Here it is, my first narrative. Let me know if this is even worth expounding on.

Rise of the Tails Doll

Chapter 1

From his dark prison, the Tails Doll observed the doings of Sonic the Hedgehog and his friends. It was all he could do, bound as he was to the point where he couldn’t even flex his little finger. Not that he had a little finger. All he could do was watch the visions he sometimes had about the outside. Oh, how he longed for freedom, to feel the air in his face and the sun on his skin… cloth, actually. But he yearned nevertheless.
It all started quite some time ago. Dr. Eggman had created the Tails Doll for the sole purpose of defeating Sonic in a race. Perhaps it was just his ego. In any case, he had been designed uniquely from Eggman’s other inventions, having been the result of a slipshod experiment. You see, Eggman had originally intended for the Tails Doll to be a prototype for a new method of creating robots he had been toying with. He had infused a few mechanical parts with organic tissue. The Tails Doll, for all intents and purposes, was a cyborg. The results were rather gruesome, but the being had operated with terrific efficiency. Eggman decided to use this as his final product. However, it was horrifically grotesque, with a face not even a mother could love. To resolve this, Eggman created a suit of fine cloth to hide the creature’s true appearance. He even made it look somewhat like Tails as his little joke. Lacking creativity as he did, Eggman decided to call it, simply, the Tails Doll.
The Tails Doll certainly presented a challenge to even Sonic’s legendary speed, but was ultimately no match for Super Sonic. Having lost the race, the Tails Doll was betrayed and scrapped by Eggman, dubbed as “so much useless garbage”. So there the doll waited, rotting away in a scrap heap. Lacking the basic necessities of life, the organic components withered, died, and rotted away. The mechanical parts short-circuited and rusted. All that survived was a plush, empty shell.
Years later, the skin of the Tail Doll, which had somehow miraculously survived, was discovered by a nomadic wanderer. The man found its appearance endearing and went to fix it right up. He restuffed it with foam and stitched it back together. The final product was somewhat less cute than it had when the man first found it. He dismissed it, just like Eggman, as junk and threw it away once again.
Unbeknownst to anyone, a bit of residual memory still existed in the Tails Doll’s seemingly inanimate patchwork, left over from the organic matter that had once resided inside him. This little bit of consciousness allowed him to think and feel such emotions as love, joy, fear, anger, envy, and hatred. It permitted him to experience such sensations as sight, touch, smell…
And hunger.
So this was his prison, a garbage can in a dreary little town on Mobius. The bond that kept him from moving was the body of a doll, incapable of any motor activity. However, one thing remained very active. The doll’s consciousness. And, eventually, this would allow him to overcome the bounds of physics. To live.

Chapter 2

The Tails Doll suddenly became aware of a bright light. The dumpster in which he resided had been opened. A hand reached in, and the doll willed it to find him and pull him out. After minutes, he began to lose all hope, expecting the dumpster to close at any moment and encase him once again in darkness. But that didn’t happen. The man’s hand brushed the doll’s plush exterior, and then closed around him. The Tails Doll felt the sensation of rising, rising up into the air. Suddenly, he found himself outside, for the first time in what seemed like an eternity. His rescuer was a scraggly old man, with long, ragged hair and an unkempt beard. He wore only a frayed, sleeveless shirt and a pair of pants, now in rags. He was obviously rooting around the dumpster in search of food, but this doll wasn’t exactly on his menu. He tossed the doll away in disgust.
At last, after so long, he was finally free! However, he still couldn’t move. Or could he? He couldn’t help but wonder if he had been the one who caused the man to find him? Perhaps his will was what caused him to be found just when all hope seemed lost. And if he could influence another person’s actions, surely he could control himself. The Tails Doll concentrated harder than it ever had before, but after a few seconds, it still didn’t seem like anything was happening. He shut his eyes tight in concentration, straining himself.
Finally, he felt a twitch in his arm. He was elated now that he knew he could move on his own, so the rest became much easier. He continued to focus, and he stood completely upright, held up by his own two feet! He took one experimental step, but being unused to independent movement, he faltered and fell again. After recovering to his feet again, the Tails Doll took another go at it. It took him several tries, but he finally managed to take one jerky step forward. Then another. And another. Soon, he was walking normally, stumbling only every once and awhile.
Now that he was free, the doll couldn’t help but wonder what to do next. He had wanted to escape, but hadn’t thought all that much about what he would do once he got out. He recalled his visions of Sonic and company and decided that he would try to make some friends. The Tails Doll walked up to a female passerby and waved.
“Hi!” It said, “Do you want to be my friend?” The woman shrieked and ran across to the opposite side of the street and immediately began whispering in peoples’ ears and pointing at the doll. As she went, more and more inquiring gazes fixed upon the perplexed little plushie. He cocked his head to the side, a gesture what would have been absolutely adorable if it hadn’t been for his appearance. Then, one by one, the people began to cross the street and gather around the doll, who stared up at them questioningly. They began mumbling to each other in voices to low for the doll to hear, although he could make out some of the words.
“Abominable…”
“Disgusting…”
“Horrendous…”
“Ugly.” It was all too much for the poor doll. He didn’t know why they were doing this. He began whirling around, looking for a way out, and fell down. The people began to laugh. Then, the Tails Doll’s eyes fixed upon a broken piece of mirror propped up against a wall. He looked into it and saw himself for the first time. He truly was ugly. There was stuffing sticking out of him in multiple places, and the stitches were very obvious. He had multiple patches that didn’t quite match his true color, and there were rips and cuts all over him. He was absolutely appalling.
The doll collapsed on his knees and began to sob, each tear bringing another peal of laughter from the crowd. Suddenly, his head snapped up, and all the joy, hope, mercy, and life drained from his eyes, replaced by a dark void that would suck the soul right out of you. Something sprouted from his scalp, a red gem, followed by a stem that kept it attached to the doll’s head. The chorus of giggles died down and was replaced by gasps of awe and fear as the Tails Doll floated up into the air. It hovered there for a moment, eyeing the diverse gathering of people. They stared back at him, jaws dropped. A red glow suddenly appeared in the doll’s eyes, and everybody ran for their lives. The Tails Doll continued to scan the fleeing people, eventually spotting the woman he had originally talked to. He flew into her back, knocking her to the ground. He floated above her and said,
“I’ll ask again. Do… you… want… to be… my… friend?” She never had a chance to answer. The last thing she saw was the gaping mouth of the Tails Doll diving toward her face…
And the last thing she heard was a solitary question…

“CaN yOu FeEl ThE sUnShInE?”

Chapter 3

The Tails Doll just floated and gazed at the now lifeless body of the woman he’d just killed. A puddle of fresh blood pooled around the corpse, and the Tails Doll felt the slightest twinge of regret. This was the first time it had killed. However, the shock of committing homicide wore off soon, replaced by a dark emotion, half rage, and half sorrow. Now he knew that he could never be accepted into this world. He would never know the joy of friendship, nor the sensation of true life. And he knew who he had to thank.
Eggman.
The brooding doll suddenly felt himself filled with a passionate hatred for the man who had both created and forsaken him. He wanted to kill him. However, he was smart enough to know that reaching Eggman might present something of a challenge, what with leagues of robots always following at his heels. He needed a plan. If he truly wanted revenge, he couldn’t afford to be reckless. So he began to form a plot against the doctor in his fuzz-filled head. That was when he remembered the change that had befallen him. The crystal that had suddenly grown from his head. He looked up at it and noticed that it now glowed with a dim light. It hadn’t been doing that at first.
The doll had an thought. He quickly and casually sought out a human. He tried to run, but it was absolutely useless. Pathetic even. The doll pounced on him and severed the man’s head with his now-clawed paw. Then something happened, something the doll hadn’t noticed before. A faint red sparkle rose out of the man’s body before being sucked right into the crystal. The Tails Doll observed this with a sincere interest. This was a very fascinating find. He killed several more people, and the same thing happened every time, and as he killed, he began to feel as if his hunger was being satisfied. As if he fed off of the very essence of life. He also noticed that, as he “ate”, he recovered, becoming closer to his original state. The patches faded away, and the fluff went back inside of him, and the stitches became tighter. However, the time for experimenting was not now. He had some business to attend to first.
Taking his revenge on Eggman.
The first order of business, and probably the most difficult, would be finding him. He searched for any sign and even asked some people if they knew where he could find them, but they all just ran away. So he killed them. It was quite awhile before he noticed a large fleet of flying machines overhead. The Tails Doll figured that this would be a likely place to find Eggman, considering his inventive genius. The doll took flight, leaving the surface of Mobius far below him. With the utmost caution, the doll flew up and landed on the deck of what must have been the main ship. It was absolutely covered with egg pawns, bustling about clumsily, running errands, and the like. The doll merely sat motionless on the deck. Eventually, he was spotted by a particularly curious robot. It stalked over and picked the doll up. Instantly, the doll saw its chance. It took over the mechanic mind of the robot and forced it to do his bidding. With the doll still in hand, the pawn unwittingly made its way to the inner chamber of the craft, in Eggman’s chambers. The robot put the doll at Eggman’s feet and left the room, making sure to face Eggman the whole way. It tripped over itself before quickly getting back up and dashing out of the room, leaving the Tails Doll alone with its creator.
Wondering why the robot would possibly bring this thing to him, Eggman picked it up and examined it closely. After a few minutes of studying the doll, a smile of recognition slowly spread over his face. This was the same doll he had thrown away so many years ago. Despite himself, he let out a chuckle. His ridiculous laugh slowly subsided as he realized that there was no way the doll could possibly have gotten to up to the Egg Fleet, unless…
An expression of sheer surprise and horror replaced Eggman’s smug grin.
He never had a chance to scream.
When the Tails Doll left the inner chamber, he was instantly assailed by robots of all shapes and sizes. They sky was filled with gunshots, lasers, and explosions, but none of it could harm the Tails Doll. It quickly and efficiently deactivated all of the robots on deck in a matter of minutes. Once he was alone again, he began to think. Eggman’s spark hadn’t been quite as filling as the others. Why? Perhaps it was because Eggman was evil. That’s when it struck him. The red sparks that he had seen were souls. The reason Eggman’s was so meager was because his soul was tainted with darkness. He needed more pure souls.
This presented no problem, though. He knew just where to go, thanks to his visions. Sonic and his friends would make the perfect snacks.

Chapter 4

In his visions, the doll had seen Sonic interacting with many different people. He had gotten a glimpse of their appearances, personalities, abilities, and in some cases, even fighting styles. He had also seen where they lived. He supposed that, considering he was still somewhat inexperienced, he should hunt down the weakest of the group first and work his way up. This meant that his first target was Big the cat, a morbidly obese purple feline with an empty space where his brain should be. The Tails Doll chuckled. This would be almost too easy. Though the cat didn’t have any defined home, the doll doubted it would be very hard to spot the big bumbling cat from overhead.
He was right. The Tails Doll found Big at the docks, fishing. It was obvious why they called him Big. He definitely looked much more formidable than he had in the visions. Perhaps the doll had made a mistake by choosing him first. The dock looked as if it were about to snap under the cat’s massive girth. However, the doll figured that this would do no good for Big, considering the extra weight would serve only to slow him down. This thought calmed the Tails Doll enough for him to silently descend to the ground and begin sneaking up on his unsuspecting victim. However, just feet away from the Big, the cat turned his head and glanced backwards.
“Froggy?” He inquired with a voice that made it obvious to the doll that this particular feline was probably about as sharp as his portly body. The cat turned around to face him.
“Hey, you’re not froggy!” He said dumbly. The Tails doll leapt, claws extended, straight for the fat felines stomach, which turned out to be a huge mistake. As the wickedly sharp blades sank into the cat’s flesh, Big let out a yowl of pain. He took the doll in his oversized hand and began to crush him. Though it was slightly uncomfortable, it did little to actually harm the doll, who sank his teeth into Big’s wrist. The cat let out another cry of pain and let go. This was a rather large mistake, as it gave the doll another chance to lunge at him. This time, Big was prepared. He brought up his fishing rod and swung it around. Though he seemed large and clumsy, the cat was surprisingly dexterous with the rod, and the hook caught the doll. Big immediately began to swing the plush around, sending him crashing into objects. The Tails Doll felt the cloth where the hook had caught ripping, and suddenly, he knew just what to do. While Big continued to swing him around, the doll grabbed the fabric where the hook had caught and tore the rip wider, and the hook lost its grip. The doll went tumbling into the water, while Big, thrown off by the sudden change in velocity, stumbled and fell into the water as well. The doll floated up out of the water and dived for Big, who attempted to defend his face. However, it was all in vain. He was too slow, and the doll made short work of him. Big’s body now rests at in the ocean, at the foot of the dock.
Despite his lack of intelligence, Big had a good heart, and his soul was exquisite. It was pure enough to completely heal the rip in his flesh caused by the cat’s hook. Still, the doll craved more, and he know exactly who he would track down next.
Cream the rabbit.

Chapter 5

The Tails Doll wandered the streets of Mobius, searching for the home of Cream and her mother, Vanilla. Fortunately… or unfortunately… he know where it was. As he reached his destination, he found himself before a cozy little villa. It was quite isolated, the perfect place for a single mother to raise her daughter. Conscious that Vanilla might be home, the doll crept in through an open window. He thought it rather idiotic of someone to leave a window open like that, but these people obviously weren’t concerned with the possibility of break-ins in broad daylight. The Tails Doll made his way through the small home until he found what he was looking for. It was Vanilla, washing dishes in the kitchen. Of course, she would have to be disposed of before he could get to Cream. He silently crept up behind her and swiftly jabbed his paws into certain pressure points on the back of her neck. Vanilla passed out instantly, her face slumping forward into the dishwater. She would surely drown, and he would come back for her soul later.
Finding Cream’s room after that wasn’t very difficult. It was a very small home with few rooms. When the doll found her, she was sitting in her room with her dolls, having what appeared to be a tea party. A little blue thing was eagerly participating in the festivities. A sick, twisted, and cruel idea popped into the doll’s even more sick, twisted, and cruel mind. He entered the room slowly, careful not to attract Cream’s attention. He then crouched into a rather sizable pile of dolls not far away from where Cream sat. He subtly set to work on the young rabbits mind. She immediately stopped what she was doing. She reached into the pile of dolls and dragged the Tails Doll out by his arm, just as he had intended. She then seated him across from her and resumed the tea party. Now came the fun part.
Cream inquired sweetly if the doll would like some tea, to which he replied,
“No, BuT i MiGhT lIkE sOmE oF yOuR bLoOd.”
The girl only stared at him, too shocked to do anything but shiver. The doll had that effect on people. Finally, she cried out in terror, but there was nobody around to hear. The doll floated out of his chair and prepared to strike, but the look of sheer horror and innocence in Cream eyes made him stop. For a moment, he just glared at her, wondering if he should really kill this sweet, naïve little girl. And then, as quickly as the thought had come, the doll pounced.
But before he could reach the rabbit, he felt a hard impact on his stomach. He looked down to see that the blue thing had flown up and rammed right into his midsection. It mattered not. He casually grabbed the thing by its wing and flung it against the far wall. It fell to the ground and remained motionless.
“Cheese!” The young rabbit yelled. So, that was its name. The doll turned his attention once again to Cream. He started floating slowly toward her…
Bang!
The doll felt a sharp pain on the back of its head. He turned about to face Vanilla, not drowned, hefting a weighty-looking frying pan. Before he could make a move, she swung it at him again, this time knocking him into the wall. Almost as soon as he hit, he sped back out again. This time, there was no way Vanilla could block his blow, and she would die. This time, however, she didn’t need to. The little blue thing was up again, and it had crashed into his side, knocking him drastically off course. This was followed up by another blow from Vanilla’s pan. The doll acted quickly, grabbing Cheese around the throat and rapidly choking the thing to death, ignoring Vanilla’s blows. Once he was out of the way, the doll dived once again for Vanilla. And this time, Cheese wasn’t there to save her. The Tails Doll swiped with his claws, effectively rending Vanilla’s neck. She slumped to the ground, dead.
Throughout this entire conflict, Cream had merely stood by and watched. Seeing her mother brutally killed was just too much, and she finally fainted. All the better, the doll supposed. Even he felt slightly guilty about killing one so young and innocent. When he killed Cream, he did it neatly, making sure not to spill any blood. He owed her that much. But after her soul left the body to join with the crystal, he felt his power rise greatly, and he regretted nothing.
He was left standing alone amidst the bodies, but he ignored them, much more intent on who would be his next target…

To be continued…
