 Just as an end-note, whatever you get him (in this case the sketchbook), he probably won't remember it a year from now, depending on his personality. The thing that makes an impression, with this kind of relationship anyway, is the way you give it. Make a gift of your attitude, your behavior, and so forth, and he'll notice.
