They got Freddy. Poor Freddy.

The tournament had been a rousing success, much to Spin's surprise, and the quality of the matchups will surely be higher than ever this round.

"Quartz and Kane! Report to the ring!"

(Three days, blah blah blah, etc. =P)

[I am privileged to have this opportunity now. Lilsonic, I know you wanted this shot so I won't let you down - I can't let you down.]

Not surprisingly, Quartz was first to arrive within the hallowed grounds that made up the arena.

Surprisingly the crowd was being rather quiet, almost as if they were waiting for both opponents to enter.

The lilac one walked in, slightly sore that he had to eliminate Kiyel previously - but it had to be done; the need was performed and now the pirate captain had another task ahead of him.
Kane.

The arena was roughly one hundred feet in diameter, Quartz walking about thirty five feet in to his starting position once more. His gaze was focussed mainly on the door, but also an occasional glance was thrown here or there in order to ensure there would not be another surprise entrance like last time.

"Kiyel," he whispered to himself, "I know this next opponent should rightfully be yours. He has embarrassed you greatly and shamed your family. This battle should be yours, with your chance to restore pride to your family."

Then without warning, Quartz drew his beloved sword, Daikatana, and span around in a circle pointing it at the crowd.
"Spectators of the first Sonic Blast tournament!" he yelled, turning here and there to ensure he was speaking out to everyone equally. "We all know the history of this next opponent, this member of the Element Squad! I promise you now, members of Sonic Blast, I will defeat him - and restore pride to you once again!" he cried, finishing by thrusting his sword into the air.
As one the crowd leapt to their feet and began cheering - they were behind Quartz, at least for now.

"For the honour of Sonic Blast, I will defeat you Kane!" he yelled towards the double doors, a determined look appearing upon his face.

[Let it be known now - against this guy, I'm NOT holding back. I'm going to play to the very best of my ability. Call it my bankai.]

(Bankai you say. I guess I'll have to put my all into this as well. funny you should refer to Bleach.)

Kane hears a sudden roar of cheers from the crowd. He slightly heard the words spoken by the one named Quartz. Kane grins with a twisted smile as he stands behind the closed doors. "Kane." Hensa speaks behind Kane with a serious look upon his face. "You can not use your Battle Might. Thats an order Kane." Hensa glares as Kane looks over his shoulder at him.

"I can't promise that. I know this guy made it this far, which means he must be strong and tough." Kane replies twisting his smile even more. "And you can't stop me this time Hensa." He adds grinning with malevolent eyes. Hensa tightens his fist as Ein just stands there listening to the conversation. Ein nods at Kane as in good luck and the music is ready to play. Kane flashes his eyes gold in response to Eins to tacit gesture. Kane starts to head off out the doors as a song begins to rise into the air and fill the arena.

Rise
The crowd starts to listen to the song as Kane steadily and slowly walks towards the area, grinning with a sinister eyes.

"Why are you always on Kane about his Battle Might. I mean, can it really be that bad?" Ein asked somewhat concerned. "Why does can fight?" Hensa quickly replies. "well.. to him, its all he does I guess. He fights because he likes to be the best and beat anyone with high powers and strength." Ein answers thinking after thinking for a while. Hensa just glares as he watches Kane walk to the area. "Wrong. that would be pointless to him. He doesn't fight pointless battles. Each time he fights, he becomes stronger, faster, as well as his Might." Hensa starts off as Ein listens closely

"In his Battle Atmosphere, if he kills anyone or being, they don't die, but become fused with him, giving him theirs strength, power, might, and endurance." Eins eyes widen with fear as he thinks back at how many died my Kane's hands in his Battle Atmosphere. "But he won't use that here. I knows not to. That would be a waste. He is fighting in here for one reason." Hensa turns around and faces Ein. "To Win." Hensa states with slight anger.

"...to win?... But wouldn't that be pointless fighting to him?" Ein asked slightly confused. "No. in order to win, he must fight without using his Battle Might and his Battle Atmosphere." Hensa replies. "You still haven't answered my question." Ein states angered. "The situation has changed. seeing on how Kiyel lost to this guy, and ruined his only chance to finish their fight I interrupted, he will not be as careless as he normal is. He is enraged at this point and will fight this guy more worse then he would fight me and you put together." Hensa explains as Ein watches Kane near the area.

"Hensa is right. Kane did have a different look about him. this guy better watch it. Kane is not happy at this point. and Hensa giving him an order on his limit didn't help his mood." Ein thinks to himself as Kane reaches the area and stands 10 feet away from Quartz.

"Quartz, right? well what ever your name is, its not going to matter. When I'm done with you, your fans won't be able to recognize you at your funeral. And once your dead, I'll be waiting for you on the other side." Kane states to Quartz while making his eyes flashes dark gold and grabbing a hold of his hilt.

Wrong thing to say, asshat, Quartz thought. My father died to help put a roof over my head.

His mind flashed back to those years ago, back in the days when he lived in Thecnica with his mother whilst his father, the original Mechette, worked lots to put a roof over their heads.
The flip side to this of course was that Mechette Senior went down the local boozer to try and ease his stress somewhat, and came home to beat it out of his wife and only child.
And on Quartz's eighteenth birthday, Quartz senior went and did the one and only good thing he'd done for his son... he bought him a pair of dark brown boots, complete with steel toe-caps, and told his child that these would last him a life time if looked after properly.
Then he went down the local alehouse once more, and failed to return. He died whilst forcing his face down the top of the local wench attempting to impress the lads from down the mine.
The inquest determined it to be spontaneous failure of both kidneys and liver, owing to years of drinking, drinking, drinking. Both Quartz and his mother were devastated; it was for this reason that Quartz went forth and sought to earn a living for both himself and his mother, as she had been the one who'd put up with the moods and tantrums over the years. It was the least he could do.

The lilac one festered quietly as he looked down on the same boots he'd worn for the last seven or so years, the very same steel toe-capped boots his father had bought him the day he died.
Quartz gripped his sword tightly, remembering just what a complete imbecile the elder echidna was. There was no way that he was going to join his father in the afterlife.

He wouldn't allow it.

"So, my father is going to join me at my funeral..." the lilac one spoke softly, quiet enough for Kane to hear but nowhere near loud enough for anybody in the audience to hear. "You sicken me. You drive me down into the depths of what could be called a soul. You force me to fear the consequences of my actions."

Quartz pointed his sword at his opponent, the one related to Kiyel.
"And yet, I shall force you to succumb to my blade, biatch!"
With that, he charged at his opponent. His opportunity to fire with Llorena was long gone; this was now a personal fight that deserved face-to-face combat and his sniper rifle was now just another weapon to be thrust into his opponent's temple.

As it happened, Quartz charged forwards, sword pointed towards Kane. Once he was within range he went for a vertical slash, hoping to connect metal with flesh and to slice the foe into two clean pieces. The upside of this attack was that he was easily able to counter most sword-based movements from his new stance; in fact once the sword finished its travels it would be a simple matter to defend just about most physical moves from the vile one known as Kane.

Instead of hearing the sound of flesh being ripped as well as clothing being shredded, a sound of clashing metal rings out and puts the crowd in awww. Kane had blocked Quartz's attack with his sword held above his head in horizontally, holding Quartz's blade with his own. But a small dent had been made upon Kanes sword where the two blades met. "Quartz. Why do you fight?" Kane asked grinning ever so evilly.

"Don't do it Kane." Hensa states softly, but Ein over heard him. "Do what?" Ein asked wondering what Hensa was worried about. "Did you noticed a difference when Kane took out his sword, then any other time he took out his sword." Hensa asked watching the hold between Quartz and Kane. "uhh.. He took it out faster then he would normally do?" Ein states unsure of his answer. "Ein. Take out your sword half way." Hensa orders as he turns and faces Ein. Ein rolls his eyes and pulls out his sword half way. A light-blue light shines from his sword and brightens the area around them.

"Noticed that when Kane drew his sword to block the attack, he didn't power his sword as you did, or as I would. Doing this is almost instinct to us, but he did not power his sword. Which can only mean he will use that energy to use his Battle Might." Hensa say angrily. "Heh, your wrong." Ein says with a smirk as he puts away his sword and looks towards Kane. " Did YOU notice where his other hand is." Ein asked as Hensa looks and sees Kane's hands are behind his lower back, where he keeps his two long knifes.

"See Hensa, you may know Kane from being his captain and reading his mind, but you never fought him as I did. He used this technique on me before. But you stopped the fight before he can fully activate it. But I have seen it in action." Ein starts to explain as he looks back at Hensa. "When you sent us to deal with that dark lord who entered the society, the dark lord nearly killed Gonto's baby sister. And you know little babies and kids are Kane's pride and joy. It even makes him more happy then fighting." Ein continues but smirks as he looks back at Kane and Quartz.

"The reason why he saved his energy is to fuse his two long knifes and make a second sword. letting him have both swords filled with energy." Ein finishes and looks back at Hensa. "No. the only one who has mastered that is Lupus. Kane WILL have two swords, but he will have to channel the energy between both swords, leaving one vulnerable. Which explains the dent on the sword Quartz just made on Kane's sword." Hensa explains as he glares at Quartz and Kane.

"If Hensa is right, and Kane learned that from Lupus. then there is no telling what else Lupus taught him!! I still can't believe Lupus, the most feared captain in the society, would take Kane under his wing and teach him." Ein thinks to him self.

Kane just waits for an answer and for Quartz's next move

Forcing effort into the blow, he drove the blade forwards.
Focusing anger into the slice, he brought it down cleanly.
Feeling resistance as metal clashed loudly with metal, Quartz glared at Kane as he'd realised the attack had been halted. Green eyes of anger met green eyes of evil malice and sword bit into sword.

"Quartz. Why do you fight?" Kane asked grinning ever so evilly. The lilac one struggled for breath a little, the sudden impact hadn't been anticipated in his mind and he was actually a little shocked that he'd not been assaulted back.

I know the reason, Quartz thought silently, reflecting a little more on his past. Once his father had passed away his mother slumped into a massive depression - refusing on occasion to leave the family home. It was seeing this beautiful woman fall from grace that convinced the eighteen-year old Quartz Clarkson Mechette that he should be the man of the house now, and earn the bread to feed his mother.
It was for her that he got his first job. It was for her that he bought and refitted the Silence, his beloved ship. That he broke the law so frequently. That he had recruited a good group of individuals to aid him keeping his ship afloat, that he'd gotten a sparring partner in the form of Sparkx to keep him match-fit.
To keep a roof over his mother's head - it was natural that he'd want to help her. He gained enough from his pillaging and plundering to be able to send a large amount back to her regularly.

As the mental image of his mother faded, Quartz's mind snapped back to the present. There was a persistent echidna wearing fabulously bad clothing, asking him a question that was deep and personal.
"Who says there has to be a reason?" Quartz ranted, gritting his teeth together as he was putting a bit of effort in to match Kane's sword pushing against his. "More's the point, what the heck does it have to do with you, you pathetic excuse for an echidna?"

With that verbal blast, Quartz released a slight bit of pressure on his side of the clash to try and make Kane move forwards from the sudden lack of effort on the lilac one's part. At the same time he went to raise his knee and plant it firmly into his opponent's never-regions, foot slightly extended to catch him should Kane not move forwards as anticipated.

Kanes arm shaking slightly was the only sign of struggle shown from keeping Quartz's sword from splitting him in half. As Quartz pushed upon his sword, the dent that was made soon becomes a chipped piece on his sword. Kane hears Quartz's reply and shakes his head as in disappointment. "I'd thought there would be some kind of depressing story to follow such strength you weld. Unless you engage in pointless battles." Kane states glaring into his eyes with his evilly twisted smiled. "As for me. I fight for one reason. To win. Each battle I part take in I always win, even if I have lost the fight, the battle it self will always be won by me. Want to know why?" Kane asked with a trickery smile. A noise was heard behind him, then a bright-gold light shines immensely as the crowd gazes upon the phenomenon.

" He did it. Exactly what Hensa said he would do. Kane... what has gotten into you?" Ein thinks as the light stops shining and behind him Kane's back, being held in his other hand, was his fused long knifes which created a second sword. Kane extends his newly formed sword to his side, showing Quartz and the crowd as it the blade had a hint of gold in it. Kane's eyes quickly flash gold, preparing for a strike, but he doesn't. Instead, Kane slides forward as Quartz had directed him to. But in doing so, Kane slide father apart from Quartz then he or Quartz had intended.

"Whats he doing? Why did he move! he had a clear shot on him with his other blade!! What the hell is he thinking!!" Ein shouts in his mind, trying to figure out what Kane was thinking or planing. "Its as I feared." Hensa soon says. Ein looks at him confused. "Kane has now blocked out who he is REALLY fighting, and replaced Quartz with another fighter, one that is more powerful then him, or the same. Doing this makes him more focus, as well as more deadly not only Quartz, but to him self." Hensa explains. "The real question is, who is Kane picturing Quartz to be? If its someone of higher power then him self, he will kill Quartz. If its someone at his level, Quartz might have a chance." Hensa finishes glaring at the two fighters.

"This is bad. There is only one person I've seen Kane give that look to, and that was Lupus, when Kane refused an order from him. Kane nearly died that day.... But so did Lupus.." Ein thinks as watches the battle intensely and with much concern for Kane and Quartz.

Focussing furiously on his opponent, Quartz was more than a little surprised when his boot missed its intended target, but nowhere near as surprised as when Kane made a second sword out of his knifes!

Crap! the lilac one thought. He's not done that in any of his previous matches! I must have missed that detail...

It hadn't gone unnoticed that Kane's original sword was unable to take the pressure that Quartz's Daikatana could, as it was disintegrating right before his very eyes.
I have to do this now, Quartz decided, or else I could be done for.
He was concentrating on keeping his balance so much that he didn't have the time to check to see what sort of a stance his foe was taking, but he figured it would be safe to say that he'd have at least one foot forwards, much like his own posture, in order to prevent himself from flying backwards.

Completely ignoring his opponent's golden tint, Quartz went for one final push forwards with his own blade, twisting it so that he could use his left hand to rest against the flat surface of Daikatana. The aim was to give a massive, sudden release of pressure in a controlled fashion and force Kane to approach him. The follow-up attack would be a simple but harsh attack; he would kick out with his right foot towards Kane's closest leg. The aim here was to kick behind the darker echidna's knee and - should it connect - hit it with enough force to make the knee bend and send Kane into an easier position to deal with.

However should his technique not work out, there was a good chance that Quartz would fumble any return blows from his fellow echidna.

Kane's arm shook more as Quartz applied more pressure with his sword, which was now slightly cutting into Kane's sword. But Kane's arm quickly became firm and steadfast. Kane's blade, that was blocking Quartz's blade, now how that hint of gold in it instead of his other sword, which was fused by his two long knifes. Kane lashes out with energy, breaking the hold of the two blades. in doing so he slide to his knees a few feet away from Quartz. He just looked down at the ground, holding both swords, one in each hand. He then looks upon his sword and sees where the damage has been made. He grips the hilt tighter, doing this starts to change the color of his sword slowly. Instead of a hint of gold, it was now partly gold. He stares back at the ground and opens his mouth to speak.

"Lupus." He directs to Quartz. "You must be going easy on me... Bad move on your part captain... this time.. I WILL kill you." Kane spoke peering into Quartz's eyes with bright gold eyes.

"Kane is losing control for some reason. He wont last in a right state of mind for long. Now that he really thinks Quartz is Lupus, he will fight Quartz in most vile, ill tempered way he has ever before. Once Kane rises onto his feet.... He won't stop moving. He won't stop fighting. and he won't stop until Quartz is dead or motionless... What can Quartz do? Besides trying to win this fight... Quartz doesn't understand. Kane won't stop.... Hensa was wrong. Kane is going to use his Battle Rage in stead of his Battle Might. Which is worse in Kane's current state of mind." Ein thinks to himself as Hensa just watches, tighten fist and glaring angrily at Kane.

Once more, Quartz's attempt to 'persuade' his foe to gown down was unsuccessful, as instead of coming towards him the darker echidna somehow lashed out with the movement-restricted sword, it would seem. A burst of energy parted the two, sending Quartz back some way, pretty much to where he started.
As he finally skidded to a halt, Quartz checked out whether there were any after-effects of the energy blast. The horizontal burst had been blocked for the most part by Daikatana but his face felt burnt, and his once white clothes were singed, as were his gloves which were at Ground Zero.

So, he has the ability to make his two knifes into a sword? Quartz analysed his opponent quickly. I admit, I didn't see that coming. And now the distance between us is too great to make an effective charge...

He could recognise his opponent had skill, but something else was up - he was repeatedly failing to attack the aggressive echidna. It was time for Quartz to calm down a little, even with his clothing once again in tatters.

Green eyes fiercely stared back at golden eyes as Quartz didn't blink; didnt even flinch. Reacting quickly to the threat, he grabbed his sniper rifle, Llorena, in his off-hand and fired a shot off quickly. As it was an older gun it would require both hands to reload properly, so he chose not to.
As the shot was being made with his left hand it would more than likely miss the crouched form that was Kane, but he didn't have time to sheath his sword and draw Llorena. He needed an action now, and if this was what it took then so be it!

Kane suddenly felt something strange. He looks down at his chest and sees blood running down from a hole in his shirt. The hole in his shirt soon shows his open wound which starts to stream blood down his shirt. Kane twisted his smile ever so evilly, having more of a psychotic look about him then his normal evil grin. "Hmmm... I believe its my turn." Kane states making his eyes glow a shining gold color as his sword in his left hand shines a bright gold light as his new sword is now a the normal sword. Kane launches himself form his knees to a high speed sprint for Quartz. Charged blade to his right, normal blade to his left, guns for Quartz not showing a sign that he will evade any attacks that Quartz may deliver.

Hensa and Ein stand up right as Kane bolts for Quartz. "He's going for it." Ein states. "He is out of control and will only force his wound to become worse." Hensa states angrily. "No. He won't stop Hensa. You know this Hensa. Kane is reaching a level he won't be able to control... even if thats his down fall, he will make Quartz fall first before we ever does. Stop trying to pretend you can control him because you can't. Not in this fight Hensa. He knows you won't be able to stop this fight, there for, he won't hold back Hensa. So just stop thinking you can, because at this point, he can't even stop himself." Ein tells Hensa while crossing his arms and watching Kane speed off towards Quartz, leaving a trail of blood.

Quartz blinked once. He blinked twice. Then he sheathed Daikatana as he realised his poorly aimed, rushed shot had actually struck home smack bang centre!
"What are the odds of that?" he chirped out loud, his focus fading a little, his anger and adrenaline slightly on the spent side of the scale. His enthusiasm and energy remained however; his high stamina levels having barely touched thus far. "Two close-range shots miss, a crap shot with my poor hand slaps you in the..."

The pirate captain trailed off as he realised that Kane wasn't really listening.
"...chest?" he whimpered, as the wound was visible even at their distance apart.
Then the black echidna charged, the golden look in his eyes seemingly taking on a sinister hue to them.
Quartz hesitated for a moment, checked his sword was attached to his hip, and turned a full one-eighty and legged it.

"I'm too young to be rearranged by an emo ninja!" he wailed as he frantically tried to reload his gun, not even realising the sheer irony of his comment.
The crowd watched him run, and started booing the lilac echidna - this was cowardly, and especially after his fantastically aggressive start! They were now cheering on the pumped-up Kane, who was clearly on a mission.
"-shutupshupshutupshutupshutupshutup-" Quartz hissed as his legs carried him as fast as they could carry him.

As Kane guns for Quartz he suddenly displays a smirk of pleasure. "Second song." he states to himself. Upon saying those words and second song starts to rise and fill the the crowds ears.

Boom

Kane suddenly starts to twirl both swords in his hands at a rapid pace, kicking up some dirt and dust, as if hiding trying to hide him self as he draws closer.

"WHAT!! THAT CAN'T BE!!" Ein shouts to Hensa. "Thats Gonto's technique!" Ein finishes as Hensa glares at Kanes performance. "Like you said Ein. Kane is not going to hold back. So don't get all hyped, you knew this was coming. Or maybe you have never seen Kane use this technique before. I too have fought against him Ein. So do not make the mistake that I do not know about Kanes battle methods." Hensa says watching as Kane charges at Quartz while preforming this technique. The crowd is in awww and cheers Kane on more, but Kane can not hear them, as he is too focus on Quartz.

"Right! or left! Hmm! which shall it be Lupus!" Kane shouts to Quartz as more dirt and dust covers Kane almost completely.

"You know what come next, don't you Hensa?" Ein states as Hensa just watches. "Yes. Lets just say, Quartz will have a hard time blocking this attack. Kane is not only building up speed, but also power with each step." Hensa explains to Ein.

Kane suddenly stops spinning his swords abruptly to only spin them in front of him instead at his side, which launches the cloud of dirt and dust at Quartz.

"There is only one way to know which way Kane will attack... His gold shining sword.. Even I would have a hard time judging this attack, as Kane is in motion and not standing still." Hensa finished explaining.

A frown appeared on Quartz's forehead as he heard the soundtrack change to POD.
"Coulda picked Bad Religion, but noooooooo, has to play POD," he muttered inbetween breaths as he continued his evasion of Kane.

Turning back slightly, Quartz saw what could only be described as lunacy - Kane was using both swords to kick up a dust cloud.
"Jeez Louise!" he shouted, not pausing in his running. "Are you trying to rip off General Grievous or what?" in reaction to the swords digging into the ground. The dust was just a bonus, he figured.

As he continued running, he noticed a lack of footsteps chasing him - the enemy echidna had obviously stopped his pursuit.
"Ha, you fai-" he shouted, noticing there was now a whirling dervish of all sorts of crap heading in his direction - Kane had somehow sent that dustcloud forwards on its trajectory!
If Quartz was engulfed by it he'd be unable to breath or see - he needed to avoid it and quickly!

It's a pretty thick cloud, he thought as he switched his view to dead ahead and the arena wall. I highly doubt he can see me through it, I can't see him.
Thinking rapidly, Quartz estimated how many steps it would take him to reach the wall. Then a brief flick backwards before he held his breath and closed his eyes, frantically trying not to allow any dry dust down his lungs or into his eyes as it would affect him for the remainder of the fight.

Fingers felt wall. He immediately went to climb, and flopped over into the crowd where he'd hide until the dust dissipated.
Eat that, asshat! he smirked, still unable to see or breathe.

As Kane launched the dust cloud upon Quartz, he hadn't realize that there was a wall after the dust cloud. Blazing towards the dust cloud, thinking Quartz would be trapped in it, Kane dives into the dust cloud while spinning his swords in front of him like two saws. A huge crash explodes from the dust cloud as Kane had hit the wall instead of Quartz, who had climb into the stands with the crowd, making the crowd slightly scared but excited, as now the fight was right before their eyes.

"Ahh!" Ein states as as more dust releases form the impact of Kane and the wall. everything is quiet as Ein and Hensa try to see into the slowly moving dust cloud whoch was being carried by the light wind. Then a small gust of wind swept away the dust to only reveal a huge hole in the wall as small pieces of the hole broke off and feel to the ground. There was no sign of any movement with in the dark hole, nor was there any sounds at all.

"Kane... Is he.... No... he can't be... Kane is stronger then that...." Ein thinks to him self as Hensa shakes his head slightly. "What? what is it now?" Ein asked Hensa who knew something he didn't. "Its a very cheap move to preform, but none the less very effective. Kane normally does not preform surprise attacks, but that his his next plan of action." Hensa tells him. Ein blinks twice, then smirks as he watches the crowd become excited and whisper, cheer, and reach out to touch Quartz like adoring fans would. "hmp. Kane is just sitting in that hole, listening to the crowd. Doing this will give away exactly where Quartz is. Using the crowd ti find his opponent, smart move." Ein states watching and waiting for Kane to attack, thinking that Kane is taking a little bit too long for the attack.

With out wanning, Kane bashes through the stands upward, launching some of the people in the process and causing them some damage. As Kane rises behind and above Quartz he is lightly coated with dirt and dust, as well as some scraps. Blood streams from his bullet wound on some of the people and on the stands as Kane slashes downwards upon Quartz with flaring gold eyes and with such insanity.
