Posts: 4,368 Group: =SB= Queens Member #6,722 Joined: March 16, 2008 Gender: Female Favorite System: N64 Favorite Sonic Game: Sonic Unleashed Current Mood: Chillin'	The many browser freezes I've suffered along with a sudden bout of crankiness has made it very apparent to me that many people's signatures and avatars are just much too large in consideration of the rules. I'm completely tired of dawdling around the issue, so therefore I'm going to do something about it. You have until tomorrow to back up the material in your sigs and avys. If your sig or avy breaks any rule by the time I start going through the member list to purge, it's going to be deleted on the spot whether or not you backed it up, are on staff, or whatever other excuse you might be able to concoct. If you don't know whether or not your sig or avy conforms to the standard, simply right click on an image and hit 'Properties' to see if it's acceptable. For further elaboration, here are the rules about the matter along with extra restrictions that were decided on not too long ago (within parentheses): 6.16 Signatures/Avatars Please do not use the spoiler tag to hide large images or more than 5 images in your signature (this includes text, videos, and any other material that would otherwise make your signature too large or illegal). Sigs that contain hate messages and/or insulting material towards a member is an instant warn. Signature image size must not exceed 250kb. Avatars should be no more than 100KB. We want pages to load at a reasonable pace for users. Do not have text in your signature using more than 3 BIG tags. Signatures and avatars should not contain quickly-flashing pictures that may cause problems for users with photo-sensitive disorders. Signatures that stretch tables will be removed. (An individual image in your sig must not exceed either one or both of the maximum dimensions.) Overall sig image height should not be anymore than 375 pixels. This means if you have more than one image, the total height of all of those images should not exceed 375 pixels total. Flash music players are not allowed in your sig. Flash Videos are not allowed in your sig. So that's it. Save your stuff because once they're gone, they're gone and you won't be able to have them back. Also, any infractions of this rule afterwards will result in an immediate deletion and possibly a warn depending on how much you continue to ignore this. Again, you've got a day, so get to it. NOTE: Please state here whether or not your screen resolution is higher than 1024 x 768 pixels as this may cause me to delete something that, to you, was under the limit. xP Edited by BlizShadow, Apr 19 2009, 04:19 PM.

Some signatures are much bigger than most of the person's actual posts. It's ridiculous. If the people you are speaking for have a problem with this warning, then they can talk to Metallix about a complete rule overhaul.

I checked twice, and I'm still not sure. EDIT: For some reason, whem I go to edit my signature, it has no empty space, but when I post, it adds like, 2 inches extra of empty space. That wasn't really the question you asked, but I'll still be glad to provide the answer: People's sigs have just gotten so ridiculous to the point where I couldn't take it anymore. Despite the few signatures I have deleted, those same people have disregarded my actions and the staff in general have been lenient. And since I have the power to rectify the problem, that's just what I'm going to do. @ Marcus: Your sig easily breaks the height limit and we also have an unwritten thing about too many userbars (5 being the maximum), so unless you take out some of the userbars and rearrange the wording to make sure your sig is under 375 pixels, then sorry to say it's going to be deleted. The easiest way to check your signature height is to hit 'Ctrl + Print Screen', open up Paint, and hit 'Ctrl + V' to paste the screenshot. Afterwards, simply crop your signature so that it takes up the entire canvas, go to 'Image > Attributes' and check the height. Edited by BlizShadow, Apr 19 2009, 02:51 PM.

That's probably because the signature automatically drops images and words on separate levels if you have many of them lined up in a row. It's a fail-safe against page stretching.

May still save a lot of trouble. Just create a spoiler inside the other spoiler. Those who actually want to see members profiles may just follow the button and see what they have in stock. Sometimes I do look into them, but usually their a pain in the ass as well. That's just my idea of what people can do before the wrath of BlizShadow will be unleashed tomorrow. I believe when she says something, she will keep that word as well.

And trust me, I will be looking into spoilers tags as well. Although you have a point: spoiler tags can make for a clunky-looking sig hence why I changed mine. But nevertheless-- Marcus, your sig actually isn't less than 365 pixels. Right now, it's still around 416 gave or take a few pixels-- Again, I think your problem is in the way you have formatted all of the text and userbars in your sig. What I would suggest is take everything out and start from scratch. Or perhaps let me play around with it. EDIT: Again, your problem is you're relying on the preview when its dimensions are not the same as the actual thing, thus there's some skewing going on. It's best for everyone not to shoot for hitting the maximum limit in the preview because you will undoubtedly be over it. You're simply going to have to take out a lot more stuff or reformat your text so that you're significantly under the limit. Edited by BlizShadow, Apr 19 2009, 03:38 PM.

EDIT: Wait! My userbars are set next to eachother, but on your pc, they arent. I think my resolution is at a higher setting than yours which is why my bars are next to eachother, making my sig height 332 pixles while yours says 416.
