Third, and most obvious, guides are useful! Which is easier, to teach oneself to play the piano, or to have a collection of textbooks tell you how to play the piano? A guide-sub-forum would create a place where newb spriters/artists/writers/roleaplayers can see what exactly goes into their field, and how to do it well.
