Deleted User	Actually, I think the lyrics go that way because 'echidna' would sound a bit weird in a song. But the reason they called him 'porcupine' is because unless I'm mistaken, echidna's and porcupines are closely related. If they aren't, I dunno why they say 'porcupine' in the song...But he's definitely an echidna.

Porcupines are larger and have longer quills that, in some cases, are poisoness. Also, porcupines have long noses.

They're entirely different species. Porcupines are rodents while hedgehogs are erinaceomorphs. And no, Storyteller. Porcupines are not poisonous.
