I still can't use this.

I've already said I don't condone excessive greed from companies big or small, but that still doesn't excuse the defendants' actions. And while we're on the case of big companies' overall moral grounding, in the Immersion case Microsoft is demanding some of the cut they won from the case basically to get out of another lawsuit and further line their pockets.

Again, in terms of morality, this is a two-way street. Why should the big companies get away with stealing patents just because you feel that the patent owners themselves are (somehow) greedier than than they are?

And you're wrong on a few parts about the Blu-Ray case. They're suing for multi-layered disks, not for the blue light used. Also, I have the part of the patent they sued about right here, and it was filed in 1993, not 1930.

That is one case there have been different suits against Blu Ray, and I also mentioned the layer thing. I may have been false about the 1930 date, but I know it was way before they had that technology or something...

Anyhow, I didn't say the big companies were guilt free. They should probably do more patent research when making new technology, however the little companies are despicable and I think they should be destroyed. Little money grubbing punks waiting until their technology is widespread to make all the money they can. Just sue when they start infringing on your patent and let them create different technology with the same result...

While I think you're being a bit too hyperbolic about the whole situation, I'm not going to try and necessarily change your feelings. Personally, I stand by the notion that all companies, big or small, are greedy to some extent. That's an arguable foundation of business.

Well, the Wii is cool, but I can tell you it is nowhere near the best gaming idea...I'd rather button mash and not have to worry about synching controllers...

Don't defy me or I will beat you senseless with a sack of doorknobs!
If they were to stop making the Wii they would also stop making the games, so there is no point in getting a Wii now.

I've heard of this stuff with the Wii before, it's a mega old issue from a few years ago. These people are just greedy little companies that want big companies money because their just a bunch of greedy dishonest people. This is the USA where people can be greedy and dishonest all they want unlike in japan.
I'm a gamer and always will be a gamer. If you don't believe me. I have 430 Video Games and 19 Consoles.

I doubt you could beat that unless you are a gamer as well! =P

So, let's see if you can outdo "The Jet Gamer"

I don't think they will stop the production of the Wii. Small chance, a very, very, small one.

So a company that makes a motion sensitive ring looking thing sues a company that makes a motion sensitive nunchuk looking thing? Then goes further to sue them for making a classic style controller of their old game controller and the GC controller.

I like the logic there. Seriously, the things people do for money.
It's like those people who sue fast food restaurants because they decided to eat it for a year and become fat, then turn around and say they didn't know it would make them fat because there's no labelling.

So, what about the other consoles? I mean hell, one of the other guys is making a Wii clone, better sue them too.

Gotta love patent trolls.
This is why big companies need to remember to patent their ideas specifically. Such broad and vague patents as "multi-layered discs" and "motion controllers" or whatever, are probably intentionally made by patent trolls to trip bigger companies up and get some of their money.

I believe in a creator having full rights over their work unless they say otherwise, but these people don't even intend to make anything but money from frivolous lawsuits over gambles they made that just happened to work in their favour. No doubt the company that owns the "multi-layered discs" patent would've jumped on the biggest HD-DVD-utilising company, once they'd started raking the money in, had HD-DVD been successful over Blu-Ray.

nintendo will just be miserable as they negociate with the company over how much money they want.
