Apparently I'm more dis-attached to the world then I thought I was. Yesterday the my house girl told me about some major flu/virus that's been reeking havoc across the world. Ok, so I'm over exaggerating a little bit. Out break started in Mexico http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8021547.stm and reading this articles makes it sound like this virus pretty much is already world-wide. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8021827.stm Apparently some people began to panic and Obama had to make a small speech to tell people to calm down. Err... discuss, i guess. |

It's only killed people in Mexico, so people in the north should be relativly safe, unless it mutates.

Well I be damn, this was on the news just yesterday. It have reached the northern parts of Norway as well. That is, Mexico ain't the only location where people die from the newly discovered flu. I wish it never become a major problem. But it doesn't sound positive when it can spread out. |

I find it interesting how just last week they were brushing this flu off as just another strain of the virus. This week they're seeing people die from it (and last week they were saying it would pass). |

The lucky thing is hat as it entered the US it mutated to a more dormant form. The unlucky part is that I live in California. Here, we have more that 15 cases, out of 50 in the US. |

It is HIGHLY UNLIKELY that any of us will get it. Unless you decide to go to Mexico any time soon. But this is serious. I understand Snooky's reaction, but he is almost always stoned. They said they have enough tempaflu or whatever for the world if this becomes a pandemic. But there around 80+ cases in the U.S. 1 died in the U.S. In Mexico there are A LOT of cases. 100+ have died. I would take EXTREME caution around anyone with flu like symptoms. Symptoms: -Fever over 102 -Flu symptoms -Vomiting -Aches and pains Etc. If you have had the flu, you'll know what I mean. But even if you have had your flu shot, IT WILL NOT HELP YOU TO AVOID GETTING THE SWINE FLU! |

This is the simple fact, Viruses adapt differently in different parts of the world. If the Swine Flu turns out to be ANYTHING like the pandemic of 1918 then we are in for a problem. That outbreak killed 50 million people, in today's relevant comparison.. about 200 mil. And people, we can't say "it's only killed in Mexico.." that is the flimsiest security blanket statement I've ever heard. It has killed.. period. If it can kill and spread in one area it has the potential to EVERYWHERE. Once inside the human body a virus can either take a attacking form or a dormant form. Dormant infected basically become carriers of the flu, and while not having symptoms themselves (yet) they can spread the disease via any means. We know that this virus is especially lethal in hot, dry/humid climates.. so the southern United States consisting of So-Cal, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas at the very least should be worried as should people in Middle Eastern desert regions unless that is over it's Mendoza line of functionality, in which case it dies. So the host nation, South America, Southern United States, and the New Zealand/ Australian area is close to being a comfortable environment for the infection to spread via contact, airborne means, and possibly even through the water. What the rest of the world needs to worry about is if this flu restructures and adapts itself to be especially successful in the rest of these reigons.. if it does, there may not be a safe place outside of Nova Scotia, Greenland, Alaska, Siberia, and Antarctica (since highly cooler temperatures are typically unbearable for most viruses.) Even though it is a simple game, you can learn a bit about how viruses can spread, become less or more obvious, and adapt to survive in more areas through a simple Flash game by the name of Pandemic, or it's sequel.. Pandemic 2. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/360724 It may be in bad taste to bring it up at a time like this but maybe it can help us.. who knows. |

According to breaking news, there are now 5 confirmed cases of Swine Flu that have popped up in Seattle, indicating that it is moving northward either by travelers, air, water, or all 3 in some form. |
