He remembered the letter and the address clearly; it was definitely the right place. He adjusted his glasses as he stared up at the structure, then turned his attention to the hoverchair-bound hedgehog in front of the door. "Doctor Iven Jacobs?" he inquired. Though really, who else could it be? he asked himself internally, He's finely-dressed, he's seated out the front in a settled position, suggesting he's not going in or out anytime soon, and his posture indicates that he's waiting... clearly for the guests... The mental analysis took mere moments, a habitual quirk that had become almost reflexive. Nevertheless, he quickly stifled the thoughts; there was something about the doctor's eyes that set his parapsychologist's sense on edge for some bizarre and inexplicable reason...

Telepath! he thought in surprise, the words for a mind-blocking incantation beginning to run through his head. Hurriedly, he stopped himself; the doctor could read his thoughts, but his psychic touch didn't carry any malevolence. Besides, trying to use a spell would invariably call up the spell words from his memory, and he couldn't afford to compromise his magical knowledge. He forced himself to relax, but kept his guard up nonetheless. He watched another apparent guest (whom he had only just noticed) enter the building, one hand over his mouth. "Well, I don't know about 'reputation'," he replied, turning his gaze back to the host, "But I'm more than skilled enough to recognise ESP when I see it." He frowned a bit and added, "Whilst I understand that telepathy can be hard to control, I must ask you not to dig too deeply in the interest of mutual safety."

I simply am not acustomed to the ways of your demension. In the cities that I was raised in people had nothing to hide, so no one blocked their mind." He smiled. "But still, I apologise for intruding in your mind. But I'll have you know, I have no intention on stealing your magical knowledge. But I will tell you this: I am very powerful. The only people who can prevent their minds from being read by me are my family." With a chuckle, he ended by saying, "You are correct in stopping yourself from conjuring a mind blocking spell, though with my experience with magicians and the like, it would probably prove useless. But still, your quick thinking will save your life in the harsh days forseen in your future."
