Think you know all the answers? Okay. Describe to me what a neuron looks like and how it operates. |

A neuron is the part of your brain that makes you smart. Neurons vary in size, obviously, and the larger it is, the smarter you are. Because a human head can only hold so many neurons at once, smarter people have bigger heads. Jimmy Neutron, for reference, has neurons the size of watermelons. It operates on electricity of course. A pair AA batteries will last a lifetime. Cramming for certain university exams will cut down the lifespan of neurons by half. Neurons are also used in certain types of frozen yogurt due to their "fluid factor". They are shaped like raspberries and are delicacies in some parts of the world. If that does not answer your question, you can follow up with a more specific one. Edited by Ringtails, Mar 20 2009, 12:56 AM.

WRONG. They are also not nessecarily brain cells; 'neuron' is just another word for 'nerve cell'. And FYI, they do NOT vary in size. What makes you smart is not the size of your brain cells; it's the amount of neurons your brain holds as well as the amount of connections each cell makes to other cells. They do NOT work of electricity alone; they function by electrical stimulus, yes, but they also release chemicals called 'neurotransmitters'. The chain is started by external stimulus (touch, sight, hearing, etc); this sends an electrical signal through the nerve. At the end of it's axon, it releases the neurotransmitters into the synapses between neurons. The neurons that catch the chemicals react by creating another electrical impulse. The process repeats. You think you know a lot pal, but let me tell you; four posts in and you're making a terrible first impression. *slams longsword on the desk, cleaving it in two by accident* I ALREADY DON'T LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE. FARE THEE WELL. |

Let's see how well you fare with this one. If ONE * THREE * FIVE = 225 --- then NINE * SEVEN + TWELVE = X --- 225 + X = Y --- 10,18,32,56,93,146,? ---? + Y = Z --- Solve for Z |

Right... and when's the last time you've seen a neuron, buddy? Dude, my pops is a neuronologist. He works with these things every day at work. I've seen his neuron transmitters and phosmotologic arrays of charged nerve statis cells. He showed me a tape of neruon scientists inserting neurons into a monkey to make it smarter. As for whether or not they vary in size, that's just a matter of opinion. It's not fact, so saying that I'm wrong on that account is unfair. Ok, so maybe the amount matters too. But if you had one HUGE neuron, that'd be so much better than having a tangled mess of 5 bajillion small neurons. That has been proven, m'kay? Next question, if you may. |

I watched a whole goddamn documentary on neurons alone in Psychology today; I think I would know how neurons work a bit better than you, palsy. BTW, it's 'neuropsychologist', not 'neuronpsychologist'. Edited by Tora Unlimited Crusader, Mar 20 2009, 01:12 AM.

Next question, what gave you the idea neuronologist is a real world, what made you confuse it for the real term neuroscientist, and why must you make my Australian friend and comrade's head explode? |

Easy as cheesecake buddy. ONE star THREE star FIVE is the same as ONETHREEFIVE starstar by the associative property of arithmetic. Elementary. 255 is just a constant. NINE star SEVEN cross TWELVE is NINESEVENTWELVE starcross by the same theory. But here, X is not a constant number. X is what we will call a variable. So, 255, a constant, cross a variable equals Y. Y in this case is a letter. So thus far, we have ONETHREEFIVENINESEVENTWELVE starstarstarcross = Y = 255 cross a variable Next line analysis. 1018325693146 are just arbitrary integers, so we can throw them out without altering the above lines. A question mark is what we want to fine in order to solve for Z. So, we plug a question mark into the above lines. And we get: 1359712***+ = Y = 255+? ? + Y = Z This is a simple system of two equations. ? + 255+ = 1359712***+ Cancel out the cross and the stars cubed. 255 + ? = 1359712 ? = 1359457 Y is still a letter. A letter plus a number is neither a letter nor a number. Therefore, Z = undefined. |

Actually, Z equals 4561, but I wasn't actually expecting you to know that. Now, go ahead and answer some more questions. |
