 OMG, I can relate to this topic in almost every possible way. Its creepy... I even had that "Got any pokemon cards" thing happen to me, I'm freaked out at how much I can relate.

Trust me, this situation is better if you DON'T have a choice. When that happened to me, the girl moved to somewhere else, and now, over a year later, I am almost over her. But seriously, give up. TRUST ME!

Don't hate me cause I'm better than you. Hate me cause your girlfriend likes me more than you. Hate me cause I rob your house on a daily basis, hate me cause my car can actually be called a car instead of a rolling turd, and lastly, hate me cause my IQ is actually HIGHER than a shovel, frankly, I'm amazed you can read this. Anyway, don't hate me cause I'm better than you, hate me for the reasons I just listed.

P.S. I'd list more reasons, but someone as pathetic as you probably would reach this point and run into the corner, break down, and cry.

Okay, now that that's out of my system, I just wanted to go against what everyone is saying. Move on. Forget about her. Blah, blah, blah.

Trust me, that is one of the last things you want to do.
I was in the same exact postition about two years ago, in 6th grade. Man, I liked this dude SO. MUCH. But guess what? My friends asked him out for me. (Similarities) He said he'd think about it. (Similarities) People on mah jock and his about the whole thing. (Similarities) He said yes. (Hm) For three days. (AH! That really sucked) Then he ended it, because people would not shut the **Bleep** up about it! If your school is anything like mine, no one will ever let you live through this. No. Matter. What. You claim to forget about it. It. Lasts. For. Years. It's like the Grudge 2, man. Just keeps coming back until it kills ya.
Do what I did, and be extra appreciatively friendly to her, not in a liking way. Even if you want to forget about her, and not be in a relationship-past-friendship with her, so what? Won't change the fact of what happened, am I right? So you will only be embarrassing yourself if you totally drop said person, ignoring them and everything. Because trust me, I tried that (oh, boy, did I) and man, it DID. NOT. WORK. Your peers and everyone involved and who knew about what happened will still remember it. Enev when you don't. Pretending like it didn't to an extent won't work, trust me on that one.
