I was looking around and ran across someone talking about the new DS, called the DSi. I heard this and at least had to hear what it had in it. I was rather shocked when I heard it, and not in a good way in most of them. Well, they have yet again shrunk the DS again, smaller than the DS light, but they cut battery life. There is one nail. It has digital cameras in it, but who really needs this. It's like they are trying to be like the PSP the article says. Second Nail. The biggest nail is they got rid of the GBA port on it. The GBA port on my DS is used quite often still yes and I just like it there since I would rather use my DS than my SP. Does this all sound appealing to you, because it doesn't to me. Getting a Light one day might be appealing, but from the sound of this one, it sounds like basically you lose a bunch of features and simply gain a camera that you also have to buy memory cards for. Doesnt sound good to me. |

This is actually quite old news, but apparently people like the upgrades, because so many DS owners went and bought new ones, but the initial "OMG NEW DS" rush has died out. I don't think it's really a downgrade, because most people don't even use GBA games on their DS anymore, that was more for when it was new and didn't have any games. A minority probably still use it regularly, but if they do that means they already have a DS and wouldn't care. Edited by Neo Metallix, Jan 26 2009, 09:19 PM.

Well you do know this one hasn't come out yet. But I looked for some polls that asked people if they would actually want to buy the DSi. I was surprised actually. About 50% of the people said that it was not worth it since they already had a previous model, and over 17% also were mad about the GBA port being taken away. So that only leaves about 33% that Might or will buy the system. Those don't sound like promising figures to me first off hearing about it. |

It came out in Japan and was enough to skyrocket it into the stratosphere, even beating out the PSP which was selling double it. Again that new DS craze in Japan is over now. Plus that's just a few polls on a gaming community..

It still doesn't sound that wonderful. These are suppose to be portable gaming systems. Not a digital camera. I already have camera, so why would I need something else that can take pictures. My phone has a camera in it as well. I go for things that have game capability not non game capability.

Yeah, I don't know what Nintendo is thinking nowadays. I heard about the DSi a while back ago. I don't like it one bit. I mean, there are some games which you NEED the GBA slot for. I also still use the GBA slot regularly because I prefer playing my GBA games on the DS rather than my GBA or my sister's SP. Why they would cut the battery life in half, I do not know. I have to charge my DS after 2 hours of gameplay, but that's 'cause it's old. And why want a DS that can take photos when you can get a proper camera that's cheaper and you don't have to buy memory cards for? I have to fully agree with Tails Fanatic. |

What's the point of the DSi anyway? Just because most people don't use the DS to play GBA games doesn't mean they should take the port out; that's just silly and is essentially a downgrade. And who seriously would want to take pictures with a DS? Fail. They've taken a step back with the DSi; I say screw it and keep using the old tech. |

The only reason I'd get this is for 358/2 Days, but even THAT'S not enough. I'll stick with my DS Lite.

I've already played with it a bit hands on at my work since we have a couple Japanese imports for sale. It is much more functional than the older DS systems and I could care less about the GBA port (just keep the old DS if you want to play gameboy games on it) because this serves as a media player like the PSP though not quite as nicely. I didn't like the audio quality when playing music but the camera was actually pretty nice and could come in handy for someone like me.. who owns no digital camera. xD

I see no real need for a media player on a gaming device. That's what a MP3 player is for basically. And no GBA cart area kills many games from back then and now that might need the slight or for like in the Pokemon games. You can't do the back trading with one. Just giving you examples. We don't need another PSP like device that is only half on gaming. |

PSP isn't half on gaming, unless you treat it that way. You can use it for nothing but gaming if you want to, heck you don't even have to view the XMB, just have it launch games automatically from start up.

I might be getting it, seeing as I don't need the GBA slot (and I still have my SP) and I've yet to buy myself a DS.

The main reason I say that stuff is I don't see PSP commercials for games anymore or for the system at all really. And with the library not being all that mega big at the moment it would see for some reason. I just basically assume that most people seem to be using the PSP for those movies or for music purposes over the games and such now. |
