I'd have two complaints to give out.

First of all, can you decide what words does the cuss filter work on? Because some censored words are just ridicolous.

Second, why must we have this complex "THIS IS A SONIC FORUM NO MATURE TOPICS BECAUSE THE MEMBERS CAN'T ARGUE CORRECTLY ON IT"? Not everyone here is a 10 years old. I think we could manage a mature topic without too many people saying "Is dad the bee and mum the flower?".

And how is that so? Ridiculous? The only ones that are filtered are the f-bomb and a few that can only be used as derogatory towards others. I don't know which one you are talking about.

Not everyone is 10, but lots are. Why would you even want to discuss a topic here that can be evolve into "Is dad the bee and mum the flower?"...? We can discuss mature topics here, we have done so before like Bliz said, but if you want to discuss anything sexual it is out of the question.

Eppy, mas(Unowut) can be taken into offense by some small but harmful reasons:
1. Religion, like in Christianity (Unowut) is a sin much like homosexuality.

2. Most parents unrelegously just feel that their children(Even like 18 year olds) should only know straight sex.

For example there was a joke which was put in spoilers which basically said

"If I did it I wouldn't be able to (insert auto-pleasure act here, seeing how the cuss filter is still active) for a week"

How can that word be used as an offense?

I'd like to discuss mature topics because some of the arguments are interesting to debate on. Debating if drugs should be legalized or not is certainly more interesting than "Is diet soda better than normal soda?".
I say - Take the mature forum idea. So the 10 years old kids can stay and debate over the things you see from a window while grown-ups can actually talk about something interesting.
What is this? Some "shame" feeling of talking about sex? Some have intelligent debates to give over it (Example: Talking about what the pope said about condoms in Africa). Leave it be. In the end a NSFW tag can do the job.

I haven't been to one forum yet, be it about Sonic, Crash Bandicoot, Ratchet and Clank, or games in general that allowed this. Non-official anyway.

Point being, mature discussion is allowed here. If you want to have it, then make topics instead of crying about the lack of them.

The filter is an entirely different story. I'm not against having one, but if you're going to have one it would help to make it sensible. When nearly every replacement word is "**Bleep**" instead of a logical minced oath like "frick", then I understand the issue of clarity and laziness. And no, all of the words that are censored cannot be used as insults. Seriously, I doubt anyone is going to call someone a "pron" anytime soon or even use it in an insulting way. Not only that, but there are words like "shit" or "puta" that aren't censored which can be used insultingly.

This makes no sense.

I'll continue to advocate that we streamline this thing as long as it remains as such. Hell, I'll even volunteer to rewrite it myself if it means cleaning it up sooner.
