I was thinking about what Shadow meant when he said to Amy in Sonic Adventure 2 how he was going to keep his promise to Maria "and to you." I`m pretty sure Sega never made any official statements in regards tot his either in interviews or the games. Because there is no specific explanation, we can only guess it`s meaning. So what do you think Shadow was getting at when he said that to Amy? You've started a wildfire First off, I'd like to say that Shadow doesn't need to explain his actions, no one will care as long as he continues cutting himself. Okay, that out of the way! His promise to Maria is obvious, no one's disputing that, but promise to Amy is not only the shadowing of Maria's personality in Amy, but it's also because of an alterior motive I shall mention later. Sega didn't want to make any official statements because they either are too lazy or didn't think too much about it, also guessing is for chumps. Here's the alterior motive. Shadow hates Sonic. He might have worked with him some, but deep down he still hates the lil' blue streak. Amy likes Sonic, fair and square. So, judging by the fact that Amy likes Sonic, there's a chance (In Shadow's mind) that Sonic likes her back, therefore he has no qualms about stealing her thin little legs right out from Sonic's clutches. The alterior motive has no bearing whatsoever and was for complete lulz, because I do not believe in Sonic love triangles. Except this one: Sonic loves Tails, Tails loves Knuckles and Knuckles loves Sonic.

Anyway, about what Shadow said to Amy... he basically means that he's promised to make the people of Earth happy, and now he's making that same promise to Amy. They make an awesome couple. ^^ Shadow x Maria is the absolute most pathetic Sonic rumour I've ever heard. They WEREN'T in a relationship! They were just FRIENDS. The manual even says "Maria was like a sister to Shadow". Are brothers and sisters attracted to each other? No. ~~Unless they're American.~~ Besides, what would the kids look like? Shadow x Rouge makes sense since there is actual evidence for it and it is far less weird.
