Really? I guess i never noticed his warn level. That's clearly a SpamHammer topic. So sad that people got dragged into this.
You won't because the only warn levels normal members can see is their own - you won't have seen SOTI's warn because you don't have permission, quite simply.

And I've made no secret of my dislike for SOYA. I'm damn glad he's gone at last. I'll change it eventually, but for now it's staying right where it is.

 I kind of had that question as Gale up above. I noticed SOTI was deleted instead of banned as well. Can you explain even for me?
I'm a gamer and always will be a gamer. If you don't believe me. I have 430 Video Games and 19 Consoles.

I doubt you could beat that unless you are a gamer as well! =P

 I'm guessing Cy deleted him instead of banning him, which doesn't make much sense at all.

We will have to wait and hear what he has to say on this then.

That's pretty disrespectful, maybe you should get banned?
That doesn't happen when you're talking about Banned members. Or else we would ALL get banned for having flamed at Princess Sonia. XP

I want to ask some questions.
  • Does criticising other forums actually count as invading?
  • Even if he did invade, he never actually made a topic on this website declaring war - only a small amount of criticism. TSF is its own forum. What occurs there stays there. Should Sonic Blast intervene in their problem, as a third party?
  • Slightly off topic - I can't find any evidence of SOTI invading TSF. I'm not showing mistrust, but I do feel slightly left in the dark. I would quite like to judge for myself if this punishment was righteous. The topic on Sonic Blast only displayed criticism. Even if this is called flaming, this still means that he was banned for the wrong reason, and this should be corrected if it is incorrect.
  • Again, slightly off topic - why has SOTI been deleted instead of simply banned? It seems pointless and it's a nuisance when I'm reading back on old topics. I know there's not much you can do now, since there's no going back, but even so...

 SOTI did deserve to be banned, but not for invading the forum. Considering he didn't even really invade it. But, for numerous other reasons. Although deleting him? That's incredibly harsh. I don't think he deserved to be deleted. Metallix makes an excellent point as well. One of the staff who have something to do with that, care to enlighten us? I mean, sure he was an ass at times, but I actually got to know him and he wasn't THAT bad.
My new RP! =D Come on and join up it's been so long! >.<

Then you should be.

6.2 Flaming (Insulting others)
"Please respect all of the other SB members."

Banned members are still members.



Also, Gale's questions still haven't been answered.

I still can't use this.

 I wasn't the one who banned SOTI over the incident and was rather left out of the decision to axe him, so I've been leaving these questions alone. However, someone needs to answer them. Leaving them as such makes us look like we're ducking and unable to face a potential mistake, eh?

Of course not, but in equal defense of Miles' decision, SOTI's inciting of member's threats could be enough to have serious consequences. Overall, though, it must be mentioned that SOTI's made a habit of flaming and trolling on other sites. TSF was no exception as he left there with hardly any kind words to the place or a few of its members. Even SSMB made a note about his behavior. So again, while criticism in itself doesn't count as invading, we stopped letting his behavior slide hence why I locked the topic and he was, well, apparently banned.

I believe that if some of our members were to ever get involved and start trouble at another site, then they are still our responsibility. We should make it one of our duties to control members' behavior as best we can and keep good relations with other websites. Supposing that SOTI's topic did go out of control and we did naught about it, that wouldn't send a good message to anyone, would it?

Like I said before, his criticism, or more appropriately flaming, was enough to incite a few members into making threats about going over to invade. That's something that we really shouldn't take lightly. However, you have a very valid point about his banning overall. In hindsight, I didn't agree with it and the circumstances surrounding it, especially not after I went to the trouble of reducing everyone's warn levels in the first place.

Miles claims it to be habit to delete members he's banned. You should ask him about that if want to go through the rigmarole of knowing why because I don't know myself.

 That's the way I've been doing bans for all the time I've done message board security. Ban by e-mail, username, IP address and then removal of the account itself because most of the accounts I dealt with over the years ended up where if I laid back, they would try bandodging.
