LONDON & SAN FRANCISCO (May 28th, 2009) – SEGA® Europe Ltd. and SEGA® America, Inc., today announced Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing, a fast and furious battle to the finish line in this supercharged racer. Developed for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, the home video game system, Wii™ and the Nintendo DS™ system, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing will speed into stores in early 2010.

In a frantic battle to the chequered flag, Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing sees Sonic and friends speed around tracks set in mediaeval castle ramparts, lush rainforests and bustling cities, all taken from the visually rich and varied universes of Sonic and SEGA. Fan favourites such as Dr. Eggman, Tails, AiAi, Amigo and many more will join Sonic in their custom built vehicles, revving their engines and jostling to stay ahead of the pack. Each character will race around the track in cars, planes, motorbikes, and in AiAi’s case – a banana mobile! Secret short cuts, swift handling and avoiding strategically placed obstacles are certainly the best way to get to the top of the podium.

“Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing is no ordinary racing game. Its huge variety of characters and vehicles, plus the ability to play both online and off set it apart from other games of this type” commented Gary Knight European Marketing Director, SEGA Europe Ltd. “The team have pushed the boundaries on what you would normally expect and created a different and unique party racing title whereby you really can’t take anything for granted!”

And winning is only part of the fun in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing! Each character has a specific All Star move such as Super Sonic, Banana Blitz and Tails Tornado, allowing a quick way for competitors to get back into the race! Power ups and weapons can also be collected around the tracks and used against the opposition to ensure they don’t become a threat to that number one position… Players can battle it out in single or multiplayer mode, allowing up to four friends to race in frantic split-screen action, or up to eight players to compete online in the ultimate racing showdown.

Can Amigo scramble Dr. Eggman? Will AiAi say bye-bye to Tails? Are you gonna be faster than Sonic? The race will start in 2010… For more information please visit: www.sega.com/sonicracing.

We are still watching
According to SEGA's website, it is out:

But Steam's not releasing it until the 25th for PC, which is technically false advertisement on Steam/Valve's part. There was just allegations of this sort of thing on Steam's forums when some users who'd loaded Napoleon Total War (another SEGA game) up when it launched today, then were later locked out of it, told the release date was the 26th (when it was indeed today) until Steam fixed it. Lot of refunds and potential ones had gone on.

Gamestop however says it ships today. SEGA says its out. I'd go with what SEGA says.

Ladies and gentlemen. Hell has frozen over.

Today, Jet prower has told me that this game has gotten 8s on all platforms.

http://ps3.ign.com/objects/143/14353442.html

This is only one of the reviews, but you can check out the others. Though reader reviews are lower, its not exactly that reliable as the website itself.

What is the difference between a duck?

The game has gotten decent to positive reviews.. whaddaya know.. the demo wasn't an aberration, this is real. x3

The game has received mostly positive scores so far. GamesMaster gave the game 83% for the console versions and 70% for the DS version, calling it "the best kart racer on 360/PS3, but not quite the Mario Kart-beater we hoped for". Nintendo Power gave the Wii version 8/10 and the DS version 6/10. Official Nintendo Magazine gave both the DS and Wii version 75%. Computer Bild Spiele, the top videogame magazine in Germany, rated the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions a score of 2.32, which translates to a B. The Wii version was given a 2.46 score, which translates to B-. GamesRadar gave the game 8/10, praising its pick-up-and-play fun whilst criticizing its uninspired weapons. IGN gave both the console and DS versions 8.0 each, calling it 'a clone that gets it right.Gamespot also gave it 8.0, praising its responsive controls and excellent track design.

It's no Sonic Adventure 2 but it's somethin.

Yes, I was surprised when this game got such good reviews from these sites. FINALLY, these websites are not bashing a Sonicish game that is not a 2D game. It is like a miracle in a way. It is fun though, I know this since I own it.
I'm a gamer and always will be a gamer. If you don't believe me. I have 430 Video Games and 19 Consoles.

I doubt you could beat that unless you are a gamer as well! =P

So, let's see if you can outdo "The Jet Gamer"

What i mean is not when Sega doesn't develop it; like Sumo Digital made all stars and Bioware made Chronicles (which is awesome btw)

Yeah, there's varying opinions on Chronicles. Haven't played it myself, so I won't get into that argument.

I really wouldn't trust review ratings, though this is like the sign of the end of the world when it comes from IGN of all places.

There's rumours they will make NiGHTS downloadable content if the game sells well.
