Blaire shook her head, arms crossed firmly over her chest. No matter what Auriel said, the Siberian Husky wasn't going to give an inch. She had come so far in this tournament, and with all that had happened lately, it would be ludicrious to give up now.

"Never. For I am not alone, as you say. I'm not only fightning for myself and Lance, but for everyone who has fallen in this tournament. And I plan to save them all."

"And I will, the canine thought to herself, shoulders tensing up. "No matter what, I will win this tournament and secure the lives of us all."

Blaire took a moment to clear her throat. "But that's not the only burden I carry. You see, the world I come from is controlled by Dr. Robotnik. I'm sure you've heard of some version of him. Where I come from, he's been controlling the planet for over a decade. Many Freedom Fighter groups have been formed to stop him, one of which I am a part of."

The violet-furred Mobian paused for a moment, to allow this news to sink in. She wondered whether Auriel would get the message-that she and Freedom Fighters all over Mobius had to carry the burden of millions of Mobians, not just a few dozen fighters and thier loved ones."

Auriel sat down in a chair across from her, and let her say her piece. He had no doubt that she would have a lot to say. He was, of course, effectively asking her to surrender her own life just so he could avenge it. He hadn't really meant it, but he had to be sure her resolve was as steady as his own.

The girl paused in her monologue, and at this point, the knight couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. Struggling to keep his voice as even as possible, he swallowed a scoff and replied, "Oi pray that ye retain yer objectivity 'ere, lass. Yer o'erworldly burdens have no place 'ere. Robotnik is not our immediate enemy. Robotnik dinnae kill the unfortunate participants o' this tourney, Aurora help them find the light.

"And yet, Oi do believe yer position is clearly marked," Auriel sighed. "Regrettable, for Oi think we'd have been fast friends in different times. Oi will avenge ye, too."

What is the difference between a duck?

 (Sorry for the delay, I was unexpectedly food poisoned yesterday so I was tryin to rest off the gut pains, sorry if this post is underwhelming but I'm just wantin' to get the show on the road.)

"Well, this is it! The both of you have proven to be the strongest and most ruthless of the field brought to this place. You've had to fight off your terms time and time again, condemn opponents to death, and even condemn opponents loved ones as well. You both are hungry for this last win, to get out of here.. and you've come ever so close. Your ringmaster is pleased by your efforts as you've both played your cards exceptionally. But alas, there can only be one winner. One who is stronger, one who is hungrier, one who is more ruthless, one who is just flat out more prepared.

Timotheus has been busy creating something very special for the both of you, only the second time ever will we cap off our tournament with a stage like the one you are about to see, it may not be that.. sexy.. tumbly.. gassy.. or firey pick, but it'll pose its own surprises. Search for the 'cheese' competitors, and you just may get to freedom."

Sadistic's voice resonates through the cafeteria though he is yet to be seen.

"Fight for your loved one, save yourself.. I can tell the both of you wish to save the field, but one's gotta know when he's getting out ahead. DON'T get greedy."

The voice fades away permanently without ever telling Blaire or Auriel what conditions they will actually have to fight in.

Now, it's only a matter of time.

Sadistic telepathically speaks into the heads of the final combatants as their surroundings dim and fade.

Now there is only darkness, though you are conscious, you hear the tell tale laughs, hear chatter weakly echoing into your head from fallen comrades within the void. But there is still but only darkness, surrounded by emptiness, desolate and dark.. the darkest it has been, darker than the blackouts between matches. This... This is it.. You can win, you may not want to condemn your opponent for even the briefest moment, but you feel you are the most capable to win the tournament, and you aren't going to be throwing a fight with another life bonded to yours. Indeed, this is it.. the time is now.. you may not feel it.. but this is how..

"It's all coming to an end." One more booming laugh fades into nonexistence, and you wait.. alone.. in the dark.
