With less than three weeks remaining till "The Dark Knight" opens on July 18, at 12:01 a.m., Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination, is finding that dozens of showtimes for the film are already sold out.

"The Dark Knight" tickets have been a hot commodity since they first went on sale on Friday, June 20 at Fandango.com. As of this morning, the film is outpacing "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", "Iron Man" and "Sex and the City" as Fandango's fastest ticket-seller of this summer.

"We are currently seeing a surge in advance ticket sales for 'The Dark Knight'," says Ted Hong, vice president of marketing for Fandango. "It makes sense that there's a rush for tickets, as it's the perfect movie to see on the big screen, as supported by our strong ticket sales for both traditional screens and the larger format in IMAX ®. We believe the film is appealing to both comic book and action fans, as well as casual moviegoers."

Anyone else looking forward to this movie? I get goose bumps everytime I see the previews! I seriously can't wait for it. I think Heath Ledger is going to be the best The Joker ever, his psychotic laugh is great. I think this will be one of the best selling movies ever, if it isn't I'm going to be quite shocked. But I'm going to try and see it on the Midnight opening or atleast on the first day of opening.

My father was... a drinker and a fiend. One night he goes off... crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn’t like that, not one bit. So, me watching he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. He turns to me and he says “WHY SO SERIOUS?”. He comes at me with the knife “why so serious?” He sticks the blade in my mouth. "Let's put a smile on that face." and... why so serious? -The Joker

Yes i have seen the official trailer on tv. But i haven't seen the latest Batman movies so i doubt this will make any difference even if i enjoy watching them when i finally get some time. At least my cousin have a big interest in Batman so he will probably see it.

It's such a shame that in Heath's quest to become the Joker for the film, that he ultimately was destroyed by the role itself. But then again that shows Heath's dedication to his roles...at a great cost.

Yeah, midnight showings usually sell out actually, I was at the ones for Spiderman 3 (Got a comic book and it sold out) and Ironman (got free popcorn and drinks and it sold out) I may be at the midnight for The Dark Knight because it definately looks worthy of a midnight showing from me!

You might wanna hurry up and get the tix, according to SuperHeroHype the tickets are selling out pretty fast. And another good thing about midnight shows: more likely their will be no little kids screaming. YAY!

I've seen alot of trailers, they keep releasing a bunch of 'em, so I decided not to watch anymore because I don't wanna know the whole story because of all the trailers.

I do think Heath Ledger will be the best Joker ever, though.

I accidentally got 12noon tix for friday, so I went down to the theater and asked them if they were going to actually have a midnight show, and they just found out right as I asked they were, so I got to exchange the tix I got for the midnight ones, thank god it all worked out XD

I seriously can't wait for this movie! x)

Is that why he killed himself? The Joker made him insane?

Hm... Or should I say, SUPER SANE. Ledger saw past the fourth wall. We're all really in a comic book. And he knew it. :C

Ledger died of a drug overdose, probably because of that. XD But it's not funny. Hopefully this movie is good.

Heath is one of the main reason I want to see this movie so bad. From what I've seen of the trailers I can tell that he did a great job. I've never been a Batman fan, I've even hated it, and the last instalment with Cristian Bale was a real dissapointment. However, Heaths screen presence and the dark, sinister vibes I'm getting are telling me that this is going to be kick arse, and if it's not, I'll be shocked.

I was kind of iffy about seeing this one simply because Batman Begins wasn't even half as good as I'd thought it would be, in my humble opinion. However, the prospect of Heath Ledger playing as The Joker is appealing to me. From the trailers and just his clever acting skills in general, I'll probably see this at some point. If only to at least honor Heath's final moments of glory. =P

Someone actually thought Batman Begins wasn't great? WOW! Most people think that's the best comic book based movie ever, I think it's a pretty good movie, but Iron Man has remained my favorite since I've seen it. But anyways, back on TDK:

The Dark Knight is going to be in 94 IMAX theaters, which is record setting, and I'm pretty positive most of the tickets for midnight/the first day are basically sold out.

I'm pretty excited to be seeing this at midnight (obviously) but it's the first midnight showing for me, so yes. xD

And it'll be great, because most little annoying kids will NOT be there! YAY.

Also: I think this poster is AWESOME.

Apparently, Christian Bale decided to keep the Batman mask. He wanted the whole suit, but he didn't have room or it. Insider(Or is it?): Bale is claustrephobic and panicked while he was in the suit, almost causing him to not take the role.

Apparently everyone who has reviewed this movie has said it deserves a Oscar, not just Ledger. The only negative reviews are coming from NY, most likely because Gotham is filmed in Chicago hahahaha.
