They got Freddy. Poor Freddy.

Spin knew that this fight had a little history behind it, since Dak had been Quartz's teacher a while back, and without that help, Quartz likely wouldn't be here fighting in the semis.

"Dakoter and Quartz! Report to the ring! Your match will now begin!"

(This one's gonna be interesting.)

"...Yooou're going to looose this onnne...."

"...Shut up, cat. Don't be needin' none o' that attitude - you hear me?"

"...Izno good, boss. I tries to stop the white one but ee dunna wanna lissen to a big seeegull lik me..."

"...Hey, good luck captain..."

The voices of his crew drifted in and out of his attentions, but Quartz stayed leaned against the railings, looking out over the vast lands below.

Once he'd grabbed a bite to eat and met a couple of his past opponents, Quartz had retreated back to the comfort of his beloved ship, The Threatened Silence, and made a quick trip home to Christmas Island, to try and get a hold of his senses. As much as part of his plan was to head loads of pressure on Dakoter, the lilac echidna was still severely rattled by the wolf's presence in the semi finals...

As the ship now sped quickly towards its destination, Quartz raised a hand to hold his hat on as the final approach began, the transport vessel making a spiralled descent onto the arena beneath its vast frame.

As the audience was sat in their chairs waiting for something to happen, they would be bathed in the warm heat of the Silence's thrusters as it lowered itself to a point where Quartz could rappel down to the dusty surface below; that same substance billowing in massive clouds everywhere, blocking out the sun.

Before Quartz dropped down, he caught a glimpse of his most trusted crewmates - Edward, the lanky streak of rat fluid. Sparkx, the great ox of a seagull who pretended to be stupid. Shao Aren, his pet cat who had the ability to speak and irritate seven different shades of excrement out of him all at the same time.
They were stood there in a group, Shao sitting on Edward's shoulder. Nobody exchanged anything but eye contact, each looking towards the other.

Eventually Quartz nodded. The ship was eating up fuel just hovering and he had to enter at some point. Leaning back, he started his long slide down the rope towards the arena floor, which was insanely fogged up with the turbulence from above.

As the vain one touched down - making sure his robes were still pristine and immaculate - the transporter boosted its power and flew off, heading for the landing bay. He nodded once more in thanks for the moral support, before turning his attentions to the arena.
Or more specifically, the double doors opposite the pair he was meant to have walked through.
Going off past history, Dakoter had never entered an arena any way other than through the designated entrance. And he didn't see any reason as to why that should change now. The door was just about visible anyways, now the cloud was settling down.

Arms folded to try and prevent showing the world that he was more nervous than a badnik facing up to Sonic the hedgehog, Quartz tried to discount the fear that Dakoter could enter at any other point, just like he had.

Ironically enough, this was the one battle in which Dak wouldn't enter the arena normally, and a vendor's scream of dismay ripped though the area as if to point out the sudden change. Only moment later, the lupine form of Dak was seen running along the parapet separating spectator seats from the battle ground, his paws nimbly falling one in front of the other as he traversed the thin walkway.

Most would wonder what had happened, though plenty saw the limp plushie hanging from his jaws, an arm already missing. He hopped down from the wall, throwing up a small cloud of dust as he landed in front of the neglected double doors, and shook his head back and forth. The doll all but exploded, and he tossed the last shreds of cloth out of his mouth with a bark.

Dak didn't like plushies, but the crowd seemed to enjoy his random display of hate. Those who already had dolls and other =SB= Grand Tournament(tm) merchandise of the wolf held them up, barking and howling.

The cacophony, for once, pleased the canine, and he turned to the crowd with his usual happy-pant and tail wag. He soon returned to his bipedal self, trotting not-too-close to the echidna.

"Long times no ssee," Dak spoke, loud enough for Quartz to hear. He lowered slightly, arms hanging limply and legs bent in a lazy defensive stance. "Readys?"

[ Team Evil Forever :') ]

The wolf arrived eventually, appearing slightly off to the one side from within the crowd. As he landed, it became evident that there was some sort of cuddly toy within his jaws... Dakoter cruelly ripped it to pieces with but a shake of his head, and then slowly stood up, prepared to fight. He then moved slowly over to nearer Quartz's position.

"Long times no ssee," Dak spoke, loud enough for Quartz to hear. He lowered slightly, arms hanging limply and legs bent in a lazy defensive stance. "Readys?"
Upon hearing the voice once more, what was up until that point a pipedream was now completely and utterly shattered; a nightmare become reality... Dakoter Artemis, nemesis of the night and one-time underling of Robotnik, was now stood before him, raring to go.

He was stood way too close for the sniper rifle...
"Master Artemis," the captain said courteously, removing his hat as he went for a quick bowing gesture - all the while trying to conquer the fear that radiated from deep within his soul. "We meet once again," he politely remarked as he replaced the hat.

The echidna frowned, concentrating on pushing the fear to one side. "When I left you, I was but the learner, now I am the master. I will defeat you and move on."

Upon finishing this bold statement, the captain then drew Daikatana and took an aggressive stance; he leaned back onto his right leg, presenting his left side to Dak. His right arm was bent at the elbow and the forearm and sword were as one, pointing at the enemy. His left was fully extended, two fingers and thumb guiding his focus and attention towards the wolf.
"I don't believe I ever introduced you... " he said absent-mindedly. "Dak, in my right hand is my weapon of choice, Daikatana. Daikatana, this is lunch."

[Oooh I am having the goose-pimples!]

The one thing Quartz forgot to realize was that dogs were very good at smelling and sensing fear; the echidna may have convinced himself that he was menacing, but to Dak, the guy was shaking like a leaf.

He was going to play on that. Big time.

He only clicked his teeth in a chastising manner as Quartz drew his blade. With a smirk, the wolf stood straighter, his hands crossing to the opposite sides and reaching for somethings under his jacket.

His two katars hissed with mirth and glinted in the day's light as Dak pulled them from their sheaths.

"Daik'tana," Dak gleamed, gripping the two blades and holding them diagonally toward the ground, one forward and the other behind. "It's a pleasures. Meet Laughs and Smiles!"

Before he had completed his sentence, Dak shot toward his opponent, raising the forward katar, Laughs, to shoulder height. He closed on the echidna rapidly, both blades flashing- and suddenly hit the brakes. His accumulated speed and force dragged him the remaining two feet toward his opponent in a controlled skid, and the katar flashed and split the air as he made a wide, horizontal arc for the echidna's middle.

The skid was advantageous. Though he had lost most of the force behind his swing, he also lost any momentum that would pull him forward should the blow miss. If Quartz blocked with Daikatana, his katar would glance, allowing the wolf to whirl around the guard and attack with Smiles from the flank.

And so it came to this. For the first time in Quartz's memory, he was finally going to have an all-out duel with his sensei.

A chance encounter in a Station Square bookstore - one was researching the Ice Cap zone, the other searching for the latest comic book - led to a meeting years later, whereby the studier taught the Manga freak a few tricks.

One of which was about to be revealed.

The wolf presented his weapons; those familiar katars. What wasn't so familiar was their names.
Quartz began sweating just that little bit more; it was almost as if his former teacher was playing with him.

The first blow came in from the wolf's left clawed paw. It came in hard and true, aiming straight for the torso of the vain one.
However, Quartz was more than a little experienced in this fighting lark; he knew that Dakoter was holding back, that he was also probably lining up a blow with his right hand to follow up the initial strike.
So the move then was to block one attack whilst simultaneously negating the second. which Quartz anticipated perfectly.

As the shining katar swung in, Quartz lashed out with his sword to parry it - but rather than backhand it away, Quartz brought his arm across his body, to try and force the dagger-esq blade into the rapidly approaching right katar rather than send it swinging away from him and gift Dakoter extra momentum for his follow-up.

Quartz countered this parry by aiming to kick Dakoter in the backside once it was presented by forcing the first shot away; if it failed to connect then Quartz was now presenting his right side to the wolf and thus in an aggressive attacking position.

Dak was impressed by Quartz's quick counter. The lilac combatant had had some speed when they met that time ago, but now his reaction time was something to be hailed.

The blades met with a resounding scream, sending a burst of sparks into the already electrified air. The special effects sent the crowd into a booming cheer, as if they hadn't been charged already.

As Quartz had planned, Dak veered the wrong way, but he was quick to spin around and face Daikatana, conveniently catching its owner raising a foot to kick. He hopped out of the way, crossing his arms in front of him. and lunged back at the echidna making to wide horizontal slashes.

Didn't see that coming, Quartz blinked as Dak span around.

Not wanting to gift him momentum? He'd just handed it to Dakoter on a smegging plate!
Dak had obviously anticipated his counter-strike, manoeuvring away in the form of a spin - whilst spinning he folded his arms to block the foot once the wolf was pointing in the correct direction.
Quickly deflecting the foot, it knocked Quartz off-balance; the lilac one flailed wildly as he fell backwards onto the ground, feet flopping about until striking the ground.

He felt a stinging sensation in his left foot, but had no time to worry about that. Dakoter was on a charge and he needed to strike back immediately.

A shame that Quartz hadn't noticed what happened, as one of the katars struck his foot as it flew through the air... it sliced cleanly through, separating the steel toe-capped part of the boot from the rest of it - and the toes contained within.
As it was such a sharp blade it didn't snag once, hence the echidna feeling nothing more than a sting... for now.
Whilst he was on the floor, he grabbed a small handful of gravel...

And now Quartz had risen to his feet, he found himself massively out of balance and feeling a large amount of pain in the afore-mentioned sliced foot.
No time to look, the echidna forcefully told himself as he lined up his next attack. Dakoter had made a smart move; he'd attacked in such a way that he was now left in a strong defensive position, able to counter a lot of moves.

Apart from the dust. Which he threw towards the wolf as soon as he was upright.
Of course, there was a very good chance that the wolf knew this was coming, but there wasn't a lot else he could do right now...

[OO;; okay~ I guess my wording was wrong, but Dak -dodged- the kick and slashed at Quartz again; you can take out that foot injury/massacre if you want. XD. I'll edit this post, too. Of course, I dunno which would be a worse injury.]

As Quartz was knocked back by the attack, Dak's focus broke. The toe of the echidna's boot had been sheared right off, and it didn't look like he had missed the flesh within it. The wolf shivered and shook his head; he'd have to take it easy, and that was enough of a debilitating injury, for now.

His a thin line of crimson trailed down the lower edges of his katar, and Dak threw the blood off with flicks of his wrists. He sheathed the folding katar, Smiles, but kept the straight blade on hand. He turned to Quartz, who didn't appear to have noticed his own injury. The echidna stumbled do his feet, balanced, and aimed a punch at his opponent.

Dak blocked accordingly, only to realize the guy had thrown dust, not a fist. If he hadn't blocked, he really would have been screwed, but his arms at least kept some of the dirt from reaching his eyes.

A sharp yelp confirmed that the wolf had gotten a handful of grime thrown right into his golden eyes, and he stumbled back, dropping his katar and rubbing at his face. A deep snarl followed soon after.

So the guy wanted to play dirty, huh? Forget it; he wasn't holding back on him, now.

... As soon as he could see, at least. he may have been temporarily blinded, but his ears were still perfectly trained on the echidna's every move. Even the flutter and rustle of his extravagant attire would not escape the wolf's delicate sonars.

The horizontal slashes are what caught Q out, read your own posts properly sensei =P]

Quick as a flash - at point blank range - Quartz drew Llorena with his left hand and fired the one shot before releasing his grip upon the ageing sniper rifle - sure, it was useless at anything other than a decent range, but at point blank when the wolf was blind? Even with his 'off' hand, he'd have great difficulty in missing with such an opportunity.
Sure, he'd need to clear the chamber once the shot was fired by freeing up his right hand somehow, but for now the one hand was all he needed to shoot to kill.

As it was his off-hand, there was no telling how badly he'd aimed - the gun was pointed toward Dakoter's midsection but knowing the rules of physics and generally being able to perform such tasks, Quartz had a chance - even if it were bigger than normal - of missing his target. As he was drawing and firing all at once, chances were he could pull that trigger(without realising) at knee-level or slightly better, stomach level.

And if anyone were to take a shot to the stomach it wouldn't matter who they were... they'd go down within thirty seconds and die within five minutes.

[=P Statement retracted. Jerk <3]

Dak's ears picked up the light sound of Llorena slipping off Quartz's back. He didn't recognize the sound, but he did know that Quartz was making a move.

He's a rat.

It was instinct alone that made the wolf jump at the first rustle. As usual, he shot backwards and to the side, this time blindly, out of range of any frontal attacks; he only hoped his opponent wasn't making a move with his sword.

Well, his prayers were answered, but a sword attack would have been a blessing once compared to a snipe. The bullet tore through the air as its target banked to the left; however, the former was much too quick for the latter, even with Dak reacting as Quartz drew the gun; hot metal gouged a deep wound across the wolf's stomach, and Dak skid to a halt, frozen in place as the shock caught up with him. Soon enough, he looked down, watching as his shirt darkened to a deep crimson, then rolled his eyes toward the echidna, gun still raised.

Oh, he's a dirty rat.

A guttural snarl rumbled out from behind the wolf's gnashed fangs. The nonchalant demeanor that had sat on the canine's features had been erased, leaving behind a most rabid appearance. His mane was fully raised, as was the rest of the fur on his body, and his eyes beamed with the Chaotic energy he had neglected since the start of the battle.

He didn't know why he was so mad. Maybe it was because the guy was such a low fighter. Maybe it was because the dirt really stung his eyes. Maybe, he really liked the still-bloodying shirt he had on. Whatever the reason, Dak launched at the echidna, back in his feral form, pouring on the speed. He wasn't far from the guy in the first place, and he closed that distance with the quickness. He was well aware of the Daikatana, which is why he wouldn't make contact. Instead, he neared Quartz and released a wave of energy to knock the Echidna off his 3/4 feet!

[Move: Territory]

[Yo dude, just remembering.. when did madam ever allow Dak to play fair? XD To be fair, you were trying to rescue Asher from my clutches...
*sees Avii's used a move* Oh crap. No, wait, I can get out of it now I've read what it does.]

As Quartz released Llorena and allowed the strapped weapon to slip back onto his shoulder his eyes flashed across Dak's body to see where the next move would come from.

It came quickly.

Forcefully projecting himself across the short gap, Dak burst towards him aggressively, with a faint golden glow about him.

Wait! Quartz thought, recognising this same aura as the one that Kane used previously. I know this... oh crap, Chaos??
He had no chance to react, the angered lupine halfbreed pushing him back with a forceful blast of the Chaos energies within him, almost as if a warning of what he could do.

It was nothing more than a shove - a very powerful one at that - but it was enough to force him backwards. As he was off-balance he flew a little before landing squarely on his rounded posterior and bounced a little.

Crap - is he building up to use OverDrive? he thought, panicking a little at the thought.
It was time to use his own greatest strength now, one he'd not used since Whisp in the first round.

Ramming Daikatana into the ground so it wouldn't fall over, Quartz swung about his sniper rifle - there were still four bullets in the clip, so it would only require a quick cocking action as opposed to a full reload, which would have taken time. And he didn't have much, he could see that the blast would had taken some puff out of the waggy-tailed one.

"Yoohoo, doggie poos!" Quartz called out as he took careful aim with the rifle, cocking it as he did so to put a round in the chamber. "Bet you can't fetch this!"

With that, he fired, aiming for Dak's right shoulder.

Dak hadn't stopped moving at the release of Territory; no, he continued on, if a bit slower as he recollected his energy. Quartz had landed a few feet away, and was already getting back on his foot-and-a-half; he couldn't afford to stop. As long as that Echidna still had his gun, Dak was at the disadvantage.

Gun, gun, gun, Dak thought to himself. He had to get around that weapon, somehow, else he become a trophy catch.

Quartz was up, and he had slammed his sword right into the ground.

Chaos began to build in Dak's back legs, though his speed remained constant; he didn't need to speed up; he knew the guy wasn't going to miss another opportunity to shoot again, and Dak was readying for it!

He reached for his gun, and Dak buckled down, a wave of pain surging from his stomach and reminding him of his opponent's last shot. His eyes were trained on the Echidna's tell-tale arms as he raised the barrel. All he needed was a twitch...

"Yoohoo, doggie poos!" Quartz called out as he took careful aim with the rifle, cocking it as he did so to put a round in the chamber. "Bet you can't fetch this!"

As soon as Quartz's muscles contracted and jerked his arm into pulling the trigger, Dak launched. The Chaos in his hindlegs pushed them with even more force, and he shot into the air, just as the bullet shot from the barrel; in fact, both moves let out simultaneous booms which echoed around the suspense- and awe-silenced arena.

The bullet flew under the airborne wolf, clipping a bit of tail fur; Dak had effectively and literally jumped the gun. He landed with a loud clack as his claws hit the ground. He was only feet from the Echidna, and the moment he touched down did he jump back up, lunging at the lilac gunman to maul him.

The eye saw the opportunity and sent the message to the nerve synapses at the back.
Those synapses sent an electrical charge to the brain.
It translated the signal and commanded the finger to pull the trigger on the gun.

The electrical pulse went flying again, down nerves and travelling along muscular mass until it reached its destination.
It told the muscle in the finger to contract; to squeeze the trigger it was touching.

All around Quartz's body this was happening, brain bracing body for recoil of gun once finger retracted trigger into main gun chassis. This happened in all living beings, and in Quartz this was no exception. And of course it all usually happened in an instant.

So when Quartz pulled that trigger his arm tensed up; his breathing steadied and his aim was good.

However he was sitting on the floor, legs out flat - the brain hadn't bothered to tell them to brace for an imminent jolt to the body. He was pushed backwards as the shot expelled itself forwards, the recoil having no way of being stopped by the body as the legs just weren't in a position to stop him.

As he flew backwards and landed in the dirt once more, he saw a larger-than-life wolf jumping over him.
He's using Chaos again? Quartz exclaimed mentally. Clearly Dakoter hadn't stood still during the last couple of years; he'd improved too. Recharging the chaos energies to his will so quickly...

It just means that his life force will drain significantly quicker than my own, he realised as he allowed the rifle to drop down once more by his side. He rolled over and kicked the sword on its flat edge, knocking it to the ground.

As he reached over towards it to pick it up, Dakoter hadn't paused at all. He'd launched himself back at the echidna with a passion.
Panicking, Quartz quickly brought the sword back to his side - tip pointed at the feral one, with the aim being for Dak to land on it!

In the time it took to grab his sword, Quartz had let Dak clear most of the distance needed to sink his fangs and teeth into the echidna.

His pupils had shrunken, leaving much larger, shining, golden rings in his eyes. The glare was bright enough to burn eyes if stared into long enough, but through them, Dak could see perfectly fine. As he spun around to launch back at his opponent, he caught him reaching for the sword, lunging at him paws first and confidently.

By the time Quartz raised his sword, a pair of paws would swap it back down to the ground. The wolf essentially stood on the blade, potentially bending it, while the rest of him continued forward, teeth first.

Carried by momentum and absent paws to land with, he was no longer in much control of his lunge; he'd either bite Quartz on the neck or shoulder, or he tumble right onto him. If the former occurred, he wouldn't stop at just a bite; Dak would shake the guy like the plushie from earlier.
