Meh the old thread was too big of a read. :P So I'll move on to this. Just got news that GamePro has played an early version of it! It sounds AWESOME! I can't wait to read about this new preview.

The cat is out of the bag -- the upcoming August issue of GamePro has a huge exclusive preview of the biggest game of 2008: Resistance 2. And when we say "big," we're not kidding. Resistance 2 has two separate campaign modes (we played 'em both), 60-player online multiplayer (we played it), and one hell of an 8-player cooperative mode (think Diablo meets Team Fortress 2).

There's also something else. Something we can't mention yet. A truly...colossal secret. You'll have to wait for the August issue to get full details, but you'll know it when you see it. Protip: You may want to sit down while reading this issue.

It will probably be good since its a continuation of a good game, but I don't see it as GOTY, why I don't know but it just doesn't seem to have that type of feel for me. Not that it wont contend but of the games that aren't released yet its not my first choice.

And it wouldn't be the first game that Sony has labeled a "Halo-Killer" and failed. Can you say Killzone?

It's not a Halo killer. Halo is old news anyway, now it's COD4 and Gears that are considered lead of the pack. But for GOTY? I don't see that either. It'll be GTA4, you can bet on it. GTA3 stole GOTY from MGS2 and Halo so I see 4 stealing it from MGS4 and Gears/Resistance.

Besides Resistance 1 was up there just as good as everything else when it came out.

I hope its not GTA4 either since I was playin it at a friends house.. its a lot less creative than San Andreas and less fun than it also. I missed being able to fly around and I liked being able to go to multiple cities in SA.

Also GTA 4 seems like a watered down San Andreas with a BUNCH of elements from Saints Row and not much more. SR2 may even end up being better than 4. Not that 4 was bad, its pretty solid, but it just that for Grand Theft Auto it didn't really give me the rush I expected.

Of course, because you can't do much besides what you've already done. I didn't think GTA3 deserved GOTY since it was just Driver 2 with better graphics and guns.

Back to Resistance, I think it'll be the best shooter out there this year. Gears coming in at second. Just because Resistance has so much stuff not seen usually or seen at all in a FPS. Like bosses, that's just unheard of in a FPS, 2 campaigns sounds awesome, and as always Resistance is the king of awesome weapons. Insomniac always has creative, fun weapons in their games.

Actually LOTS of FPS games have bosses... its just that they are generally really pathetic. The hardest "boss" fight in a shooter I've ever had was in Resident Evil, but Gears had one or 2 respectable bosses and the Berserker Mini-Bosses gave us adrenaline rushes the first time and were pretty fun every time. Then General RAM and his damn bats provided quite the challenge.

Halo had bosses as well except to me they were generally easy and I will admit that they felt uninspired..

Going back to the first line... LOTS of shooters have bosses, but very rarely are they pulled off well.

I read in a game pro issue that it'd be between Gta 4 and Mgs 4. I can see grand theft auto taking GOTY though I wouldn't agree with it.gears 2 looks decent too. I say gta gets GOTY then mgs second. gears 2, resistance 2 and smash bro. brawl(not in order) will get third, fourth ,and fifth.

Ah, but those shooters you speak of are third person. First person rarely has them.

Nope. Biggest game of the year goes to Grand Theft Auto IV which is already released <3

Resistance 2 looks awesome though but I wouldn't say it's the biggest.
