I don't know how many of you on here are coders (except for a small few) but I reckon that we should have a subforum under Museum of the Arts dedicated to posting up projects, source code (enclosed within 'code' tags of course) and in conjunction with =SB= University, tutorials and resources to rope in newbie programmers.

I have no objections. Actually, would it be a good idea to merge it into the Enthusiast Games project? You could call it the Software Development board or something. Edited by Gale, Nov 14 2008, 01:24 PM.

The thing is, programming isn't just for games. It in a way is an art form. |

I never said it was, however, programming is usually for software development, except website development. Games are also a type of software. I just don't think programming is enough to warrant its own section, but it has nowhere else to go so it could be added to the function of another forum. |

Gale is right in that programming is such a small niche for our members that it doesn't really warrant its own section. However, I don't see why we couldn't reform the Enthusiast's Games section to encompass all forms of programming instead of that specifically tailored to game design. |

I know how to code. Unfortunately, people don't give me this opportunity. |

Enthusiast Programming?! I could see merging the fan game section into an all out fan programming section that includes games and all other types of programming, but programming having its own section is out of the question. It's like me adding a forum exclusive to discussion about Muscle Cars. Yeah maybe one or two people would actually join in on the discussion, but it would be a waste of space as most people here aren't interested in it. Too many new forums fall under this thinking. The thinking, "Add anything and everything for specific forums and hopefully someone will post there" which just ends up with lots of dead sections to their forum, but making the fan game section into a general programming section could work. |

xD Uh, this is exactly what I was talking about, Metallix. I specifically suggested "reforming the section to encompass all forms of programming," ie. give the existing section some leeway on what kind of programming it can include. I never said we should make a new section altogether. |

I know, I was agreeing with you. My post was mainly addressing the issue of why it wouldn't be a good idea for Cy-Fox.
