Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is actually a good game.
My expectations weren't high for this one. I mean, another remake? Sure, it was never released out of Japan, but...
didn't they already make a re-edition of the first Fire Emblem?

(Brawl fanboys, rejoice. That guy with the blue hair was actually Fire Emblem 1's main character)

But hey, it managed to surprise me. Even though the camera is a COMPLETE fudgeING **Bleep**, the rest of the additions are cool. The "Danger" button is extremely useful, and graphics aren't bad at all, even though I prefered Sacred Stones' pixelated art.

Anyone else played this game?

Ooooh, I was thinking about buying this game. It seems like a natural for the DS's stylus. Does that work great?

Also, camera? How is that a problem? Could you explain more? I mean, it's still a turn-based strategic RPG like before, right? You wouldn't think a camera would be much of an issue in a game like that.

It does. Apart from some mis-selecting and the camera.

Alright, the camera.
Imagine you've got a chivalry unit, who can go to the other side of the map in a few turns. You can select him, and if you want to move him a lot you have to move the camera. At that point you have two choices.
You hold the D-Pad in the direction you wanna go. Extremely slow.
You slide the stylus to the edge of the screen, and 80% of the time instead of moving the camera it directly moves your unit to the part where you touched.
So yeah. But, apart from that, it's a good game.

Ephy..playing a Nintendo game ? Is that even remotely possible ? Is the sky falling upon our heads ? Is Julius Caesar coming back to life ? No..but Ephy is really playing a Nintendo game.

Nice review Ephy.

I like the story line of the series.

But, like most games, has it failed as its gone along?

Not really. Sacred Stones was utter, complete win.

Agreed. Sacred Stone fixed a ton of problems that the first Fire Emblem game had.

The best thing, by far, was having breaks between chapters. You could shop at stores in areas you'd been to before, and you could have your army gain expereince by fighting in monster-filled ruins.

In the first Fire Emblem game there was only so much experience to go around since there were no breaks between chapters and only a finite amount of enemies to kill. True, you could train at the arena in certain chapters, but that was a lot more risky than SS's ruins. You never knew what your unit would face when you sent them in...and it could be a really bad match. Then before you can forfeit the match they get killed and you lose that unit forever.

And if you wanted to buy something special from a store in a chapter, you couldn't do it once that chapter was over. I think the battle preparation store before a chapter began only carried basic stuff like iron weapons...and even those were sold at inflated prices.
