He doesn't play throughout the game levels like he used to.

Are you talking about in 2D AND 3D? If so, once you get all the emeralds, you can freely play as Super Sonic in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Sonic3 and Knuckles. And in Sonic3 and Knuckles, if you get the Super Emeralds, you can be Hyper Sonic.

Lets give Sonic Shuffle a shot =P No really..if only they make the super emeralds the center ofd the game,then make the emeralds super hidden threwout the game,and when you touch them,you hafta go threw 3 stages of defeating X enemies in X amount of time per stage/round
