Need For Speed...even though I honestly want to like this series and its games. The problem is that EA is so determined to release a new NFS game every year around November. So, ever since 2000, every game that EA's made has felt rushed and overall lacks polish. I think they could have been so much better, if only they had two years or more in development.

NFS Undercover had two years in development though. They recently started a schedule where they have two teams working simultaneously, and they release their games on alternating years. This allows for more development time while still maintaining their schedule of one game every new year.

However, Undercover doesn't feel any different from the last three or four games. I want to see them make one game every two or three years, like Rockstar has done with Midnight Club. Midnight Club games always feel like they've had hard work, love, and care put into them, while Need For Speed games have a very manufactured feel to them, and they always feel like they're made just to make money.

True, nearly all video games were made to make money, but it's never more obvious than it is in NFS games. You see an obscenely large amount of advertising everywhere, most of it having nothing to do with cars (like Edge shaving cream, Best Buy, Burger King, Energizer batteries). They are so shameless about it that in Need for Speed Underground 2, you had a Cingular Wireless logo AS PART OF THE GODDAMN HUD, where it's IMPOSSIBLE TO MISS. And in more recent titles you can even buy things early just by paying in REAL MONEY.

Come on EA...put some real development time into your games. Put the soul back into them, like you did back in the 90s. I think you could really benefit from focusing on just one NFS game at a time. I don't mind having to wait longer for the next game.

Almost anything from Ubisoft. They always churn out games left and right, nearly as much as Madden.

Specific franchises would have to be:

Need For Speed - for reasons mentioned above.
Burnout - I think they should wait another year to put another one of these out.
Next Gen Sonic - Black Knight doesn't count as it's on Wii. I think they should wait till 2010 for a new Sonic game on 360/PS3.
Final Fantasy - They keep churning out spin offs and sequels, it's just disgusting. Squaresoft was the best at RPGs back in the day, but once they turned to Square-Enix, it was all about money and their games started sucking(look at the flop of The Last Remnant).

Other than that, nothing comes to mind.

Doesn't count because it's on the Wii? Is the Wii not considered a gaming system? They are lots of Sonic fans who have nothing but a Wii so you have to give the Wii some credit. Believe it or not, the Wii is next-gen. Don't just say that because of the graphics.

Call of Duty. I don't think they need to release one every year. I'm still busy with Modern Warfare, let alone World at War.

Oh and Guitar Hero and Rockband. Christ, especially Guitar Hero, they have lots of sequels every year.

It doesn't count because it's a whole different group of people working on it, I believe. Just like Secret Rings wasn't developed by the same people as Sonic '06.

The Wii is not anything like the 360 or PS3 in terms of hardware, so the whole it's going to be lumped with them doesn't fly. Saying it's in the same generation is acceptable.

I see. Well, I apologize then.

Also, forgot to add this, but no more Mario sport titles. The first year the Wii was released, we got the somewhat good Mario Strikers Charged. The second year which is now, we got the barely decent Super Sluggers. And I hear rumors that next year's game is Tennis. Ugh...

I still can't use this.

xD And yet you're on a Sonic forum. Highly interesting, Johnny.

Anyways, the first series I immediately thought of was the Rabbids series. I want those schizophrenic things to go away now. Ubisoft has given in to a lucrative path guaranteed by the Wii's catering to the casual crowd and continues to neglect the fact that Rayman actually started life as a platforming series, and a damn good one at that. We need more platformers Ubisoft, not Petz or Babyz or other "Items Pluralized By A Z Because It's Cool" games. I'm getting a little sick of it all.

Funny story about that. x_x
To be serious for a moment, I can really do without any Guitar Hero or Rockband games.

What is the difference between a duck?

Guitar Hero and Rock Band should both take a ten million year hiatus so there is at least SOME reason to buy them and not stick with their former installments or just release soundtracks on the online services.

No more Rabbids, no more Call of Duty (at least no more World War 2 styled crap), I agree that Final Fantasy needs to die.. when you have double digit sequels not counting side games for a story driven title then you need to be done. (Infinite Undiscovery on 360 is good so I will cut Square some slack for making something new that is good.. and as a 360 exclusive to boot!)

I never want to see anything related to Half-Life be released again =p and NO DAMN SUPERHERO GAMES.. I mean.. at all.

Then you'll be happy, because there should be Modern Warfare 2.
Also, Valve still needs to release the final Half Life 2: Episode 3. :P

They don't need to. THEY MUST REALESE THAT.

What I would hate to see in 2009 is anything from the big Nintendo Franchises. I mean they're fine but it wouldn't hurt them to make a starfox game for a change ?
