Don't ask why, but I was just reading the Sonic Unleahsed area of this parents website; "What They Play", And this Is what they had to say about it:

Quote:

Sonic Unleashed is an action adventure game that incorporates a number of different gameplay styles. Players familiar with the Sonic franchise’s high-speed platform-jumping and ring-collecting mechanics will recognize some of the core gameplay here, but may be surprised by the prevalence of alternate concepts. The game makes use of a day and night cycle throughout, and levels attempted at night cause the hero to transform into an angry wolf-like “Werehog” causing the gameplay to become combat and puzzle focused. In these levels Sonic must defeat large numbers of bad guys by slashing at them with his claws before solving challenges presented by the environment. The Werehog is able to climb and grapple his way around the levels, and players must experiment with jumping and grabbing onto portions of the environment to successfully navigate through. There is a great deal of trial and error required in these portions, and the slow pace of these challenges starkly contrasts the frenetic, high-speed Sonic-focused levels. There are also a number of stages that break up the action with simple pattern matching “rhythm” style gameplay.

The game spends a great deal of time explaining what is required of the player, and there are “signposts” throughout the game that provide hints and tips on what to do, and how to do it. Consequently there is a lot of text to read in the game. Strangely though, there are a number of key areas where this direction is not provided, typically prior to “boss” fights and confrontations with larger enemies.

Sonic Unleashed has been rated “Everyone 10+” from the ESRB, and carries content descriptors of “Animated Blood” and “Fantasy Violence.” Both of these concern the levels in which Sonic transforms into the “Werehog” and uses his large claws to eliminate large numbers of bad guys. Though the descriptor specifically notes “blood” it should be noted that none of the creatures in the game produce anything that appears realistic. Many creatures simply burst into a shower of the Sonic franchise’s signature rings, while larger “boss” creatures spurt a green liquid when successfully hit.

The cinematic scenes that play between the game’s levels may be a little scary for some younger players (or viewers sitting with mom or dad while they play.) There are numerous scenes of Sonic being chased or shot at by robots with laser guns, and the scenes where Sonic transforms into the Werehog show his teeth and claws growing as he hunches over and hair sprouts all over his body.

Don't get my wrong, but did they even play the Game? It seem like half the things they said about the game are wrong. I haven't looked at any of the other Sonic Games on that site yet, But I might get around to it.

Discuss.

A moron wrote this. I don't see how it's "scary", especially because of that 6 yr old who learned gow to drive from GTA. That, THAT'S scary! It's a load of bull and it's no wonder why parents don't understand video games with sites like these.

Well, that's not really what I was talking about. I was referring to more the "facts" about the game. But you're still half-right.

Please, thats coming from one of the most balloix sites I've ever heard of.
Enough with all this crap saying that parents must monitor every single movement there child makes. Children fall over, they get hurt, they learn. If they never experience these things because they're wrapped in parenting bubble-wrap, they'll hit one hell of a shock later in life.

As for the review. Its written by hippies. Nuff said.

Quickly children, shield your virgin eyes from the scary robots that resemble a big fat man, they shoot lasers! Oh my god, Sonic is turning into a demon spawned from the depths of hell! Someone, grab me my bible so I may smite the wicked evils that are tormenting our children.

What is this garbage I'm reading? D:
This site sounds extreme. I can't imagine a young kid who would cringe and cower at robots that shoot lasers (Sonic robots). How scary are these Unleashed robots that they are going to scar kids? Are the old Sonic game robots equally as scary to these guys? I mean, that red crab in the Green Hill Zone sure looks dangerous, with his sharp claws and tossing fireballs or whatever it is.
These robots in Sonic games must be Terminator scary.

What the heck!? How are the cut scenes "scary"? I can understand the final boss, and maybe the Werehog transformation. But come on! The robots!? There was nothing scary about them! That Professor Pickle guy was more frightening than them.

Numerous scenes of Sonic being shot at by robots? Last I checked there was only really one scene and that was the intro. The rest have Sonic destroying the robots.

About the hints and stuff, those were more like tutorials. I seriously don't know what they were thinking about the the lack of hints in boss fights. What fun is battling a boss the first time around if you know how to beat it? Half the challenge is discovering the boss's weak points.

I agree with RyanDaHedgehog. It seems as all they did was watch their kids play a few levels and put together this "review". If you can call it one that is.

This is one of the main reason's that parents are majorly over protective.

Not to go off-topic but doesn't this kinda remind you about the whole Fox News vs Mass Effect debate.
