Well what am I saying? The media has always been shit, but it's just so darned funny that the sheep continue believing what they are fed by the teet of corporate media. Laugh with me!!! It's so damn funny!! Hahaha ahahaha ha! /psycho Yahoo is now posting its doom and gloom about PSP, saying how it's "doomed" and "failing"... Goodbye PSP. This article is so misleading who ever wrote this must not have done any homework. What is the reason for this highly incorrect statement? Well I think it has to do with the sales and popularity. I remember when the media and press was bashing the Big N's motion sensing console before it was ever launched. Now all of a sudden its the talk of the town. Why the change of minds? Just because its #1 on the market? It's certainly not games, because the Media even admits the Wii has had a lousy year. Remember the Dreamcast? The media was praising it at first around launch, but before the PS2 launched all of a sudden they reminded the gamers about Sega's past like the Saturn, 32X, Sega CD. Was all of that necessary? It was IMO one of the reasons it ended up the way it did. There were other factors as well. I thought the N64 and Gamecube were good systems and boy did the media hammer them. I don't base systems on its popularity or sales, I base them for what they are: hardware, selection of games, and fun factor. On the article he used words like "disappeararing", "eroding", "nobody's making PSP games any more", "nobody's buying them", "psp hardware designs old hat", "missed the boat", etc. He even compared the Iphone & Ipod Touch. What the hell! He's right, no ones buying PSP's that explains why there's over 40+ million PSP's worldwide, it's continuing to sell at a good pace, why Final Fantasy Crisis Core is close to selling 2 million copies worldwide, etc. That also explains why Sony, Capcom, and SquareEnix are showing a lot of love and support for the handheld: So why are they reporting this garbage when none of it is true?! I think the media is trying to please the readers hence supporting the stronger and bashing the weaker. Clearly not "professional" at all, but it has always been that way. If you know your stuff, then journalist's articles are just another person's biased opinion, but most people do not and that's why we see the big influence of the gaming websites nowadays. I've seen people that are getting rid of their PSP all because of the junk that they read on the Internet. An example of mindless suckling; a friend of mine was going to get rid of his PS3 simply because an article stated that PS3 has no good games coming out(There's no denying it's '09 lineup is looking good) and BluRay is dying(Dark Knight set records for BluRay). I'm not usually the type of person that insults people but I called him an idiot. If he/she jumps the bridge, are you gonna jump as well? Don't believe everything that the media/Press says and don't believe everything that FOX News or CNN says. Some people are naive bubbles and I could post evidence from all over the spectrum including: cars, music, musicians, etc. In conclusion, THE MEDIA SUCKS AND ALWAYS HAS!!! |

Gotta agree with you man, the media is manipulated by the markets and the markets will twist the media to sell what they want when they want and even kill products they want gone. The Wii rides atop the media because that is what the industry wanted to be leading due to the fact that Nintendo had lost its standing in the previous generation. The PSP has always been a nice functional device from what I've seen, it can go on the internet, play MP3s, call people with Skype, and of course play games. While the PSP is lacking a wide variety of great games much like its primary console counterpart, it has had some blockbuster hits and "Monster Hunter" is already making a splash before hitting US shelves. The PSP is anything but dead from my view. BTW, The Dark Knight set records for like.. everything.. and I still find Blu-Ray to be a limited and unnecessary format, at least at this time. DVD is still the dominant force in the industry and it will take awhile for Blu to dethrone it. |

Really, well done. For figuring out that the media talks out of their arse's. Something they've been doing for as long as anyone can remember. Seriously, of course the media is corrupt. They always have been and always will be. I actually don't watch the news or read newspapers, because its all either depressing crap telling us whos dead, and whos gonna be dead, or its forcing words down peoples throats, overhyping the sniffles as a worldwide academic. Anyone remember bird flu. Yes, the deadly disease that was gonna kill 1/3 of our population. The very disease which just seemed to disappear about a few months later, and the most that happened was somebody with a bad flu. The media overhype everything, just to sell a story, and just to get their juicy paycheck at the end of the month. They hardly care that what they're saying is utter crap, as long as they get paid. Seriously, as for game reviewers, you can't trust big sites like those. The truth is that you have to make your own opinion. |

I agree with everything you said. I remember when Fox News threw a shitfest over Mass Effect..... a while after the game was released. Fox says they were nudity and sex scenes in the game or something like that. However, in the end, it was agreed that Mass Effect is really no more controversial then a teenager drama or something. Fox's reputation then got hurt badly to gamers. So that's defiantly one news place you don't need to go for video games. And I remember CNN called the PS3 a "sinking ship." Hahahahahaha Also, about the PSP, although I do prefer the DS over the PSP, I have to disagree with what they said. Christ, it's the first handheld that's actually giving Nintendo hard competition. It's even beating the DS in Japan(until the DSi came out). |

To be honest, I think your response to that article is the real funny one. You act like these things are surprising revelations, but they’re really not. The media is run by humans. And like any human (including you and me), they can lie, make mistakes, and change their minds. This should not be a shock to anyone.

Still, I was hoping the referenced article would be something more than a "PSP is dying" article. Not exactly material I'd use to show that the media has gone too far. Maybe an article that says "consoles leak radiation that gives you brain cancer", or something like that. |

The article is as ridiculous as an article claiming consoles leak radiation. Anyway, it's not a surprise article, I clearly said the media always sucked, but that article just shows how painfully obvious it is now. @Bowie... I don't know about that, the PSP has had some great titles and is getting bombarded by RPGs now. Monster Hunter set it on fire in Japan, but it sold like crap everywhere else. lol |

Yes, I'm sure it does. But wouldn't something that shows what we already know be more accurately called "business as usual" rather than "gone too far"? Meanwhile, a "consoles leak radiation" article would be the true "gone too far", because it would pose something of a threat to gaming as a whole...while the "PSP is dying" article is more a reporter just giving his opinion. If you don't like his opinion, well hey, no big deal. It's not going to affect much of anything anyway. Edited by Nail Strafer, Dec 31 2008, 12:31 PM.
