I do not know, but they end up being one of the most popular of choices in Video games, either that or an alien invasion feel. Battlefield 1942 is a pure example of the WW2 kind of game. But you got to say most of the games of this genre are awesome. |

Day of Defeat was my all time time personal favorite when it comes to WWII games. For me: it's just extremely interesting to see and play out a map that's based an a war that's already passed. Plus we can't exclude interacting with others. Team 1 vs Team 2, Free-for-All, King of the Hill, Juggernaut. Though it is getting to be a little too much. Mainly when it comes to war movies. Every time I pass by the cinema a new Chinese war movie is showing. Somethings, lets face it, are overused to the nth power. |

Let's face it...WW2 makes an awesome video game setting. The story of the war is epic, the good guys and bad guys are obvious, there's all kinds of awesome weapons to play with, and all kinds of awesome possibilities for combat scenarios. I would love to see more games based on history. It's so much more fun exploring a historical setting in a videogame versus watching a movie or reading about it. |

Um, I don't. WW2 games are by far the most generic boring games out there. All history war games are, imo. I don't mind history games, but you've gotta admit all of the WW2 games are the same thing after another. Nothing sets a new WW2 game coming next year apart from one that came out in the 90s aside from graphics/controls Edited by Neo Metallix, May 22 2009, 09:13 PM.

Most of them are succesful. Take CoD 5, for example. Sure it's not what the people wanted, but it was still good. I think that they make those games because they'll know they'll be succesful. |

I agree! Seriously, do they really expect us to LEARN history from an action-packed game? All we want is the adventure, and the blood and gore! |

I do think adventure, and blood and gore are higher up on their agenda than having the player learn about history. WWII's usually just there as a backdrop to go kill a ton of people and play with all the toys that go with the setting. |

The winners are always the good guys, no matter what circumstance. Propaganda works real wonders you know ? If the Axis won we would be describing the British and the Americans as evil. ANYWHOO Most of VG companies are based in America and WW2 is the last war they did good in so they are making thousands of games based on that single war for some reason. And they only contributed only 10% to the victory; imagine if Americans did most of the work, we would only see WW2 titles. |

What a shame. I was starting to think everyone would get that I was being sarcastic. You ruined it all, Venny Besides, that was more of a reference to how both sides in WWII largely wore uniforms, which is great for videogames because it makes it easy to color-code who's on what side. While in the recent Iraq war and the Vietnam war, the enemy tends (or tended) to favor blending in to the general populace with no regular uniform. Edited by Nail Strafer, May 29 2009, 11:00 PM.
