I apologize to any and all applicants who have been waiting in vain for something to be done about the revitalization project of the GFX Army. But since it's just been sitting dormant, I'm going to take the initiative to get the ball rolling. But before we take any action, the first thing I would like for SB to decide is whether or not we even need this rank. I say we ultimately don't because they don't have any responsibilities that have lied squarely on their shoulders. The only ones I've heard from Metallix himself are to do site graphics and all member requests. Well, not only does he create and gather most of the site graphics himself, but we have a request forum in which anybody can participate in, nullifying any reason for the group to exist at this point. I would like to hear from everyone on the issue, especially existing GFX Army members: Do you think the group should or shouldn't exist? If we ultimately decide it does, then we must then decide on responsibilities that can logically fall on the group's shoulders or worse yet, rearrange how the request forum works and how and skins done. |

Well I personally do want the group, however I do admit it is a bit useless now. There isn't much work for us to do, and when there was work I did all that I could (just take a look at GFX Army Work Zone). |

I think the rank is unnecessary, for the most part. Arguably, any graphic requests can be handled on a case to case basis by the general forum public. I feel the system could be as simple as having a forum that’s visible to everyone; as you do now, apparently. In said forum, Metallix would make a make a topic, saying what he needs. Then, whoever is interested can post their work and he chooses. Now, feel free to correct me if I am wrong (which I am sure you will vehemently do), but isn’t that the same thing you do now, on the GFX Army board? Metallix makes a topic and whoever is interested answers? Or is it required for everyone to answer? I don’t know, I don’t have the scoop on it. Regardless, I think the whole forum should be able to make graphics for this place. Because I mean, ultimately it’s Metallix’s decision what goes on the forum, no matter who makes it, right? Moreover, as stated, he can and has made many of the forum’s graphics himself. And I’m guessing that whoever is in the GFX group now makes graphics and whatnot for fun, so I’m sure they would keep posting. Obviously I can’t say that for sure, since it’s their choice. So ultimately, I find the rank itself useless. |

I say the rank is unneeded. Personally, I think it would be better if the forum as a whole made graphics for =SB=. After all, like D'Metal X said, Metallix is the one who decides what kind of designs fit and don't fit on the site. |

I kind of think the ranks become dead and unnecessary.  If there was possibly more the rank could do or something, I'd say 'Go ahead and keep it.' On the flip side... there were a couple people requesting a few weeks ago for graphics, but the GFX didn't help, did they not? I'd say remove it, but let it be an aesthetic rank or something. Maybe make it an exclusive club. I don't think an official rank is needed anymore and in the current state they're not doing much anyways... I mean it was nice rank, but it has no purpose as of late. |

If they had more work. Then at least each and one would have something innovative to make out of their time as GFX members. But as far I've seen, most additions, have been made by Metallix him self. As long there is no important projects, the GFX members, have no need to exist and should there by seize to an exist. However, thanks for what each and one of them have come up with. It's not like they haven't done anything in their time as our red devils. But at this moment, all their doing, is showing around their fancy names in red colour. And if there is really a request about something that have to be done. I am sure we can ask for anyone with sufficient skill to hand out some graphics. I would rather keep them, but if they aren't going to do their work, get rid of them. But I'm still in a bind here. Everyone ruses to help me make the art that is needed for the avatar and awards stuff for the site. How am I expected to run them, if I can't rely on someone to make my stuff, those competitions will never come again, so until I have someone they stay on dormant status. |

I don't really think the GFX army should remain a rank as such. It would probably work as a joinable group more. Not to mention that half the current GFX army is as inactive as hell. So I say, scrap it. |

Ah-ha, that's where you're wrong. Staff doesn't focus that well on the moderated sections nor do the actual roleplayers who complain that the section has supposedly gone to hell even report any of the problems to us. The majority of our discussion behind the scenes doesn't focus on it at all. You're right that staff can handle the section and in fact a few of us have, myself included, but we haven't moderated it that well. Why? The responsibility of reading through pages and pages of these roleplays to simply find out who was and wasn't god-modding is indeed a time-eater. The solution? Have a branch of staff that's completely focused on it. Now if you have a better idea, then I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, let's get back on topic about the real issue here: The GFX Army. I realize that we have a huge consensus, but before simply deleting the problem to get rid of it, I would like to know if anyone has any ideas on how we can give the rank some purpose. If, again, you think that's a lost cause, then I'll simply report this topic to the boss and his henchman. xP;; Edited by BlizShadow, May 31 2009, 10:13 AM.

You see the little button at the bottom of the posts that conveniently says "Report"? It allows you to send an anonymous message to staff to let us know that someone is breaking a rule. If you don't use it, well guess what? It's very easy to assume that nothing is wrong and the members are acting with some sense. |

Yeah I know what the report button does, don't be condecsending, and it's not anonymous, the reportee's name shows up in the Report CP. You should probably encourage people to use it. If they are so pissed off at others for screwing up there RP a logical thing for them to do is report. Not talk shit back. And leave mods clueless. Don't you agree it'd be easier? EDIT!: If your using the RP Nobody's as a moderating group for the RP section would it be logical to assume that the GFX army should do the same for the art section, just a duck in the pond here. The message is anonymous in that a person reported doesn't know who did it or even know about it unless told. And yes, it would be easier, but there's only so much encouraging staff can do for members before they have to take the reigns themselves. Reporting is their responsibility, and if they don't do it for whatever reason then no amount of encouragement is going to make a difference. Now, this is all off topic. I want to get back to talking about the GFX Army. Them being moderators for the art section is actually a different idea, but the problem with that is how much of a problem has the art section become? We don't see a lot of anything come out of it nor have people complained about the way members are acting in it since I was first promoted. Moderators are born out of necessity first and foremost. Otherwise, we'd have staff for every single forum here. |

Well, I really can't see the moderation of the art section going anywhere. I've never seen any problems in the section, and it seems fine to me. Really what can you moderate in the art area? Closing and removing art topics in which there's disturbing pornographic artwork? Ensuring members are not flaming, but critiquing pieces of work? Making sure fan characters are in good taste (none for the lulz)? But really, have we ever had such a problem? I don't believe so. Out of all the art and fan character topics I've viewed, only recently have I seen people dissing a character instead of giving improvement (and the topic has been addressed already). I'm not really sure what could be implemented to keep the GFX army working. |

There really isn't anything to do now, BUT WHAT OF THE FUTURE? : O We can't really make any more skins cuz we already have a fudgeton... and I guess the only thing we have are awards... But oh well... I hate to sound clingy but... what about all the other work we have done? I can take blame and say I myself have done very little so if I should be power stripped so be it. But to all those who HAVE done work in the past, this is the reward they get and their rank among others stripped cuz there's no work? I think that's going a little overboard... Ok how does this sound... "Hey no one's causing any trouble around the boards... why the heck do we need admins? Or mods?" I dunno...
