So the Game Developers Conference is over and the next big thing is E3 where MUCH MUCH more game info will be released, GDC is mainly tech and stuff. Don't worry folks, E3 is going back to the way it was before they changed it and made it smaller. It will retain all of its glory again!

Dates have been set. Lines have been drawn. The war rages on.

Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have all scheduled media briefing dates and times for E3 2009. As usual, Microsoft jumps in first, kicking the affair off on June 1 (the day before E3) at 10:30AM PDT. On June 2, Nintendo waggles to stage at 9:00AM PDT, followed by Sony at 11:00AM PDT. With E3 reverting to the days of yore, we expect blinding lasers and fist-pumping anthems along with all the megaton announcements.

Think of an excuse now, because between June 1 and June 4 you're not going to want to be at work, school or with significant others. You're going to be at your computer, frantically hitting refresh for all of our in-depth coverage. You know, like you are right now.

Nintendo plans to reveal something hardcore this year at E3(Unless they're complete idiots, I kind of doubt they'll reveal something casual again). Can't wait, being a Nintendo fanboy I am.

I can't wait for this year's E3.

Eh... I don't know about that. Nintendo didn't reveal anything special last year as far as hardcore games go. I do think they will probably have some hardcore games, because two years in a row with nothing would not look good for them. Plus they need something to boost their sells in Japan where the Wii is currently lagging.

E3 should bring in some good news, I wish I could make it out there to see the conference in person again but there's always next year. And I still have the PAX to keep me company. ^^

Here are some things I expect to see at E3:
Tons of new info on MAG.
Tons of new info on Uncharted 2.
Tons of new info on Heavy Rain.
Tons of new info on God of War 3, plus release date(confirmed to be at E3).
Tons of new EyePet info.
More info on Quantum Theory
More info on DC Universe Online
A few more unannounced games from Sony for PS3(confirmed).

Things I hope to see at E3:
Twisted Metal PS3. 'Nuff said
New WipEout(we were told to keep an eye out for new info on the WipEout franchise).
New info on games announced in 2005 with no info since like EyeDentify(which has been confirmed to still be in production).
New info on games announced in 2006 with no info since like: Wardevil, Ni-Oh, etc...
Metal Gear Solid 5 info.
Kingdom Hearts 3 info.

I also expect Microsoft to have something big. They have pretty much nothing announced for 2009 except a Halo expansion. I know they have some stuff up their sleeves.

As for Nintendo. I'm hoping this year they will move away from the Wii Fit type of games and announce a new Zelda for Wii and a new Star Fox. Or even a whole new IP would be awesome.

I hope Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo announce that they will stop releasing EVERY DAMN AWESOME GAME IN NOVEMBER.

- I can't wait that long.
- I don't have enough money all at once to buy them all.
- Being overcrowded in a small and smelly shop is not fun.
- Sold out games before it's even released. D: <

(Yeah, I realise they do it for the Christmas buzz, and shit. But it's still annoying. D:)

Edit: Games.

- Fallout 3 DLC's, more, mooooreee. >: D
- No more fake fitness games Nintendo. D: <
- New Advance Wars? : D
- All games forever multi-platform? : D (I remain hopeful that eventually people will only have to buy one game console instead of all three just to play a few games (Cause really, how many people wanted to play GoW2 but couldn't because they got the PS3, same goes with MGS4 and the 360, meh, it'll never happen. D:))

Dude a one console market would suck. Competition is what pushes companies to make better products. Plus if you had only one console to choose from and it failed, you'd have no consoles to choose from. Look at Atari. It was the only one out there and when it failed, the whole industry practically failed because there was no competition for gamers to go to.

Not a good idea. It would get crushed. There's already enough competition as is, why add more?

I'd like to see some more info on MAG and KH3 as well, I'm waiting for these. MAG is uber-sweetness. Also, some info on Prototype and Spirit Tracks as well, though I doubt they'd be heavily discussed.

Read my post, I never said one console.

I said all games multi-platform. Apart from just the games, alll the consoles have seperate identities, Microsoft have better DLC and internet play. The Wii has better Motion controls and is for a general audiance. The PS3 has a better bit rate, slightly better graphics than the 360, and nice 'joystick' like axis controls (As I am told).

If all games were multi-console, (Except those which require specific hardware; Wii Sports; Wii play; Guitar Hero DS; etc) specific changes would be made ofcourse but not enough to affect the game too much. When we see anticipated games like Spiderman 3 (This is just a small example of something I noticed in the past) on the Wii the game is shortened sadly, but on the 360 and PS3 it's a full game, Wii owners get pissed off, so things like this would need to be avoided. But as I said before, wouldn't you like to play Gears2 and Halo on PS3? Hell, I'd like to play on Resistance on the 360. To be honest I wish there was just one console, it'd be great, fudge competition, it just creates ignorance and stupidity anyway. Especially hostilities between fanboys/girls. And comparing Atari and the dip in gaming with the recent boom in technology and gaming culture is really silly, a single console could easily develop on itself nowadays, but I agree, the production of ever-better consoles would be slower, by a few years, oh wait, that'd benefit gamers, no more shelling out on consoles to have to buy the next one in a couple of years. But still this will never happen anyway.

I hope your dislike on only one of my future expectations, says that you agree the rest should take place? :D (Especially DLC for PS3 players of Fallout 3, I feel sorry for you guys. D:)

There isn't much more to be offered. The three consoles pretty much create a general table of needs. The computer still remains a better gaming platform over them, you just need to fork a ton of cash out on a decent brand of 'cards. I actually heard about a console which is coming out which makes you connect to the internet to play games, pretty bad idea in my opinion, server crashes would piss people off.

I wouldn't call the PS3's graphics "significantly" better than the 360, but they are better.. Significantly is a better word when used to compare how much better the PS3 is to the Wii, graphics capability wise.

The PS3's strength is in it's virtual world, Home, which is gaining steam. And it can finally say it is getting truly solid gaming lineups consistently.

1) No it's not silly because without competition things stagnate. When things stagnate, the market will slow down significantly. It's competition between game companies that push games to be better. If Sony wasn't competing against others, they wouldn't have spent a HUGE amount of money on Killzone 2. Sony is the reason Guerilla is so big and talented. If Microsoft wasn't competing, they wouldn't have spent money to fund Bungie on making Halo. Microsoft is the reason Bungie is so big and talented.

2) No, it doesn't mean that, because don't really care about that DLC. The Fallout 3 DLC isn't very appealing to me(I've also read it was broken). I didn't even care much for the game and even if I did, I still have access to the full game which is plenty enough. Games > DLC. I'd rather have companies spending money on more and better games. DLC is a nice bonus to games and that is all, it does not equal a game. Besides the games with the most DLC, I have access to. It's not like we get gimped from DLC.

3) If all games were multiplatform, there would be no need for 3 consoles or even two consoles. Having better graphics, different ways to control a game, etc doesn't justify any system if the games are exactly the same. Oh and I'd argue 360 having better online. PSN has all of the same features minus voice chat. Get back to me when Live gets dedicated servers with 60 players in one game. ;)

Seeing how the Wii era has ended, and the 360 ruled 08, I have hopes that the PS3 will rule 09.

Well, Nintendo has already said that a new Zelda game is in the works for the Wii, As for Star Fox, That would be a no-brainer but I doubt they will announce it at E3.

What would I like to see at E3?

New Pokemon game =]

Ya know I sent you a pm about an online pokemon game. :\ Also, Pokemon Pearl and Diamond are still young. Just like what Reggie said about the recent mario games being a year old.

The Wii era has ended? Setting my personal distaste against the Wii aside, the Wii era hasn't ended except for in Japan. In Europe/America it is still setting the charts on fire. Which is freaking weird, this is like the first console where games don't even matter but whatever.

360 ruled '08? I think that it held its own with great games, but PS3 had just as good of a lineup of games in '08.

Meh... Too many pokemon games, too much milking of a franchise. I'd rather see new games that aren't the 26th sequel. ;) Don't get me wrong, I think Pokemon is a good franchise, I just like to see new games over sequels.

Oh and I just read an article entitled companies to watch out for in E3 '09. Seems pretty good to me.

I think PS3's real strength is its Blu Ray format. High Definition games take up more space than games from last gen. There have been a few developers complaining about having to fit things onto a DVD so far. RAGE is going to be two discs for 360 and missing content so it doesn't need a third disc(Microsoft wants big royalties for using multiple discs) but on Blu Ray they can include everything and also have it on one disc. This will become a bigger strength as time goes on with games getting bigger and bigger. On PS2 games went from under 700mb to over 4 gigs.
