"This...is getting old."

Those were the words muttered by one recently materialized Blaire Fields as she regained consciousness. Of course, she was referring to the way the judges transported the combatants from the cafeteria to the arenas and vice-versa. And frankly, she was getting pretty darned tired of blacking out all the time.

Slowly, the violet-furred candid stood up and tried-after a few seconds of swaying back and forth-to salvage any of her bearings she still had. The foremost thing she realized was that her eyesight-excessively impaired by the gas in her last match-had been miraculously restored. It was almost as if she hadn't been fighting in a stadium filled with knee-high miasma.

The second thing Blaire took noticed of, were the remaining competitors. That cyborg fox who called himself something along the lines of Prower, the only human, Taylor, in the tourney, fellow canine Adrian, armored echidna Auirel, and probably the only combatant she ended up getting a bad vibe from, Adokas.

It was at the sight of the last one that forced Blaire to roll her eyes. "Now how the heck did he get to the quarter-finals? she asked herself.

"Unbelievable. Just unbelievable," the dog whispered, shaking her head in incredulity.

Soon, her eyes wandered to the gunshot wound on her shoulder. Of course, her soul being in the displaced state that it was, she didn't feel any pain from it. However, she would expect that come the third round, things would be a little different.

And speaking of such, the Siberian Husky had grown quite curious about who her next opponent was. So, she headed over to a table, where a lone piece of parchment lay. Quickly, she snatched it up in her paws, the timbre of the paper one of a wrinkling sound.

She studied that bracket for but a second-the advantage of being in the first match of the round-and her eyes widened when she saw who it was that she was competing against.

That good-for-nothing, possum.

Adokas.

"You have got to be kidding me..."

Slowly, she pulled a chair out from under the table and proceeded to sit down, eyes still locked on the white papyrus. "Why? Why?! Why couldn't I have an opponent actually worth fighting? I've been facing off against villains with the annoying 'Oh, I'm so much better then you because I say so and someone of your stature couldn't possible defeat me even though it's people like me who always lose, but I don't care 'cuz I'm gonna beat you either way' attitude so many times, it's pathetic."

Blaire of course was referring to her long-time rival, Scarlett Cyphon, Lieutenant of the Klawzax Unit. But as she thought of the annoying vixen, the seed of an idea was planted inside the valley of her psyche. And as it began to grow, a sly smirk crossed her countenance.

The purple dog knew now how she was going to defeat Adokas-by the combination of the same strategies she used to overtake Scarlett oh so many times in the past.

Of course, some modifications were in order. Unlike Scarlett, Adokas wore a full suit of armor, eliminating the areas she could slice at with her saber. Thus, Blaire was going to have to get a little bit more strategic this round and watch how she swung that metallic blue blade of hers a tad more carefully.

But, and this was a rather big but, Blaire had the element of surprise she hardly ever had with old Scarlett. First off, Adokas had no idea she was a skilled Cryokinetic. And second, she wondered whether or not the possum even knew she was his opponent. However, even if that fact was rooted within his brain, she had another advantage over him; excellent dexterity and lightning fast reflexes. After all, it wasn’t that likely that someone wearing as much armor as Adokas would be able to move that fast to dodge a speedy attack coming after him.

Blaire, on the other hand…well, it was her reflexes that helped win her battle against Blader.

And last but not least, she had displayed the utmost calmness and acuity through this entire tournament. When it would have been easier to surrender to inner anger, the Siberian Husky had kept herself composed .

And those qualities put together, combined with kickass sword fighting skills, would put her at the top.

For now, she would have to wait until the round actually started to put her plan into motion. However, the violet-furred Mobian, on the other side of the cafeteria, would not be joining the other fighters for a celebratory feast. It wasn’t because she wasn’t old enough to legally partake in any of the alcoholic beverages. Rather, it was because she did not trust those judges to serve any food or drink that didn’t contain some sort of poison that would lessen an individual’s fighting ability.

Besides, she already had a perfectly good supply of chocolate mints with her.

Blaire was also not about to give Adokas the benefit of forming a winning stratagem against her. So it was of great fortune that she was looking at his back and not his face. As long as the possum couldn’t see her, she would be fine.

Of course, that didn’t mean she couldn’t have a little fun in messing with his mind. She’d just have to do it…silently.

Slowly, she made her way to the darkest corner of the café, so no one would spy her. Leaning against the wall, Blaire switched on her Cyrokinetic Bangle. Now, this was not to gain an advantage over Adokas by having it charged at the start of thier battle-such a plan wouldn't work anyway, considering the charge reset itself at the begining of her last battle-Rather, it was merely so Blaire could play a little joke on the possum. When the prank was done, the canine would simply switch off her bangle and that would be it.

And as she thought of her practical joke, she had hoped the judges would take their sweet time in getting the next arena ready. For if this worked as according to plan, would there be a good laugh to be had.

And the one that would be laughing-internally of course-would be Blaire.

"You wouldn't happen to be Taylor?"
He hadn't been keeping much track of the other fighters. It took him a moment to realize... "You're... Adrian, then? If you're surprised I lasted this long, I am too," Taylor replied. "Not that this is my first time being whisked into hell..." He took a quick glance around at the others who remained. The cyborg fox, the pretentious possum, the husky girl... and Adrian had all come back. "Three more," he said to himself absently.
Indeed, there is nothing more repulsive than these monsters that defy nature and are known by the name of witcher, as they are the offspring of foul sorcery and witchcraft. They are unscrupulous scoundrels without conscience and virtue, veritable creatures from hell capable only of taking lives. They have no place amongst decent and honest folk.

Tightly, a gloved paw seized a navy blue hilt and that arm of Blaire's traveled in a small arch as the husky pulled out her Sapphire Blade. She rested the razor-sharp endpoint of the sword on her palm and began to inspect it.

As expected, the usually blue steel of the saber was stained crimson with the blood of her prior opponent. How Blader managed to last as long as he did, the dog knew not.

Of course, she was begining to wish she had that kind of stamina.

The cyborg then left Adokas with the bottles and patted him on the back again. "Take care," he said, masking the fury building up within his emotional reactor. And pray that I get wiped out before I have to face you. You will not survive he thought. I have no qualms with killing you out of all of them. You killed a Prower. A little brother of mine from a reality removed.

He then noticed Blaire and walked over to her area, and then leaned against the wall. "I believe you're up against a common enemy of mine next," he said quietly. "Would you be against me passing along some information?"

I believe you're up against a common enemy of mine next.

Upon hearing that, Blaire slowly raised her head and found herself locking eyes with the cyborg fox. "Hmm, I thought I found a dark enough corner to keep out of sight from. Oh well, better him than Ado-what's-his-name." the husky thought, shrugging her shoulders a little.

Would you be against me passing along some information?

It was that query that caused a smug grin to stretch across the Mobian's lavender muzzle. "Why of course not," she whispered. "Anything you can tell me about that jerk will be greatly appreciated."

"I've done a complete scan of 'Lord' Adokas and found that his rocket pack has a limited fuel supply. The armor suit also seems to be weak against explosive damage. I've run simulations, call it '1,001 Ways to kill Adokas' if you wish. I might also suggest disarming him, but his weapon is attached via a chain." Miles said, crossing his arms. "Rather you win than him."

Blaire considered the information Miles had relayed to her. "Hmm, a limited fuel supply, I could use that to my advantage. I don't have any explosives with me. Disarming him, you say? That could work. Would it be possible for my saber to cut through the chain his weapon is attached too?" she asked quietly.

"Unknown, I have not been able to analyze your weapon," he replied, looking down at it. As soon as he looked at it, he noticed that its energy source was charging.

Blaire noticed the fox look down at, not her saber, but the bangle around her wrist. "Excuse me, but why are you anayzling my, eh, braclet?" the dog asked, hoping she could steer Miles' eyes over to her sword. She didn't mind if he checked that out-everyone probably knew about it.

What she was more worried about, was him finding out she was capable of using ice-based powers and telling someone about it. She trusted him, but those judges...

"It has properties of a weapon. I apologize, I usually study something that has an active power source first." the cyborg said. He looked at the saber and then unceremoniously pulled it out of its scabbard. The fox held it up and then pressed the blade into the palm of his other hand. He then put the weapon back where he got it. "It's probable that you may be able to use this weapon effectively. Perhaps you could puncture his fuel tank and somehow cause an internal explosion. Any kind of flame or spark could do. An opposing but equally effective maneuver would be to somehow freeze the fuel in order to both deny him flight by lack of fuel but also by weight. Under differing circumstances, I would've just simply given you a Fat-Man Tactical Nuclear Catapult to wipe that smugness off his face."

"Nah, it's alright, I understand. It's just that there are some things I'd rather not the other competitors knew about me," Blaire explained to him.

Without saying so much as a 'wait', the husky watched as the fox grabbed her saber and pressed it against his palm. At first, the canine wondered whether or not the cyborg vulpine would begin scanning her Sapphire Blade. Instead, he merely placed it back where he had initially got it. Such an action puzzled her, but she decided it would be best not to ask about it.

She then listened as Miles explained to her two very effective ways off gaining an advantage over Adokas. “Hmm, puncture his fuel tank and cause an explosion? That could work. Hopefully the next arena will have something I could use to create a spark or a flame-just as long as the whole stadium isn’t covered in fire, that is,” the canine thought, cringing at her last mental statement.

She then carefully considered Miles’ second suggestion, her eyes closed in deep thought. “Hmm, that would work well. And, it would be something I’d be much more capable of doing. Just one Cryo Zephyr, heck, even simply lasting the fight long enough so that my bangle activates and drops the temperature to thirty-two degrees or less, should be able to freeze that fuel line of his.

Christmas is back again

For little reason the wolf didn't concentrate much what's been said. All he did was hum in return. With further interest to have a snack before another clash, one versus one was destined to arrive sooner or later.
"So!" He uttered out, while he kept looking around, as there were so much fuzz involved. "Care to have snack?" As he asked, with a hint that this could be the very well last meal for one of them.

"Well, thank you for the advice," Blaire stated with a nod of gratitude, walking away from the cybog fox.

"Hmm...I trust that fox, but in a tournament where you get killed if you loose, I'd better not get too cocky about all this. After all, what if he's wrong, and Adokas ends up defeating me? Of course, the chances of that happening are like eighty-seven billion to one, and pretty much only if I make some sort of fatal mistake..." the Siberian Husky thought, her paw wrapped around the hilt of her Sapphire Blade.

"I could eat," Taylor said. Adrian seemed to be a decent fellow, Taylor hated the prospect of killing him in the next match. However, he also still thought himself a decent fellow, and he didn't much like the prospect of dying, either. Still, probable death or not, he still felt he ought to eat. "No offense to any bovine friends of yours, but I could really use a great, big, greasy cheeseburger right about now. Could do worse than that."

Miles' ears perked up slightly as he heard the word 'cheeseburger'. Then he noticed the human for the first time and left Blaire to her devices, approaching Taylor. When he was within earshot he said: "You wouldn't find anything greasy like in a McDonald's, but I did spot some steakhouse-style ones. I haven't eaten a cheeseburger in awhile."

So that was one thing everyone within earshot now knew, the fox came from a contemporary timeline.
