hidden things and clues. You can also shoot certian things this way (like clearing rubble from a possible Morph Ball route or hitting an out of reach switch) but you're unable to move like this. So it's for scanning and hitting weakpoints on bosses I suppose. Can't say for sure until I've played it though.

TIME TO REALLY EXPLODE!
I've been wanting a new Metroid game for so long, so I'm definitely pumped for this game. <3

I'm purposely avoiding as many of the story-related previews and trailers as I can, as I want the game to be a real new experience. Though I have heard about the switching views business. That sounds interesting, to say the least, and I've seen people who played the demo saying it'll work. I guess I'll just get used to it like I did Prime's controls for the GCN, which I thought were weird at the time.

Yeah, I'm pretty much sure I'm going to adust to the controls real easily. It's Team Ninja we're talking about here, they know what they're doing. :P

OH AND GUESS WHAT! Australia just got a September 2nd release date! That's like a day after you guys, it's a miracle I tells ya! (No seriously, we're used to like one month or more gaps for first party Nintendo games.)
