Maybe he still wouldn't be so great, but I think he should at least be the main one... :\ Eggman describes his figure, but Robotnik also describes him as well. He makes robots and Robotnik fits his description too. Are you sure his name is really Eggman? His father must have hated him. Eggman always has been the main villain and has always been the one to initiate his own demise. The "villain of the day" thing that's been happening with the main installments really hasn't displaced his importance since he almost always the catalyst for everything that happens in the games. And I realize Robotnik describes him to an extent as well, but I said that Eggman describes him literally, and I think it fits in better amongst the group of simplified, Romanized names going around in the series. And yes, his name is now actually Eggman. That happened with SA2/B. X3 And hey, I think his parents had good sense. They didn't know he'd be a genius, so they might as well have named him in regards to what he probably looked like as a (very odd-looking) child.

He is the main villain, but I want him to be the main threat to Sonic. He'll likely never win, but if he's more threatening to Sonic, it would be nice. Maybe it would be different than always, but change never hurts. As for describing him I don't think describing either his looks or his lively hood has more importance in a name. Eggman fits just as well as Robotnik, imo. But even named Eggman he did look pretty cool in Sonic '06 imo. More like an evil genius than otherwise like in SA2.

Sonic Crossroads 6 years ago, I began a fangame project called "Pure Shadow". I cancelled the project due to lack of time and other priorities. Now that I'm in college, and have loads of more time, I found the file and began to pick it up again. After refreshing my memory of all the coding put into the engine, I decided to use it to write a new project. Drawing out a new plot and new gimmicks for the project, I decided to rename this project called Sonic Crossroads. This project is going to be completed in Game Maker 8 PRO coded by myself and my friend who goes by the alias, MastaaFrederick. Because of our lack of experience in many aspects to increase enjoyability (such as music, artistry, animation, etc.), we want to develop a small team to work on this project. Anyone who is interested, please message me. On top of these things, we want to create a new antagonist for the story. We, MastaaFrederick and I, need a whole new character concept. We want the most creative fan character we can find, and create a sprite sheet for this character. We would like to find a character via messenger. Demo for the fangame coming soon.

In the series' yesteryears, he was nothing more than a fat, beady-eyed man who'd get blown up and run for the hills in a very amusing way every time I exploited his obvious flaws in combat. Today, he's practically the same egotistical coward with the same flaws in battle and technological oversight; just with a voice and a different name. It's difficult to consider him a viable threat to anybody, especially if this so-called genius was always trumped by a mere forest creature. It's this type of thinking and Sega's own presentation of the character (and my non-exposure to the considerably more evil Archie/SatAm incarnations) that allowed me to easily accept his new name. In fact, I never really questioned it as I thought it fit better than Robotnik the moment I heard it. Eggman describes exactly what he is literally and aids in exemplifying the comical nature that makes him a little less standard than the usual "grr I'm evil and scary!" type of villain that currently dominates the media. It's what makes him really likable to me, as I probably would not be able to bring myself to otherwise care as much if he was really this thing to be taken seriously. PS: To all of those who say that Robotnik is his "real name": As of 2001, his real name is actually Eggman Robotnik. He's named both, but apparently chooses to call himself by his first name instead. I really think that he isn't a threat to anyone but himself, which is why he should be put in a happy room. I always thought Eggman was a nick name given to him by Sonic to tick him off... ah well, I still like Eggman.

And yeah, I agree with Shadowsminion, because in Sonic Adventure 1, Robotnik got angry when Sonic called him eggman.(For the first time too, i think)
