The barren icescape now having melted away sufficiently and the results in, the three judges were happy that the tournament was progressing with at least a degree of success. But now it was time to take things up to another level, another stage. For now, the combatants were about to enter the final, crucial stages - the semi finals. Team Swift Claw, ready to jump in and bite and claw their way to victory. Team GFX - resourceful, and a good pair of friends co-operating fully. Team Metal Knights, making full use of any surroundings and each other to get as far as they have. And finally TF and Serenity, a pairing that had done very little to get this far and would be very fresh for the upcoming battles. "So, master Architect, what are your plans for the next stage?" the dark robed one known as the Master of Darkness asked, still cowering behind the dragon after his previous comments. The dragon's tail twitched slightly; at first it was amusing but now the man's cowardice was beginning to bore him. He'd have to impale him on one of his long talons if this kept up. The Architect looked over the landscape - everything was still bubbling away in the lake like a giant jacuzzi, and the surrounding snowfields had all but melted, revealing a mass of trees. Dead, having been exposed to the extreme chill for too long. Exposed, having not borne vegetation for some years now. The wildlife was non-existent and the soil was smoother than a baby's backside. "I'm thinking," the human said slyly, "that this area is actually suitable to go again. But I think I'd better put my own spin on things, y'know? Make things a bit different." As the Master nodded in agreement, the dragon looked away and snorted. He had no objections. The Architect then waved his right hand a little, in a rough circle to his side. His fingers danced in random patterns as they gathered magical energy from the surrounding habitat. Rather than the previous angry fires that he struggled to conjure, this was a greener, more natural colour he was pulling out of thin air. Gently, he allowed his arm to flow towards the landscape beneath them and flicked his fingers to allow the green magic to flow freely. The green aura sparkled as it streamed downwards into the lake. It flew through the waters silently and came into contact with the large fireballs, which also turned green. Now the previous jacuzzi effect was replaced with a burst of green light, illuminating the purified water with a gentle glow of nature. "Hold onto your wigs, fellas. This is gonna be fun." Almost immediately, the ground shook in a most fierce fashion, an earthquake of a most horrendous magnitude. The crowds below were protected by the bubble that still surrounded them; protected them from all outside elements. But the cave beneath their stands began to crumble a bit as it raised up at the back. From within the cave, an underwater river burst out and flooded the cave, pouring into the lake. The lake meanwhile, was getting decidedly narrower and narrower - finally reaching the point where it became a river. Clicking his fingers a couple of times, a couple of rope bridges appeared at various places. The Architect of the tournament still wasn't satisfied. "So we have a river... aha, I know what's missing." He wiggled his little finger in his ear, then sneezed. The previously dead trees suddenly blossomed into life, and yet more trees burst forth from the previous waste land, each growing tall to block out the light from the now raging sun. Vines grew up and around many trees, and bushes and other plantlife sprang up. It also seemed that the trees themselves were much denser than usual... A final click of the fingers and various wifelife appeared - poison frogs, crickets, monkeys... "Behold, my fellow tournament officials. I have turned your horrible iceland into a beautiful tropical paradise!" The Master took a look over the balcony, down towards the ground. All he could see were treetops, and the hint of the river twisting its way through the vast jungle. "And so how do you propose to see how everyone is fighting, huh Captain Dipshit?" he asked, trying to restrain his mocking. "Unless you've got X-Ray vision, then you're not going to see jack. A good job I'm not judging let ME tell you." Funnily enough, we do. For sure you are not judging, because it is clearly much effort to be setting the scene, no? We would not be wishing to make you do more work than you are doing currently, haha. "Get out of my head DF, and shut up." "Oh no, the big blue one has a good point," laughed the Architect, adjusting his tuxedo to cater for the new heat levels and humidity that had now appeared. "We wouldn't want you to work too hard." "But... I..." the Master realised he was beat. He had no witty comeback. His eyes then flickered red as an evil thought entered his head. "I **Bleep**ed your momma GOOOOOOOD." A click of the fingers, and the Architect chuckled. For growing on the Master's coat was a large variety of plantlife - mostly flowers in full bloom. The black-robed one, realising what had happened, was silent. He instead walked away slowly - most likely to remove the offending items. That was mean, the dragon said with a hint of happiness in his voice. You be doing that more often now won't you? He held out a paw, which the human high-fived. "Dude, anything to piss off that douche-bag." He then returned his attentions to the battlefield. "The scene is set - a horrible, hot and sticky jungle! Visibility will be an issue for you I'd imagine, so try not to trip up on any roots or dead branches that may be lying around. I call forth to the arena now Team Metal Knights, and Jet Prower and Karin Syoko - and may the best team go forth to the grand final, and a chance to win the ultimate prize!" EDITED FOR A GRAMMAR ERROR AND ADDED A BIT EXTRA DESCRIPTION. The Tournament Semifinals at last. There was a heady anticipation in the air, a giddy sensation that unsettled the nerves and set the butterflies stirring deep in the gut. Auriel accepted all of this as a necessary element to be endured, and strode forth through the arena doors with confidence gripping his heart. His newly polished armor and armaments shone brightly as he left the shadows, and it was as though a small star had descended the heavens to grace the arena below. Ever present, Color Sergeant Samuel Belouisson marched proudly in front of Auriel in full combat gear, holding aloft his Herald's Banner in both hands. Auriel glanced around at the altered arena before him, and chuckled. "They certainly do like changing the scenery." "Aye, Milord. Methinks the arena is at present too crowded for a proper announcement; it's best we make our way to the Judge's Balcony." "Sounds good," Auriel agreed. "Lead the way." "Milord." Bounding ahead, Samuel took the steps up to the Judge's Balcony two at a time, the Herald's Banner dancing in the air as he went. Making for the Balcony's edge, Samuel politely edged his way past the large blue dragon, who folded his wing tighter to avoid being clipped by the fluttering standard. Jumping onto the railing, he waved the banner to and fro in both hands. "Give a good cheer for the Metal Knights!" The crowd gathered in the stands below stood up and gave Auriel a thunderous ovation. Shield in hand, Auriel absorbed the acclimation eagerly as he stepped onto the Balcony. The wary hesitation and unfamiliarity of the events transpiring around him, that had been with him since before the first match was all but gone now. Tilting back his head, Auriel closed his eyes and basked in the crowd's appraisal. Presently, he banged his free hand against his leg plate, signaling Samuel forward."Do it," he commanded. "Milord." Samuel held up hand for silence and the noise of the crowd died down. "My Lords and Ladies, and fair, wise Judges," he began, bowing once to the crowd gathered on the seats below him, and again to the Judges behind him on the Balcony. "I missed my introduction last time, and as I dearly hope you had not missed me, I humbly ask your forgiveness." Once again, he bowed low to the crowd, and they clapped enthusiastically in response. Standing straight once more, Samuel continued. "It's been a long, hard road, but here he stands as a testament to his skill at arms. The first match bore witness as the team of Absolute Destruction proved to be nothing more than a transparent threat and an even more immaterial show of fighting skill. Next, the second match yet again demonstrated the superior might of the Metal Knights, as a Knight of the East and a Knight of the West did battle against each other. The fight was closely matched... too closely matched I must admit, but the Judges knew who they would declare as the rightful winner. And now, I gladly give to you, The Last Royal Knight of the Amagan Empire! The Protector and Guardian of the House of Acorn's heritage! The second son of Steppenwolf, Guardian of Angel Island! Sirrrrrr Aurrrrrriellll!" The crowd's acclimation was more thunderous than before and as they clapped and stamped their feet on the floor, they began chanting endlessly, "Auriel! Auriel! Auriel! Auriel!" Samuel stepped off the railing and backwards, letting Auriel step forward into full view. As they cheered, he reached up over his shoulder, and detached his sword from the notch on his back. Holding it aloft, the blue-white blade shone clear and true in the light. Raising his shield arm, he motioned for silence, and eventually the crowd ceased their clamour to listen. "Today is a special match indeed, for as I do battle with my opponents, I call out my challenge to them as well." Auriel saluted in Karin's direction and called out, "I beg your pardon, miss, but you had best step back and wait your turn. It's not you I face today." Auriel motioned with his sword in the direction of the double doors to his right, the gleaming blade shining as it pointed past Karin to the doors beyond. "Jet! Jet Prower, hear me! I am Auriel, son of Steppenwolf, son of Edmund, and today I call out for you! I mark you as the best your team has to offer, and it is I you face in the battlefield below me. Face me in battle or I mark you an amateur and a coward! Let our swords be crossed as we struggle for the crowd's delight, and it is I who will prove the stronger! Your enemy is here, Jet Prower, and my victory is at hand!" The crowd cheered once more, eager to see what appeared to be a personal vendetta between Auriel and Jet. Stepping up onto the railing, Auriel jumped down to the arena below. As he landed, he bent his legs and the impact drove his feet a few centimeters into the ground. Standing back up to his full height, he began striding through the river in the direction of the double doors that he knew Jet would inevitably walk through. Upon hearing all this, the Master faked a yawn. "Y'could, like, get on with the fighting guys. We've got a booking for this balcony at 5pm; I believe DF is torturing Status Quo for their crimes against music..." A snort through the dragon's nostrils confirmed this, DragonFlame clearly unhappy with the group. "And you don't want an angry judge, no sir...." he trailed off as he folded his arms and walked away with a slight cockiness in his step. Edited by Master of Darkness™, Oct 22 2008, 09:34 AM.

As per the last match, his schedule is probably looking the same as it was previously so he'll only be able to post on certain days during the week. today he said that the computers in his house are being occupied, he'll make his intro post when he can. just to clear up any problem with timing and such.)) (my goodness that was alot of text) Jet was heading up the stares towards the entrance his partner had just recently gone out when he heard someone calling his name. It was sounding very stern and strong, yet how this old fashion accent to the person's voice. That was something you didn't hear every day. It sounded like they were from a few generations ago really from the way the call sounded towards him. Jet heard how he was just called out, very loudly, for the entire crowd to hear. Who was Jet to disappoint someone that seemed to want fight him so much. He wouldn't dare turn down a direct challenge, since he rarely has ever been asked to come fight so formally before. Most of the time, people just attack for no reason or throw a punch at you without warning and play dirty alot of the time, but this guy sounded different. As Jet made his way out of the door and out into the arena, he immediately notices the drastic change in environment that he is in now. "Well, a forest setting, this will work to my advantage. I was trained in the forest and near one, so I know how to maneuver very well through the trees, plus my natural green color will help me blend in, if it becomes necessary to do so." says Jet very low and more to himself, as he didn't want to announce every word he had to say to the entire world. That's when Jet sees his opponent on the opposite side of the arena already starting to head in his direction, which was a surprise to him as well. His opponent was making his way over towards him, and didn't look like he was being that aggressive towards him at all. Yet, there was this very controlled and more honest look about this guy, unlike others he had had to fight in the past. This was very strange to Jet indeed, but if this guy wanted to walk over, he was going to allow it, as he seemed to be trustable and not one to stab him in the back like some of the other contestants had looked to him. Jet though does take a look over to Karin before he goes to confront the opponent he seemed to be up against. "Karin, apparently he wants to fight me first as it sounds, so I think it would be best to do so. So would you mind sitting back for now and let me take on his challenge? As soon as you are needed, you will come in, but I think it might be rude to not take on this guy myself first, since he seems to want it." says Jet directly to her, but continues to just stand there as his eyes go back towards his opponent. Jet was now just going to wait for his opponent to make his way over to him. Unless it was a requirement for him to go over to this person, Jet was going to let his opponent come to him instead. The wind was there only slightly, but not much at the moment. Jet's shirt and pants stuck to him, and didn't flow at all, like they might if the wind were blowing. He just keeps one hand at his side, and the other resting on the hilt of his sword sheath, since he didn't know when he would need to use it. He was ready and just wanted to see what was going to happen next. |

Karin glared at the opponent insulted that she felt like she was invisible as if she wasn't a challenge and rolled her eyes and stayed calm and huffed. She looked at Jet and sighed,"what ever you want I'm pretty useless in this environment the ice will melt in this heat and I don't have any weapons that can stand this heat my Kunai and shurikins that's about it." she said. "Do what you want its lot like I never got to fight at all." she said waiting to see the other opponent show up to see if it be a challenge. |

[[Edited for spelling and grammer. DO NOT KILL MEH!!]] The humid climate of the new battlefield was troubling for the Cataclysm party, as they entered through a double door onto the leave-strewn floor of the arena. Harmonix was immediately engaged with an army of flies that began to aerial bomb him, despite his attempts to blast them with his gun. Rigel's liquid arm was soon covered with a variety of insects that used the cool water as an escape from the hot air. Only SCMH was unaffected. The metal exterior rebuffed the insects, and none felt courageous enough to try and annoy the robot directly. As the robot viewed the new arena with his optics, his neural computer experienced a sense of what could be considered excitement. This new battlefield proposed plenty of cover from attacks, and he would be easily able to dodge between the trees and elude the enemy's sight. This would probably be an easier match than the last one. "First a refrigerator, now a rainforest. Whoever is running this tournament sure has a mind for pain and misery when it comes to designing arenas." Harmonix complained bitterly. 'It's not like he's meant to be making it worse for the rest of us, is he?' Rigel gave his companion a glaring look. "Can it. Be thankful you're not actually fighting in this insect-infested cesspool. Though I doubt there's a pool for miles around, least of all one with cess in it." "Both of you, quiet." The robot uttered, to which the two instantly shut up. "I don't ask you to come with me into the arena, so don't complain if you do. To be fair, I am looking forward to fighting in this match. I feel that there was an...unfair outcome in the previous match. I do not know why it went unnoticed until it was too late, but it still happened. I now want to show that there is no doubt of my power and abilities." "What?" Harmonix scratched an ear. "Unfair outcome?" "Yes." SCMH looked up to the sky, as if talking to someone else. "They know who they are, and they know that I will come for them if they so much as do something like that again. If they cannot abide by the rules, then they will surely perish." Harmonix shot an anxious glance at Rigel, who shrugged. "Well, we'd better make our way to the spectator box. Don't wanna keep the fighters waiting." SCMH continued to fix his gaze at the sky, before saying "Yes, lets." and following his comrades out of the arena. They made their way to the spectator box, where they observed the beginning of the match. (Yes, this is a dig at all those who ignored the existence of my character and posting in the last match. You know who you are.) Edited by SuperCyberMetalHyper, Oct 25 2008, 09:44 AM.

((Alright, going off the assumption that the arena is still 100 feet - 30.4 meters - in diameter as was first measured, the river can't be all that large (or deep), nor can the foliage be too dense or it would be all but impossible to fight except in the water, which does not connect the arena doors to the east or west.)) The fast moving stream gurgled and splashed underfoot as Auriel strode through it, unimpeded, to the other side of the riverbank. The water had carved into the sides of the riverbank, leaving the actual ground level at least a foot above the water level. Auriel stepped up onto the riverbank and began to trace the edge of the riverbank, looking for a clear line of approach. He eventually came to one, or as close as he could find. The path he chose meandered slightly, and he would have to strafe through the trees and overgrowth to get at his target, but there he was, lime green fur contrasting heavily with the blue shirt he wore. Jet's hand rested on his sheath, clear indication of the fox's inexperience in the realm of combat... perhaps. Auriel had heard of swordsmen who prefered to turn the act of unsheathing their weapon into a slashing attack, and while it did add an element of surprise, the move relied more on brute strength to force the sword clear of the sheath, while being swung around with enough force to damage the target. Judging from Jet's spare frame, Auriel judged that he would barely feel the sword bouncing off his armor. Jet finally stepped into the arena, and Auriel raised up his sword, touching his helmet with the handguard in salutation. Though muffled, his voice rang out loud and clear. "I dedicate this match to Aurora, Goddess of the Dawn! Engarde!" Crouching down, Auriel launched himself into a charge, and began barreling down the uneven pathway toward Jet. Plant leaves were brushed aside and myriad animals scattered in his wake. In the seconds before he came within sword reach, Auriel raised his sword high, as if to strike from high. As before, Auriel expected his opponent to misread the move, expecting the sword to strike down from above and from his left. Whatever technique Jet had planned as his sword was sheathed was irrelevant, because the attack was much more than it seemed. Auriel's hands itched for hand-to-hand combat; he had no intention of letting Jet regroup to a safe distance. (( Auriel has begun to charge forward, strafing to the left side of Jet (Auriel's left, Jet's right), bringing up his sword to strike from high as soon as he is in range. This attack is also a feint. Even though it looks like he will strike from high, he is in fact going to whip his sword around in a reverse C-shaped motion in order to strike at Jet's legs from below, with a possible bonus of attempting to overpower any quick-draw maneuver Jet might attempt. Given that Jet is not familiar with Auriel's combat style, it will be extremely difficult to read the feint, much less move to counter it. After the attack, Auriel will be in arm's reach. Jet will not be able to dodge far without Auriel keeping up. )) |

Jet just continued to stand there with his hand on his sword as he watched Auriel make his way towards him and yell something to the sky. He only caught some of it, but from the sounds of it, it was something to the god Aurora, which he knew was the echidna's god of life. Jet has done his homework on the echidna's and has learned all this through time of study he used to do in the local library in his area. When Jet saw him suddenly start to charge him after yelling Engarde, he knew what he had to do. From the looks of Auriel's sword at the moment looked to Jet he was going to strike high, so he was just going to have to be higher. Jet didn't think he could possibly overpower this opponent, as he looked too strong to take on head on, but maybe he could outsmart and outmaneuver him though. Jet bent his knees suddenly, his hands glowing slightly as he throws two small, weak bursts of green energy out of his hands into the air as he then jumps mega high up into the air. Those little wind bursts he gave, gave him a wondrously high jumping ability, but once he reached the peak of his jump, Jet just seems to stay there and hover up in mid air as he grins down at his opponent. "Well, that wasn't so difficult to read, you will have to try a bit harder to fool me. Now, let's see how you handle a pretty sly moving target." says Jet grinning down at the ground as he stays flying there in the air, at about the trees level. |

The distance between the two combatants closed dramatically, and as Auriel raised his sword, Jet made no move to counter. As time expanded, Auriel furrowed his brow in slight confusion. 'What is he waiting for...?' In the final seconds, Auriel abruptly reversed his movement and began to arc the sword back and down, creating the motion which would bring his sword to strike against Jet's legs... and still Jet made no movement to bring his own sword to bear. It was far too late to stop the movement, his muscles on reflex, and in his growing panic Auriel began to plead silently, 'Dodge it, dodge it, dodge it dodge it dodge-it-dodge-it-dodge-it--' In a movement just as abrupt, Jet bent his knees as his hands thrust out below him. Harnessed Chaos energy gave birth to wind elemental magicks, and he jumped into the air, the concentrated Wind element boosting him aloft over the treetops, pushing aside wayward branches in his wake with a gust of wind. An instant later, Auriel's sword passed through the space where Jet's legs had been. Pulling back his sword in surprise, Auriel turned around and glanced upward at Jet as he sailed between the branches of the trees. After staring at him for a moment, Auriel recovered his composure, resting his shield hand on his hip. "Clever! Very clever, boy! I tell you, your ability to face your opponent is... awe-inspiring." The sarcasm dripping from Auriel's words left no mistake as to how much awe he thought Jet inspired. Concluding that the match would quicly end in a stalemate in this state, Auriel quickly settled on a course of action. He shook his arm free of his scutum shield and tugged at the strap on his shoulder plate connecting his shield to his armor. Drawing it tight against his back and securing the strap against the notch on the front of his shoulder plate, he began to chant in a low murmur. With his empty shield hand, he began to wave it about, his fingers tracing invisible symbols into the air. The Elemental Lore of Wind he claimed as one of his talents, but before Round One had even begun, Auriel had promised the judge known as MoD that he would limit himself only to the command of the Water and Earth Elemental Lores. However, the rules as it stood did not limit his knowledge thereof, and in his mind's eye he saw the surging energy that gave rise to Jet's sorcery. Even though he could not outright use his Wind Elemental Lore, his knowledge of it would more than suffice for this next crucial task. Auriel's voice rose gradually, his hand coming to a halt in midair, fingers stiff and forming an arcane shape. Not needed for the moment, his sword arm hung slack, the sword within it resting its blue-white blade against the green and brown earth. The words he spoke rang out clear and true: Seven-fold power, foundation of all things, Shaped by the Walkers, from Chaos Manifest, Throw off thy false garments and reveal thy true form. All about him, the sounds of nature died away into an unnatural silence. Even the very breeze which had flowed languidly through the tropical arena seemed to hesitate and grow still. Auriel's hand began to glow ever so slightly, the illumination revealing the ebb and flow of energy currents, similar to that seen in the vast ocean. Blessed Aurora, I entreat thee, for your light endures forever. Still the world's holy breath, for your light endures forever. Bring the power to answer me, for your light endures forever. Feel my hand upon the winds, for your light endures forever. Chain the tempest and the howling, for your light endures forever. Bend them all to serve my will, for your light endures forever. The translucent and ethereal currents flowing about his hands abruptly changed their motion, and began swirling about it like a whirlpool. The breeze, hanging in the air almost in anticipation of Auriel's command, ceased entirely and abruptly. The wind bursts sustaining Jet's flight through the air began to shatter piecemeal as the energy sustaining them were ripped asunder. Feeling the energy beginning to coil about his hand ever more strongly, Auriel smiled as he repeated his mantra: Blessed Aurora, I entreat thee... ((Auriel has begun casting a effect which drains away the Chaos energy inherent in elemental magic; this effectively increases the difficulty of any spell cast in the vicinity, and forces any magic-using wielder to exert twice as much energy to cast any spell to his knowledge. Any effect with a duration cast while Auriel's effect is active must be maintained accordingly or they will immediately weaken and fade as soon as they are completed. This is an 'extended cast' effect so Auriel must continue chanting, and he must keep his fingers in the same position.)) |
