I been wanting to be funny but I suck at the moment  could anyone give me some tips on to be funny with jokes about anything? Please help I want to be a comedian someday

Um, I don't know if you can learn to be funny. I think you either have the talent or you do not. Idk. I can't come up with any funny jokes, I just think of the right things to say at the moment. lol |

Here's the best tip: Don't try too hard. The harder you try, the worse your jokes will come out. Just relax and let it come naturally. I may normally be a calm guy, but once the jokes start coming they don't stop until I have to! |

Practice. Think about it. Don't expect it to come naturally, but actually put real, consistent effort into being witty. You'll suck at first, but it is something you can learn to a degree. Metallix is right though. To be a comedian, you need innate talent. |

Yes, innate talent is the key part of humour, but the first step to being funny is actually understanding humour. That is to say, what qualifies as 'funny' and what doesn't. And yes, while everyone has different tastes in humour, there are a few constants; for instance, you never explain the punchline of a joke until someone says 'I don't get it'. You have to be subtle about it, in a manner of speaking. EXAMPLE 1: Knock knock. "Who's there?" Ach. "Ach-who?" Gesundheit. This is the correct way to tell a joke, even if it isn't that funny. I sure as hell don't find it funny because I hate knock knock jokes. *drops the example down a bottomless pit* EXAMPLE 2: Knock knock. "Who's there?" Ach. "Ach who?" Bless you, because it sounded like you were sneezing. This is the incorrect way to tell a joke, because it sounds stupid and the audience will feel as if you're being demeaning. *drops this example down the pit too* Different kinds of humour require different levels of subtlety, but they all need it in some capacity. And those examples were just linear style jokes (you have a statement followed by a punchline, ho hum); most mature-aged people prefer non-linear humour. EXAMPLE 3: (and yes, I'm quoting myself because I'm awesome) Shadow's ring bracers aren't just some peculiar and incredibly dubious fashion statement; they are in fact devices (whether they be magical, mystical or technological in nature) used to contain his godmodded powers to a more bareable level that remains safely under nine thousand. They are also used to hide his emorific wrists. This is an example of subtle, non-linear humour, although if you wanted to get really specific I suppose you coul;d say that 'Shadow's ring bracers aren't just some peculiar and incredibly dubious fashion statement' is the statement and the rest is the punchline, but the first sentence is funny in its own right to some extent, so it really doesn't count. You could just think of what you would find funny or what you're pretty sure the other would find as humorous (considering you might know the person; for example, you might be talking to a friend) and try to phrase it out. Like TUC said, don't explain it until someone says, "I don't get it." Other than that, not a single clue, sweetie. |

Like it has been said before, it's not something you learn, per se. Most of the funny things that have ever been said, usually have something to set them up. If you want to be unusually funny, don't just try at any random moment. Nobody ever laughs at a desperate comedian. This could lead to a brick 2 da face. You have to wait for a moment to line itself up, and then seize that moment. AAlmost everything I say at my house that make people laugh is me poking fun at other things that are worth poking fun at, like crappy commercials and Twilight. Either that, or sarcasm. Nevertheless, only when the moment calls for it. I rarely ever say something funny 10 minutes after the moment has passed. Like TUC said, and as Miracle restated, never explain yourself until someone says "I don't get it." (Huh, double reiteration.) Now, if you want to be Charlie Chaplin funny, I don't know how to help you there. I myself have no idea how to make physical comedy work, nor perform it. If that's the case, I've got nothing. |

Being funny is learned I guess. To be funny, you gotta think on your toes, and try to find something funny in a lot of situations. Outside of this forum, I'm like that. Once you learn how to do it without even thinking about it, you're thinking like a comedian. Another way to get funny, is surrounding yourself with funny people. You'll learn to laugh at new things and you'll remember some jokes that might help you around other people, and make them laugh. Humor rubs off on people sometimes. |

Well, currently, many people like jokes insulting the stars like Miley Cyrus, or some other *cough* slut *cough*, but you also, when trying to be funny, need to at least LOOK like you are not trying to be funny. Also, your attitude affects your audience, so act like you are funny and hope you are. Actually, don't take that last bit of advice until people think that you are funny. Having good material or material you know a lot about helps a lot. Become very knowledgeable about a subject and it's much easier to crack jokes about it. For example, I could make all sorts of humorous observations about the Resident Evil series because I've followed it devoutly for almost ten years now. |

Well, there are things that you find funny, aren't there? I've always been shy, but even though I don't talk much in public I still often make people laugh when I do, because I'm a MASH nut and have Hawkeye's sense of humor down to the T. Comedians do this all the time: they steal jokes, they emulate other comics' styles. So just think of what your sort of style is, what you find funny, and sort of mold your way of speaking into that. |

Well.. This is how I see it.. 1. Be yourself.. Your jokes will come from your personallity. if you're Loud and always hyper, you have a better chance of doing Stand-Up Comedy like the Kings of comedy (Steve Harvey ftw =3, too bad he died =[ ) 2. Observe everything around you.. If you see someone fall, a squirlle smack into the window, or some dude slip on ice, Then all that you need to do is convert that into something that makes you laugh.. As cheap as this may sound, let me put it as a example Doug : Hey Chuck! Chuck : Sup, Doug! Doug : Hey man, I heard from some dude this guy got pulled over by the police! Chuck : What for? Doug : They told him to step out of the car, and guess what, there was nothing but beer bottles pouring out! Chuck : And? Doug : And?? Dude fell right out, sliding on the cans like a slide! Didn't think it was possible!! Chuck : I guess you can call him a loose "can"non, eh? Doug : I guess you can *chuckles a bit* 3. Refrences So if you really can't be funny.. You can always find examples and refrences. So lets say you google some jokes. Practice them, use them at school, eventually those jokes will twist around, and you will be creating jokes of your own to share! 4. Sugar.. Sugar Rush can be bad for many, but to be hyper and goofied up, you need Sugar.. Sugar will help you make some jokes, or say something goofy. 5. jokes arent the only funny thing around. While people always tend to use Jokes. There are alternatives so as : Word play afterwise known as Puns Acting also known as part of Stand-Up comedy & Performance, which is what Clowns do in a circus 6. Insults & Bullying While being the more hated and most vile thing to hear from people, Bullies and jerks use this to humilate someone for their own amusement, which in return makes other people around laugh.. Wedgies, Wet willies, garbage dumping, make-up on a guy, stealing a guy's or girl's clothes while changing is all funny yet humiliating ways of funny. 7. Yo Momma. Even I started with this, and in return, I became the master of Jokes and Comebacks. Yo Momma cant go wrong, Although some may sound lame, you will find some that will make everyone laugh.. hmmm... if you want to at least get a good chuckle, try this. 1) if you're ever telling a story that would normaly be a little dull, embellish. now i don't mean over exagerate, i mean add emphesis to words that, with the emphasis, will seem funnier than they are. if i'm still confusing you, (because i don't know how exactly to type it), listen to some Dane Cook on youtube. 2)take pointing out the obvious to the next level. for example: a squiirrel runs into a window repeatedly insteadof saying: "stupid squirrel's gonna have a head ache later" say something like: "someone call 911, cuz that squirrel's got a labotomy comin' up" i did this once, and a few people in the group i was with got a good laugh out of it |

I'm always funny. I don't often make jokes, just little puns and random moments. Like when i saw mudkip on my freinds pokemon, I said "MUKKIP IS FIRIN HIS WATER LAZOR BLAAAAAARG" and stuff like that. Another thing i do is post funny videos on forums. That cracks everything up. |

Some people are not naturally hilariously funny. I'm not, but I don't TRY to be funny, sometimes I can make people split their sides just by being myself. You are not trying to be funny deliberately, that is what makes you un-funny you need to just relax and be yourself and eventually you'll be able to make funny quips etc like it's no problem at all. |
