They don't hire based on knowledge. :D They hire people that are clueless, because they have "experience".

I really do think Gaming knowledge should be a job requirement there, but also experience and knowing people help as well. I really do want to try and get a job at the one close by to me if I could at some point. I am pretty sure the friend I know is the manager, not all the way sure, but knowing him helps.
I'm a gamer and always will be a gamer. If you don't believe me. I have 430 Video Games and 19 Consoles.

I doubt you could beat that unless you are a gamer as well! =P

Oh the first really stupid thing I saw from a game store. When I was there to finish paying off Killzone 2, some lady and her son that was in his teens(I'd guess around 15-16) was getting an Xbox 360. What's funny is they asked if they gave a warranty for the 360 and the employees said yes. The lady said, "I'm not worried about him stomping on it and breaking it, but I'm just worried about the red ring of death that you got last time". What the employees didn't tell them is that Microsoft gives a 3 year warranty for that and told them their new 360 would have a warranty on it by Microsoft so they basically duped them into buying a new 360 instead of getting it repaired.

This just goes to show you the average consumer doesn't know squat and unless you put a HUGE sticker on the box that says "3 year warranty", they won't know(which I'm sure Microsoft is happy about). I wonder just how many people rebought their 360s without knowing about the warranty? Probably a lot, and on top of the people that had to rebuy them before the warranty was increased to 3 years. Consumers are stupid, but I laughed in my head while it was going on.
That's horrible. If she had no idea, why would you call her stupid? It's not exactly every mothers sworn duty to know every **Bleep**ing thing about a console they have no intention of playing. I think the guy behind the desk who ill-informed her is complete jackass, not her. And I may as well add, Microsoft is a pretty stable company, at this point in time, customer happiness is most likely essential to them, if they knew, I doubt they would be 'happy'. It impracticle for a company to want someone to keep buying consoles, because in the end they'll move onto another company. Which means they'll buy no more games. So from a business and ethical side, Microsoft be pissed. D:<

I didn't call her stupid, I called the average consumer stupid/UNEDUCATED. If you are buying a console for a child that broke down on you, you really should do some research. I would have said something but I wasn't really paying attention to them and I didn't piece everything together till after I left.

The only thing you have to worry about with Microsoft though, is if your console is out of the one year warranty and the problem is not the Red Ring of Death, you better be willing to shell out $100 to fix the console. I should be shipping mine off this weekend, but that is how much it will cost for them to fix my scratching disk problem though.

That sucks TF, but all electronics have some lemons. Luckily I haven't yet bought a lemon. Yeah my PS1 broke on me, but it was like years after I got it and I already had my money's worth out of it. I would hate to have a console die only 1-3 years after I bought it.

My original PS2 broke down after about three years of use and I had it sent in and repaired, though Sony did it for free I think. I then used that one for a couple of more years until it broke down yet again. I now for about two years now have been playing one of those skinny silver ps2's. My ps2 collection is my biggest collection thus why when I get a ps3 I will want one with ps2 backwards compatibility since I still play ps2 games often.

I haven't heard much funny stuff in a gamestore. Mabey you could count the little bobble-head Halo figures on sale at gamestop, and mabey you could count that when I went to pick up my preorded copy of Brawl, countless amounts of moms tried to buy my copy off of me. Belive me, those moms REALLY wanted to get a copy of Brawl for their sons.

Those mom's should have been at my gamestop XD

I preorded it, and they had expected a mad rush for the game, but barely anyone was there and the copies were all just sitting there on the shelves behind them where all their major releases were.

People complained about lack of them, there was no lack here. There were at least 15 or 20 copies behind that counter that no one was getting it seemed.

I went to another gamestop and i heard this guy talking about Halo 4..

I was like WTF, i came up and lisitoned, he kept on going on how you can see M.Cheif without his Helment, So I interupted and told him it's not Halo 4, It's Halo Wars

He said, Well what about the other 2 huh? I said "That's Halo 3: ODST and Halo Chronicles, Doofus"

So he got offended and walked away, the lady gave me a glare, I took out my magazine, ripped out the Halo Wars section and gave it too her, She was happy , pre-ordered it and went about her ways...

But seriously.. Halo 4... Thats dumb..
Wasted Fan-fics 4Eva.
Because of Sonic Blast

I'm not sure this counts, but I heard of a guy who got a game-over and bought another copy of the game. Aperantly he thought game-over meant the game no longer works.

So this wasn't my experience, but I heard someone had this today... Someone asked, "Hey, I want Killzone 2" and the employee said, "Ok for PS3 or 360". He then said, "If you can find me a copy of the 360 version I would be impressed" and the employee was like, "Well... they are going to make a 360 version". So he responded with "Yes I'm sure they're going too" in an agreeing sarcastic tone. :D

It's amazing how A) they don't know about what they're selling and B) they'll make up B.S. on the fly that is really stupid. One time at GameCrazy I was waiting to get rung up and the dude on the phone said, "No we don't have anymore 80 gig PS3s, but they have a 120 gig coming out in the summer"... This was like spring '08 and it was completely false and I was just laughing in my head.
